Oh yeah, something interesting is that it seems like we can give more guidance to allies now. The two battle screenshots show 'Prioritize Gathering' and 'Concentrated Attack' over the status display.

WINNER! Oh, and what Adol's wearing kinda reminds me of what he had in the Oath in Felghana OP video, that one with the caravan, Mr Hope always being there, and tentacles reaching for Elena.

*changes pants* While this invokes the expected physiological and psychological responses, I do have to say I wasn't planning to get a Vita anytime in the coming years. I still haven't even gotten a PSP.
Also, I'm not pleased with the return to the party system. It was a nice divergence from form for Seven, but I don't think it should be the new series standard. While the implementation had its strong points, I especially don't like fighting anthropomorphic bosses when there are 4 people on the screen blurring past each other.
Marginal complaints aside though-- *changes pants again*

One of my hopes for the game is that at least some of the human boss fights will be solo, at least for the one against Guruda please...
That aside, while I agree that I don't want the party system to become the new standard, I'm willing to go along with it in this specific instance because it means Karna is playable. The V remake can go back to solo Adol as far as I'm concerned. I may like Terra but I wouldn't want to play as the little brat with the slingshot. Her grown-up self with the knife is another matter.
Oh, speaking of Terra and characters growing up, if they include Esteria segments, will we be seeing Hooker Lilia from Ys Nexus?

the best news i have heard so far, i wonder how much this game has in common with the Dawn and Mask games, it seems like a complete third reinvisionment of the story. but i definitly want.

I don't remember Adol having amnesia. Actually, now I'm wondering HOW they'll work that one out.

Holy mother of... I think I need to change my pants. And no, Adol hasn't had amnesia in any previous version of the story. I wonder if he might get it by arriving in Celceta via Shipwreck Express. He managed to avoid that in the earlier games but maybe they'll bring it back for old times sake. I find it interesting that they haven't given our allies names. Is this because Adol is going through a Memento thing where can't actually remember their names or are they just being mean and teasing us. Oh yeah, from what the trailer shows us, Mysterious Silver-haired Guy is taking Dogi's role of beating things up barehanded and Karna dual-wields either short swords or long knives and can throw them in some of her Skills. the best news i have heard so far, i wonder how much this game has in common with the Dawn and Mask games, it seems like a complete third reinvisionment of the story. but i definitly want. Well, they're clearly making Celceta a lot bigger and adding in new stuff but there are some elements that we can recognize (or think we can at least) like the Ilys/Iris Tower and the Crater (or should that be Clater?), plus the town that's probably Kasnan. Clearly there's a lot that will be entirely new and at this point, who knows how much of the material from Mask of the Sun (the one they were calling the canonical story until, effectively, yesterday) will remain or what they might draw from Dawn?

The trailer is all about uncovering the truth from a multitude of lies, so I guess we'll learn what happened along with Adol.
Karna and the white-haired dude are introduced by descriptions (not names) in their text boxes, so maybe the amnesia thing is going around? ^^;

That's true, it just seemed to me like they were commenting more on the area than introducing themselves. Whatever, too little info to really speculate.
I want to see Adol's new character art!!

I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to be getting from that one aside from something about 'Celceta's memories'.

It says "As you fill in the map, memories of Celceta return" or something like that.

Thanks! It's interesting how there's so much emphasis on Celceta being an unexplored region (or at least that large parts of it are unexplored) considering how it didn't really come across that way in the previous games. Of course, they finally have the chance to make Celceta the way they want to so it's probably best not to assume too much based on the previous games.

Adol has amnesia? More like I have amnesia! I don't remember any of that being in the game, save for the big El Dorado looking circular door. : )
Looks like we'll be experiencing something completely new, and fresh for the most part. Thanks for the link to the trailer Narugami.

According to an interview with 4gamer at TGS today, this is essentially a complete redo of Ys IV seeing as Falcom never actually made one to begin with. We can take that to mean that anying we thought we knew could be thrown out the window because this will be a brand new experience.
Essentially treat it like a Ys VIII in that sense.
Also, I've never been more excited about Trees in my life.

I find it very concerning that the VITA is yet another fingerprint magnet. My DS didn't really fare much better with stylus scratches and scuffs either. Am I the only one who gets severely annoyed by these issues?
// Also, the vibe I'm getting from this, is that Adol had been in Celceta before. Adol is an amnesiac, and he must recover memories of Celceta? So does this mean that this actually takes place *after* Ys IV?
An alternate take on this idea, is that the memories he recovers, are of the various legendary warriors, such as Lefanse, therefore securing that this is actually Ys IV.
Either way, I don't personally see any confirmation that this is actually a re-envisioning of IV. Could we have some confirmation on that somewhere?
