The Golden Pikkard is not rare for me. ^^ I encounter it a lot in particular area of the Forest of Dawn. I just never managed to kill it since it dashes off and has over 1000 Defense. :P Well, all right. I haven't really fought it since I took that screenshot. I read that the bugger's like a level 31 enemy. I'm at that level now so maybe I'll try it but I would probably want money to beef up my weapons. Irony! When I got to LOOK for it, it's not in that location. XD Other tips: - When you get over 50 or 60% of the map covered, Griselda will give you the Aeolus Urn (風魔の壺) which works the same way as in Ys Seven EXCEPT, if you completed a certain quest in Highland, you can upgrade it so that it spits out gold every few seconds. ^^; The denominations aren't very high -- I've seen 1 G, 10 G, 50 G and 100 G -- but it adds up.
- For all the weapon tests from Shiryu in Selray, pay attention to the type of status ailment the weapons have because YOU'LL get inflicted with them as well. >__> Always have some corresponding amulets handy to counter the effects.
- Characters sitting on the back burner level up at a decent pace this time around. No need to deliberately take them out for a spin. However, since there are character-based trophies that are awarded based on the amount of time you used the character, you'll need to spend some quality time with them (especially if you're going for Platinum).
- Whenever you finished a story-related quest (those blue flags/after defeating bosses), run back to Casnan and speak to Mouse (マウス). He's the information dealer in the back alley that you pay 100 G to every now and then. There's a trophy for getting every piece of info from him.
- There's also a trophy for finding Michey -- that fucking creepy looking cat. (I keep thinking that it's someone in a cat costume. Why the hell is it in the game anyway? On a different note, why does Leo exist? So useless and stupid annoying.) Not sure the Michey thing has a time limit. I think I'll pull out of the Forest of Ash in a sec to see if I can find it in its Selray location and maybe all the other ones that I can while I'm at it. (Good ol' Japanese site has all the locations. Ufufufu.)
Ah, good. He's/She's/It's there.

(I keep thinking that it's someone in a cat costume.[/quote] Probably because Michey began as the mascot for Michelam Wonderland in Zero/Ao no Kiseki, where he was someone in a cat costume. Because for some unknown reason, Falcom seems to be trying to turn him into their mascot character. Nayuta, makes sense. It's a Kiseki game even if it's not directly linked to the main games. Ys now... uh, yeah.

Was just on Falcom's website, the OST is going to be released on November 9. The website says the OST has 36 tracks. Counting the 21 Ys IV tracks already listed, as well as the new BGM comes out to 35, with the full version of the opening theme filling the last slot. This means that about 3/5 of the original Ys IV compositions are NOT in the game. Ouch.

Considering that Nayuta's soundtrack is on iTunes in the US at least, I'm pretty sure this'll be coming over too.

Once you strip out the tracks from I-II and the MotS songs Falcom didn't create, you've got about 45 songs that form the Ys IV soundtrack. That's still a lot of missing (and really good) music mind you. And yes, I know I'm being pedantic about this. Ys IV must bring out the music geek in me.

But I completely agree, I want to hear those songs redone! Of the songs I was excited for, Falcom only rerecorded about half or less.

Oh, I wouldn't disagree there either. Of my top three anticipated songs, I only got one of mine. Y'know, how about we just list all the stuff that didn't make it in so we have a complete list to compare things to when Falcom makes that supplimental cd (hint hint, Falcom)? Songs whose noninclusion in this game makes me facepalm in bold. The Syobainin Sympathetic Young Swordsman KarnaField Broken HourglassThe Five Loyal Retainers A Great OrdealThe Clan of Darkness Beyond Recollection The Sage Leeza and Leeza -Hidden Feelings In Her Heart- Walking the Path of LegendValley of QuicksandAnxiety Crimson Wings House Illusion Sorrow Poem of the Blue Moon The Ancient City Stirs and The Ancient City Reborn Bronze DistrictTemple of the Sun (it was even in the game too...) Arem (okay, understandable) A New Beginning Fantasy Horizon So, 21 in, 27 out and one included song was JDK but MotS-exclusive and another was unused until now. Eh, okay, maybe closer to your three-fifths figure than I initially thought.

I thought for sure I heard some of these(like Great Ordeal & Clan of Darkness) were in the game. Man that sucks! Maybe they're planning a direct sequal that WILL include those songs?...or maybe this game is just an alternate timeline that does not reflect the actual Ys continuity!?

Well, I can't attest to all of those personally. I'm still playing through myself and basing the list on all the songs from Ys IV that aren't on the 'confirmed' list.

Hi guys! Can anyone help out in the Misty summit area? Which is the right way to go? Im sort of goin around in circles. Help please! Thanks! I actually took screenshots of all the zones so I think it goes something like this: From the entrance, head north of the guy standing at the statue and go east. Next screen, go east again. 3rd screen, head toward the second tree (closest to the bottom of the screen) and go southward. 4th screen should have a harvest point for minerals. Pick the southwest path. 5th screen is southwest again. Last area should have a waystone and a statue with sun rays shining on it (just like back in the Woods of Strays maze). Edit: Vid's actually in HD. XD Embiggen it! Thank you very much!! :)

Anything not on my list of included songs is not in the game, so the full list of excluded Ys IV songs is: Fountain of Love '93 The Syobainan A Teary-Eyed Young Swordsman Karna Field Broken Hourglass Game Over The Five Disciples A Great Ordeal The Clan of Darkness Beyond Reminiscence Leeza Walking the Path of Legend Leeza - Hiding Her Thoughts in Her Heart Valley of Quicksand Anxiety Crimson Wings House Illusion Sadness Quickening of the Ancient City The Ancient City Surfaces Bronze District Verse of the Blue Moon Shrine of the Sun Arem A New Beginning Fantasy Horizon Temple (Unused Music) Prison House (Unused Music) I shall say it again: OUCH.

Kind of a weird cameo though. Hrrrrrnngggh. Dying from the background music in both Table Mountain and Forest of Ash. Not impressed with either track AT ALL. Hopefully, the next area won't make me want to completely turn down the BGM volume. Heh. I bet wyrd would wander in here just to argue that they're fine and, in fact, great tracks! XD Edit: I second fireinthehole's suggestion on how to upgrade weapons but the method is so dreadfully time consuming. I don't know why Falcom couldn't have let us just select the fucking QUANTITY of materials or types of materials to use and have them all fused in one shot. I suppose it would have required a lot more lines of code or something. I just hate having to repeatedly go select the Short Sword again and then look for materials that'll bump certain stats to 9. They could have remedied all this by having LESS materials and weapons though. But then, the trophy for maxing equipment would have been stupid easy to get. XD

No clue... I was looking just recently for tv-out cables for the vita, and was under the impression they weren't out yet.

O.K., I finally managed to achieve 100% completion in everything (platinum trophy!). It's probably first in few years that I actually finished everything in a game. It was all so worth it though. So some remarks about the game as whole that I didn't include in "What game did you last finish" thread: 1. As recent posts show, there were so many OSTs from previous versions of Ys IV missing in this game, which is really a shame. I mean come on, some dungeons in the game use the same music. Would it have hurt you to put different music in each dungeon, Falcom? This is grating, considering the fact that Ys: OiF included all the musics from Ys III and made them even better. But some new tracks and remixed ones were pretty good so I will let this slide. 2. Difficulty was improved from Ys Seven. Now, the nightmare difficulty requires real solid understanding of boss patterns and game mechanics unless you go for potion spamming. Since you get 95% (!) damage reduction while using 40 SP skills, using these to attack bosses can really lower the damage you take. 3. I really wish they made a better way of ordering your other party members to attack or withdraw. Due to the way I hold my PSVita, orders get issued to party members even when I don't want to. It can get really annoying so a better way to issue orders would be nice. 4. The weapon customization system is bit too broken, IMHO. The weapon with +8 in everything makes even boss fights significantly easier so I generally stop at +4 in everything to keep things challenging. Plus, I hate the fact that Adol is only limited to slashing in this game since Ys Seven's Adol can use all three types. I think a better weapon customization system for Adol would be to give each weapon type (blunt, slashing, and piercing) a specific set of abilities, thereby limiting the abilities that one weapon can hold. For instance, this would be the weapon development chart for Adol's Ishio blade (since one of the cooler concepts that never got made into Ys 5 was that Ishio blade would grow along with Adol): Adol's Ishio blade can change its type to slashing, blunt, and piercing. Each weapon type comes with specific set of abilities. For instance, blunt type's set of abilities include higher overall damage and causing "heavy" status effect while slashing type's set of abilities include siphoning HP and causing "poison" status effect and piercing type's set of abilities include higher critical rate and causing "paralysis" status effect. So you cannot hope for siphoning HP effect if you are using blunt type Ishio blade as it is available only to slashing type Ishio blade. Further you progress into the game, more abilities you will unlock for each type. You use gems to upgrade Ishio blade, which can be used to strengthen one ability further or add another ability. Of course, by visiting local smiths, you can switch Ishio blade's type to something else and spend gems to upgrade different set of abilities instead. I think this would make the weapons more balanced. As for other party members, they are limited to one weapon type so you won't be able to give them the abilities that are exclusive to other weapon types. 5. No wondering around the human settlements while transformed as a Roo I really wanted to see how people would react to it. All in all, it's a worthy remake of Ys IV despite its several flaws. It's not as awesome as Ys: OiF but I would rank it as my second favorite Ys game, tying with Ys I & II Complete.

Party (member) Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooos~!!!!!!!!! The one-colour eyes are kind of creepy. :( Regarding equipment system being broken -- I'm just too damn lazy to upgrade due to the amount of time and money it takes. :P I'm sure there are those that are playing on Nightmare that also probably won't bother trying to max them out. I think the highest I've ever gotten a single stat on anything is 6. I wonder if anyone's done a no weapon and no armour run yet?

Incog Neato, try putting the necklace of transformation on while Leeza is in your party later on as a guest NPC. She also transforms into a pink roo, too. Too bad you can't take her to those roos who give each character a roo-name. I wonder what her roo name would be. For the record, these are roo-names for each character: Adol - Ado-roo Duren - Du-roo (they do say it's a strange name since there's not really a place where the word roo could be added nicely). Ozma - O-roo-ma Karna - Ka-roo-na Kanririka - Kan-roo-roo-ka Frida - F-roo-da.
Maybe Leeza-roo or Roo-za? I don't know.

Indeed, I've been trying to avoid spoilers like the plague, lol! That does present a problem for me as a moderator; if I can't be 100% sure whether or not posts need tagging, then I can't moderate them. My moderator senses are tingling, I get the feeling that there have been many spoilers for Kiseki titles and Ys titles that have slipped under the radar.
