I just followed the link from the .txt file from Doppiapunta's site. Like I said earlier, though, I'm playing version 1.1.1.0 of the game (extra disc data already with the game, apparently).

Mantis Medallion Medals received from the Cecillia To put a sharp ???, carved figure of Evil is Zan. Mine was like that too. Doppi said it would be fixed but if you can't wait try to get it updated to 1103. Somehow after several failed attempts I actually got mine updated and the item descriptions are correct now. I have the original XP discs updated with the extra disc that was linked in this forum then eventually updated with the patch directly from falcom's site. Uh can anyone confirm this? So if i have 1.0.0.0, I need to install the Extra Disk then 1.1.0.3 patch then the english patch to not get babelfish-like translations on some items, is that right?

Some things remain babelfishy still. I'm running the XP version with the extra disc and English patch. My locale is set to Japanese. I can confirm, however, that Velagunder appeared with all of his textures -- no problems.

Ichigo get it updated to 1103 and odd item translation is fixed. I had a horrible time doing it though and don't know how it finally happened. I can send you a pre patched 1103 exe to test if you need.

While waiting for the english patch update I'm currently playing Ys6/Felghana again @unsavory Kaito - yeah thats what i planned to do. Maybe you can try sephirothtnh's method?

Unless there's an YsO backup stored somewhere, I won't be able to. A case of "Sorry Maggot, but your disc is in another castle." Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Also, I think I caught something korzic didn't report: at the character selection screen, it says "Thor". IMO that's not an error. It's the rest of the game that has his name typoed as Toal I prefer Thor too, but I guess that's Deuce's call.

l Anyway, if you want the whole story (and the chance to play again with a third character), you'll have to play both routes, so chose whichever you feel like. Yep, but story-wise is it better to play Yunica or Hugo first? Or both at the same time? Does it matter at all?

so if you have an ISO you can't use the patch? Correct! Unless you buy the game, no patch for you! ;3 See also: unless the game is 16-bit or under, 1996 or earlier, you will not get help here. In other words, we will not help you pirate Ys Origin. I hope you can understand. So if we're using an ISO the patch won't work? Or am I missing something? I didn't bother bringing my disc from home cos I knew I had an ISO version and I didn't want my lovely YsO copy to get scuffed If this is true I'm going to punch myself.

I actually cannot confirm this, I was just jumping on the anti-piracy wagon. HOWEVER, yeah, you may punch yourself harder for this: after patching, you no longer need the YsO discs. I'm actually kicking myself because I don't have any of my Falcom discs on me right now; the cost of traveling light when moving from point a to point b.

Considering the likelihood that I will have a job within the week or so? I would say that there's a chance of a reunion soon!

Yep, but story-wise is it better to play Yunica or Hugo first? Or both at the same time? Does it matter at all? It doesn't matter at all. They're like alternate realities (like in "what if it was this character who was the hero"). The "true" story, the one that fits within the series' continuity, is the third character's.

And korzic, I got all the Roos' descriptions and they all have overflowing text for me. They also have different names in the list and in the book. I already sent a message to doppi to tell him.

I already checked those entries a few days ago (couldn't update, or even remove, the .txt file in my previous post), but thanks for the confirmation. Aside from the name/area inconsistencies for those entries, these are the other things I sent him (minor spoilers): - Selecting Adol for Time Attack/Arena mode, his name at the bottom of the screen shows up as "yAh<z" - When unlocking stuff in the Bonus shop, it says "Pre-release" for stuff already obtained. Would "Complete" or "Clear" or something similar be better? When I saw the "Arena Stage {Pre-release}", I at first thought it was another stage to be unlocked, due to the wording. - Speaking to the 1st Roo as Demonic Toal (in the Wailing Blue area), one of it's lines has a space between the parentheses and the text, whereas most other "thought text" doesn't have those spaces.
About the only thing I haven't checked yet is whether or not the hidden boss' name and title is typo-free, but I'll wait to do that (probably not an issue).

First of all I'd like to extend the biggest thank you I can muster possible to everyone behind this project. It's getting rarer as the years go on to see a translation project actually come to completion. Considering it opens up an entire game to a while new audience, it's a wonderful thing. That being said, I think this issue was mentioned once in this topic but the poster figured it out on their own. On launching the game (Groupon version) I'm met with random symbols and mostly C's instead of normal dialogue. Here's a screencap. This was after installing the Groupon version, installing the patch, running the game with applocale, and using the launcher from NeoGaf. I haven't experienced anything in the line of crashes, but I'm assuming I missed something along the way?

Did you install the Extra Disc before installing the translation patch?

Ah, no I did not. I was under the assumption the Groupon version bypassed the need for the Extra Disc install. So I guess I'll have to re-install everything from the beginning and see what I get then?
