This is disturbing... Alright, I had a problem with the Ys VI. After a successful installation and patching until 1202 English (which the game works beautifully) I reload my save and now I couldn't speak to any villager because every time I hit the OK/Attack button I immediately hit them and killed them... Is this some kind of bug? re-installing wouldn't work at all - re-installing and re-patching is no good either. Even after a fresh game start and deleting the %user%appdata%roaming%FALCOM%YS6_WIN help!

Hm. IT might be because you are using a save file from BEFORE applying the patch. Patch modifies some files. So maybe your save file detects the "change", and Genocide Mode usually happens when people touch previously untouched game files.
I'd say that's more likely to be the case, unfortunately...
However, it's ALSO possible to activate Genocide Mode without touching any files in any way, but how exactly it's triggered is a bit unknown. In YsF, I accidentally activated it by INCREDIBLY overleveling in the VERY beginning of the game (like, level 30 before being able to even ENTER Tigray Quarry, by going to Elderm Mountains early), but it bugged just a certain save file. It would be fixed as soon as I restarted the game and didn't touch that save file. With that save file I was able to temporarily affect other save files with Genocide Mode to use it for my benefit (there's an incredibly "hidden" bug related to it, in which you can kill yourself to level up and resurrect), by loading the bugged save file first, then load non-bugged ones (that get bugged until the game is restarted).
I have heard rumors of people activating it on PC versions of YsF by making Adol's HP go beyond 999 or something. Although I think it caps at 999 anyways.
That's all I know. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The Genocide mode...sounds disturbing alright...
I managed to replicate the problem on my laptop again. I raised the white flag though, just deployed the Ys VI into another PC - no problems in there.
Thank you both for the attention spent :-D
