Hey Nunuu, do you think I would like DJ Max Fever? Do you like to grind because you're going to do a lot of that to unlock gears and notes and additional songs. The game is brutal for people that want to collect everything because some of the unlockables are play-counts only. And those can be in the THOUSANDS. Otherwise, maybe you'll like it! :D

Well, I was looking at the original PC titles, but they seem to be really hard to find.

All the DJ Max titles are pretty grind-heavy to unlock everything. If you're looking into the PC versions you might as well go with DJ Max Trilogy. That's has almost all the songs and is still in print and easy to find.
Unless you were looking to "try before you buy" it 'cause it uses a USB security dongle that I don't think has ever been cracked.

No I checked on Ebay, and couldn't find a copy. Maybe I spelled it wrong or something.

Justin: You could try O2Mania but the accuracy judgement is off for a lot of the DJMax tunes. Here be a link: blog.applejunk.net/?p=402And I thought the previous PC DJMax games were online only? :O Trilogy would indeed be what you're looking for but that is also a grindfest. Say, if you head south a bit to California, you'll probably come across the DJMax Technika machines and you can play that instead! XD

Heh I'll keep that in mind for sure. I may just end up snagging the cheap PSP game, as it looks like the easiest way to get into the series.
I was also going to ask you; Being such a huge fan of rhythm type games, have you ever tried Vib-ribbon for PSX?

Oh hey. Pop'n Music Portable came out a few days ago.
I wonder how 9-button mode on that thing is considering the PSP doesn't have 4 shoulder buttons like the Dual Shock 2 controller? D:

EDIT: Eep, found your answer on the official Pop'n Music Portable homepage. In 9-button mode, the buttons are as follows: Left, L, Down, Up, Square, Triangle, X, R, O That's... pretty crazy! I'm not so sure I like the sound of that... My brain just fried itself from reading that. I really don't think I can handle it unless the columns where the pop-kun drop mimic the locations of the buttons on the PSP. ^^; Ergh. ^^~

Pop'n Music Portable sounds pretty rad for a portable music game. It has 80+ songs, including a fair number of hits. 9 button mode will be a pain though, especially on EX difficulty because from what I've heard/seen so far, all the charts are the arcade ones and have not been toned down at all for the PSP controls.
On the other hand, PNM charts are built for giant buttons that no normal human can span 3 with a single hand at one time, so they may well be quite doable on the PSP. Keep in mind that they also have 5 and 7 key modes so you can work your way up to 9 key while your mind adjusts to the new layout.
If you've played and enjoyed any of the DJ MAX games for PSP, I think Pop'n Music Portable is a no-brainer. ...I think I just talked myself into buying it.
@tom, I played some Drummania on Sunday and that included a quick Bohemian Like You EXT play. The game actually rates that song at like a 53. The only hard thing in the entire chart are the alternating hi-hat/tom patterns with kicks, but it's so on beat it's laughable easy. And then I went and failed a 46 BSC chart...

Yeah, DrumMania is wildly inconsistent with its ratings. I basically just ignore the numbers, at this point, as they mean practically nothing. -Tom I find them to be a pretty good gauge of difficulty, but some patterns are harder for some people than others. You can get a pretty accurate idea of how hard a song is by looking at the difficulty number and then the groove gauge-eqsue chart that tells you how many notes the song has, how dense they are, how chaotic the chart is, and how much bass work the song has.

The most impressive thing to me about that vid is how do you read it scrolling so slowly?

schlagwerk's got a point. That IS slow. ^^ For a song like that, it'd rather have the notes go faster cuz they'll be farther apart and easier to read and probably easier to react to as well. ^^~
Granted, I've never play DrumMania much. I only played it when I went to an arcade downtown (which has closed down a while back. :((((((((()
But! Since you do well enough at regular speed, all is well!

I'm playing Taiko No Tatsujin DS, which is a little bare, but I'm getting into the music. I wish I got extra songs soon though... Or are they not there? The easiest is way too easy, and I can get steady silver crowns on all of the medium songs. The only problem with the highest difficulty is the DS itself, the buttons are weird to press rhythmically and the screen doesn't offer much forsight of the notes to come.

QUITE A FEW IN FACT. :DDD You get them by playing the daily challenges and getting crowns -- gold for full combo and silver for just passing. :3 You unlocked Oni already? D: And Taiko is bare? D: I still find it more fun than Project DIVA! >:O (Probably cuz I like the songs more.) But ... I suppose it's just as bare as Miku's game. :P
