Anyone picking up Atelier Iris for PS2 today? I just got my copy and brought it home on my break from work, but I won't get a chance to actually play it in any decent sense until much later this evening. Shortly following work, I have to make a mini road trip to pick up my new dog, and then I'll finally be able to play it. I don't know if anyone's even remotely interested in this game since Ys OIF comes out tomorrow, but its worth a shot. Anyone else who picks up this title, please share your thoughts and impressions of the game here.

I picked up my copy the day before yesterday, and I am enjoying it immensely. The "new" 2D games on the next-gen systems truly shine, and I hope it's a trend that companies like NIS will continue to do for years to come. 2D turn based and/or action rpgs have always been my favorite. I enjoy the fact that you can interact with the environment so fluidly by extracting elements for alchemic purposes etc. Anyone else have a chance to check this game out? I'm all for it at this point, and I'm looking forward to hearing anyone else's impressions. Like I said when the thread was created, however, I don't expect much until after the OIF buzz goes down.

I've been playing it somewhat...about four hours in;p I too am enjoying it. I, however, hated how the voice acting would occasionally skip so I ended up turning it down so that I could get rid of that annoyance;p So far the story is kind of slow...but the battles are really fun! Though as soon as Oath in Felghana gets here...I'm gonna stop for a while ... Ys = More important to play through than most games;p Beyd

I picked mine up and put about 12 hours into it. It's a pretty neat little game, but I wound up dropping it for other, more fun RPGs that I purchased earlier and never really got around to playing, such as Shin Megami Tensei - Nocturne. Atelier Mana has lovely music, but the graphics and severe audio problems with the VA annoyed me. Amusingly enough, installing the game onto my HDD with HDLoader only made the VA glitches worse, not better. Blech.

Got about 25 hours clocked on. Spent a ton of time synthing and after putting it down about a week ago, I have had zero urge to pick it back up.
Bleh.

It's for that very reason that I greatly prefer Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. Well, that and the better graphics, better music, and much more "hands-on" control over character stat and ability development. Nocturne is absolutely swell, however, once you get used to it... Just slower.
