Wut.
Nooooooooooooo.
I'm a sucker for limited editions -- especially Pentavision(-related) ones! >:(
Sigh. PayPal Conversion Rate as of Sep 10, 2010: 1 Canadian Dollar = 0.943554 U.S. Dollars.
There goes my moneys.
DAMN YOU, SCHLAGWERK! MAKING THAT POST!
Now watch the bastards at PM Studios do shitty packaging of the shipping box again like they did for the DJ Max Fever LE! >:(
Seriously, if they SECURED the box properly with foam peanuts and more bubble wrap, then it wouldn't have arrived with a banged up corner.

So looks like a petition has started up to get a console port of beatmaniaIIDX 17 SIRIUS (omg it's 7th Style all over again!). Early response from Konami has been asking people to state which system they'd like it for, PS2 or PS3, if it were to come out
I'd be SoL for PS3 as I don't own one, but they hit some hardware limitations on the PS2 so maybe it's time to upgrading. Then there's the whole issue about controllers and wired input lag on PS3
ps. DJ Max Portable 3

It seems a few of us got DJ Max Portable 3. And I've got a question - I try to get the game started, but the screen goes black and my PSP shuts off. I made sure to check if my PSP was up-to-date, and it was. So what's wrong exactly? D:

That's a new one to me. What model (1000, 2000, 3000-series) do you have an are you running any custom firmware?
Also have you tried with a fully-charged battery?

I've got the fat one, the 1000-series. And I'm not running a custom firmware. I tried it on my friend's slim and it worked fine, but I'm gonna give it another go with a full-charged batter later on.

Game should be fine with a 1000-series. Though one thing I did note is that the instruction book highly recommends doing a Data Install if you're on a 1000-series. No mention if it is to save battery life or if UMD load times are notably worse on 1000-series PSPs.
Of course, the Data Install for DJ Max Portable 3 is greater than all my other Data Installs combined (Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, JP Phantasy Star Portable 2, US Phantasy Star Portable 2). I just went out this weekend and picked up a new 4GB memory stick 'cause I didn't have a comfortable amount of free space after doing the install
Update: Yesterday I got the IIDX urge and played EMPRESS for an hour. Now being over half a year since I last played, I was expecting some bad scores (which I got) but I was not expecting to match my previously high score for Go Beyond!! (H) on my first try. I still remember when I couldn't consistently clear it and that's when I was playing regularly

Blargh.
DJMax P3 refused to load for me on my PSP-3000. Granted, it was only at 55% battery power (charging eith AC).
I managed to get it to run by loading up the UMD without a mem stick inserted. When the game couldn't find it, that's when I put it in.
Doing the data install right now so I won't be sure if I'll have to do the whole bit of starting the game w/o the mem stick again. :/
Edit: I do. >_>

Ergh. I'm beginning to feel that DJMax Portable 3 is a disappointment. I can't believe that the fucking game PUNISHES players for playing on Normal. Well, it feels like punishment because I'm on Level 24 with the goddamn +6% and +4% EXP modifiers and it's taking FOREVER to get to level 25. I don't recall the earlier DJMP games or even Trilogy being this mean. Of course, when I switch to Hard difficulty, I start magically missing notes somehow and it only takes a few misses to game over on that mode. >_> But hey, at least I get more experience! 9_9 To put my feelings about this game in perspective, I'll do a pros and cons list: Pros:- Remix mode is kind of fun
- Freestyle combo doesn't reset when you exit Freestyle mode or even the game!
- DJs/Avatars have modifiers again! (They were missing in Clazziquai Edition and Black Square.)
Cons:- Takes eons to level up
- No 5B/5T or 8B/8T/6BFX modes
- Stupid pick-1-of-3-boxes-for-a-hidden-prize unlock system upon level up
- Combo unlock conditions in Freestyle get ridiculous
- Next to no rewards for play count even though you'll be grinding like no tomorrow to level up and get all the combo unlocks
- Alternate note charts (such as a Hard note chart) must be played in the respective xT mode to be unlocked in Freestyle
- Anti-alias font doesn't work well with small font sizes
I'd list the tracklist as being a con but it's a completely subjective thing. For me, the songs in this game aren't memorable at all. Aside from Xlasher, I don't outright hate any of them but they're pretty much all in the :| or indifferent category. As for the blind box bit at level up, I wouldn't hate it so much if I didn't get stupid wallpapers and videos all the time. I spotted a gear and a note once but never managed to get them. >_> I'd rather Pentavision brought back the monetary system and let us choose to BUY from a selection of three items when we get to a new level instead. I'm half tempted to get the ISO onto my PSP-1000 just so I can use cheats to unlock everything. The series felt like it was at its prime at DJMax Portable 2. Everything else that followed pales in comparison. :\ Heck, Portable 3 feels like a goddamn step backward with the exception of remix mode. I mean, it even features an oh-so-incredible 40 tracks. C'mon, Pentavision! DJMax Portable had more than that! Well, I did like the tracklist in Clazziquai Edition (which also only had 40 tunes) but the note charts were wimpy. Given that it was a game aimed at beginners, that's to be expected. (And then, the patch came along and replaced some charts with MX charts, a beefed up Club Tour mode, and the game became that much harder.)

I don't recall the earlier DJMP games or even Trilogy being this mean. Earlier DJ Max games punish players for playing on lower difficulties by capping XP early, or locking some gameplay modes until you step it up. Thanks to Bemani games I'm used to the tighter timing on Hard but the lifebar does seem too unforgiving. I was feeling pretty disappointed with DJ Max Portable 3 before I even got distracted by DJ Hero 2.. and then distracted by Rock Band 3. The soundtrack just isn't doing it for me, too.

I just found out about DJMax Trilogy's 1.28 and 1.29 patches last night and patched the game.
1.28 gives players 3 news songs.
UNFORTUNATELY, I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET THOSE SONGS IN 938472398472 YEARS.
90% on a goddamn SC chart? Shit. The highest I got from button mashing through some tune (forgot which) was 83%. It was on 4K too.
Can most players actually succeed in getting over 90% on a Super Crazy chart? ._______.;;;;

LOL I think I got #2 for that song about a week ago when I did that Goal. EDIT: oh that's PS3. I'm on 360.
I broke out IIDX again this weekend and played some of the Premium Best disc. It cemented my idea that when I get a house, I'm gonna pick up a nice-sized CRT for my classic consoles. Then I can play IIDX again without constantly wondering if it's my timing or my TV's. I'm waiting until I have a house so chances are low I'd have to move the CRT. And who knows.. by that time SIRIUS CS might actually be out!

Wow Bemani players eh? Anyone from bemanistyle here? Unfortunately I'm semi-retired from playing and liking those games. But I still play them sometimes if I'm bored. Btw for those who don't know yet, is anyone of you familiar with the song Pierce The Sky from Dance Dance Revolution X2? One of its composers is our female friend who is half British-half Filipina.

I have a bemanistyle account (same name) but was never active there. I only stuck with VJ Army/SolidStateSquad back when I played a lot.

Ah, I just fried some brain cells playing nothing but Heavy and Oni difficulty tunes in StepMania (with hands and keyboard thankfully).
Damn, my head is spinning. X____x

My father took me to a Dave & Busters since they actually have those here on the East coast and like any good Dave & Busters they had a Pump It Up machine running Festa 2010 (the newest version). I figured I'd take this chance to enjoy all the classic PIU songs that were taken out of the so-not-PIU Pump It Up Pro 2 machine that I play weekly. Great ones like Watch Out, Dignity, Join the Party, Este Para Mi, Valenti, anything by Deux, etc. Only 48 songs and of the ones I knew, I found sometimes they were missing higher difficulties. I only played for 2 rounds and the second was just trying to find if I missed a mode select on my first play. What I was seeing reeked of some sorta Beginner mode I had stumbled into.
Well when I got home, I looked it up and turns out to unlock the real gameplay mode of Fiesta 2010 you either need to put in some pretty long password on the pads or you just needed to plug in a USB stick for stat tracking... 'cept this Dave & Busters was still using the PIU DX cab with the large projection screen. Said cabinet is a good 8-9 years old and of course lacks USB ports. Had I at least known the password, I would've spent all day on it. I looked over the full song list and it had everything I wanted to play
(added info: I'm visiting home, don't have my car, the nearest D&B's is at least an hour away, and I rarely see my father)

Sneaking this in here so it doesn't get lost in the non-argument in the Currently Playing topic. <_<
Was playing Rock Band with a co-worker over lunch and I drummed The Heist (amazing RBN song) on Expert Drums. After I finished it the little notification read "3,354 more points to beat <gamertag redacted>'s high score!" I'm sitting there and thinking.. wait, <gamertag redacted> is me! But wait again, I never played The Heist on Drums since RB3 came out! So on a coworker's gamertag I barely missed beating a high score by a friend who was using my gamertag when we were all playing as a band
Said friend is actually really good at the drums so I took that as a compliment that I almost beat him
