A pity it wasn't possible to put subtitles in the cut scenes. Then, it would be perfect.

A pity it wasn't possible to put subtitles in the cut scenes. Then, it would be perfect. I wouldn't give up on someone dubbing Dawn of Ys just yet. There's one guy who says he's going to do it, & there might be some truth to it, so the guy I know (who happens to be using my audio files for Lilia, Bami, & Dr. Flair) is holding off to see if this guy is telling the truth. If nothing comes of it, then he'll go full steam like he did with the Drac X patch. However, he'll probably need some more voice actors in the mix, since none of us have been able to get Justus Johnson to respond to us. We've been trying to contact him to see if he has any of the original english voice takes that were done BITD other then the ones I already have. So, eventually, I think there will be a full english Dawn of Ys.

Unf, if Napishtim makes it somewhere down the line I will be so content on having the Holy Trinity in one place, in English and with delicious achievements and such. Of course, since I'm figuring that they'll be evil enough to make unlocking Yunica's schoolgirl outfit in Ys Origin an achievement, I better well be able to use my Japanese saves.. as I'm roughly 75% to that point and an English replay in Nightmare would just be dandy.

I hope that dub happens someday, ParanoiaDragon.
And Wyrd, any chance for a Gurumin release on Steam? I don't know which company released it for PSP, but maybe the rights for the PC version would be available?

It's still my favorite Falcom game, and I think it has quite a lot of potential for western appeal. Between its Diablo-like look and feel, its complex weapon and skill system, its exceptional Metroidvania-esque dungeon designs and the fact that it can *kind* of be marketed as a pseudo-sequel to Faxanadu (with which old-school NES gamers in North America are likely at least slightly familiar), I think it's probably the most marketable PC Falcom title outside of the Ys and Legend of Heroes series, by far. -Tom That's the thing... if you try to sell it as a Diablo-like, fans of dungeon crawlers will think it is a bad game because drops are fixed and there is little customization other than what skills you equip at a certain time & what you choose to level up. It isn't one. If anything it works better as a Zelda clone. I like Xanadu Next and I'd gladly buy it on Steam, but it is the hardest Falcom game for me to figure out how to pitch to others. Ys is about the snappy gameplay and challenge, SnK is about being a solid JRPG with engaging story and characters (after the story actually starts....), Zwei is about the personality of the style of the game. Xanadu Next is... um... about the music, grade at the end of the game, and easily being able to 2 shot the final boss screwing you out of one of the best and most Falcom rock-style song in the game?

It's waiting for download as we speak! Best of luck to those at XSeed, as I hope the sales impress.

Love the icons. Shame about that 20 hour save achievement.. talk about literal mindless time sink.
The only one I don't quite get is "Legacy Pervert". I'm not familiar with getting Elena's measurements in Felghana. I only know how to do it to Feena & Tarf in Ys I & II
Also, I've already achieved all of these minus Legacy Pervert, Wanderer from Ys, Like a Boss (maybe on my Very Easy & Easy runs I got lucky), and Overachiever on the JP Release w/ fan patch ;P

I suck too much at Laser Hopscotch and Galbalan Tennis to avoid taking any hits there. Of course, I've never played below Normal so maybe on a lower level it would be easy enough.

Now available on Steam! I think this will make the 4th version of Ys III I've purchased, after the original SNES cart, importing the Premium box, then the XSEED PSP version. Although I doubt I'll play it again, I happily made the purchase just to support XSEED! So does this mean I won't be called a pirate anymore when I install?

Why buy a game for fourth time when you can buy it as a gift?

Just tell them that it is Diablo mixed with Zelda mixed with Metroidvania. That usually gets people's attention. The puzzle like structure of the game world and the way that the RPG mechanics are perfectly integrated and balanced with that structure is why the game is special. Certainly I don't think everyone will be amazed by the game as many people are more interested in customisation than level design. In that regard, Xanadu Next doesn't compete with the likes of Diablo.

So who's the pervert here, Adol or you. Actually, where did the stats come from? I didn't think Falcom regularly provided the three sizes of its heroines.
