Ys: The Oath in Felghana has been announced for Steam release on March 19, and Ys: Origins' release date is tba. Thank you very much, XSEED! It makes me wonder........Will Steam Felghana have the voice acting from PSP version? If so, i would make 100 Steam accounts just to buy the game on each account.

Ooh, Ys Origin too! I was wondering if XSEED was considering working with the fan translators to bring the game to a wider audience. Could XanaNext be next? Either way, awesome news.

This made me wonder.... if Ys Origin is going to be released on Steam, in an official official proper English port of the PC stuff..... what shall happen to the Doppiapunta and everyone patch? ~ That would technically be rendered... em.... obsolete, ne? On the grounds that it would be stepping pretty close to the.... official territories? ...Then again. That patch is meant for people who want to own physical copies of le actual game. ^ ^;~ Also! Wow! I saw this late! Shows I should look around more carefully and often over here! This is giving me some motivation finally to actually attempt my hand at trying out these Steam stuffs! (And it WOULD be super lovely if the Sora no Kiseki stuffs got released on Steam [though I think I would STILL prefer the PSP versions X'D]).

Steam Achievements are Steam's version of XBox achievements and PlayStation Trophies, Cloud support means essentially that Steam can host your save games, and Leaderboards means that we're all going to be competing in how well we can play these games. Now I'm even more stoked!

I hate how this thread is burried under: Ys III and The Oath in Felghanan / Ys: The Oath inf Felghana/ Though we are discussing about Ys Origin here too! And XSEED Steam probably? I was really hoping that ValveTestApp would have been TitS Better jokes you see "bought tits from steam" etc. lol But Origin seems like a perfect pick too. Felghana & Origin probably the best Ys games for PC. And Origin is a new title for XSEED too? But Does this mean I ll have to break my promise about not buying Steam stuff anymore? :&/

I love the price. Day 1 purchase for me. I doubt I can do that. My computer parts ll arrive if lucky tomorrow(well today since it is wed now) but at worst case on Friday or Monday. And then I still need to get the parts together and the machine running. And A Critical Hit Question: How does buying from Steam work? And does it matter if my network freezes for a small time quite often?

Purchasing on Steam is actually quite easy. They offer a variety of payment options, and when you have made a purchase, *IT IS YOURS* -- delete and re-download your games as much as you want!
The *only* downside is that *many* games on Steam have DRM, which requires Steam to be online and running. There are some exceptions, such as Eversion and NightSky. Most of the exceptions are indie games.

What kind of download system does it support/have? Does it automatically continue the download if there's some disturbance i.e. connection loss? And is it possible to continue downloading? Or does it just start from the beginning? It is quite frustrating to download 200mb rar for two weeks and still not know when ll you get it. The *only* downside is that *many* games on Steam have DRM, which requires Steam to be online and running. There are some exceptions, such as Eversion and NightSky. Most of the exceptions are indie games. Does that mean I can't play these games if they have DRM? Since network goes off for some time..

My connection isn't all that sturdy either, but I haven't yet had issues. I can't say for sure whether or not you will. IIRC, downloads are managed by Steam, with the ability to pause and resume downloads. The only issue that may be present is the need to re-download games, should some random downloading error occur. (This is similar to downloading ZIP and RAR files that appear to be "corrupt", but aren't actually corrupt on the servers. Just try again.) You can verify the integrity of the files after downloading.
// Your biggest concerns may be the DRM and Steam Cloud. If you can't connect to Steam on Steam Cloud enabled games, you may not be able to save your progress and achievements. As far as DRM is concerned, as far as I know, you only have to be connected to start up the game. After that, I can't verify whether or not you still need to be connected.
// Correction: With regards to Steam's DRM, you do not need to be online unless Steam thinks that there is an important update online that must be installed. You still need Steam to be running in the background. There are actually fewer games that have any real heinous DRM. Those are mostly by the big wigs at EA, Ubisoft, and a few other companies.

The DRM varies from game to game. A lot of the games I have are allowed by Steam to start in an "offline" mode if I'm not connected when I boot the game.

I hope it ll be ok with my network connection too Actually I'm not sure if Steam is even affected by those network freezes I'm having. I'd say about 95% times connection loss takes so little time that not all programs are affected by it. I don't know which side does Steam go. Without msn messenger, some mmorpgs and downloads I wouldn't even notice it. I think.
