www.gamespot.com/news/2005/09/15/screens_6133335.html?page=2Looks ...different. Though I am eager to see how the controller expansion idea will pan out. Also, just want to know how the revolutions games will play, and how that controller will work on GC games and the games available to download from Nintendo. Anyone else have any thoughts? Beyd

Nintendo just couldn't stand out by doing more or less the same thing the other companies do.
This isn't just "making a different controller"
This is Nintendo's trademark "exploring new possibilities".
Remember the analog stick? What about the Rumble Pak? Or Zelda's targetting system? Or full-3D platforming itself?
The list goes on.... and depending of what "new games" Nintendo is planning for their "new idea" - who knows? Maybe we'll end up seeing "immitations" again on other consoles.
History repeats itself....
Now for Nintendo DS. You can't really judge it this early. It is a new idea, and from my observations they are exploring new possibilities of gaming. Whether it fails or not as a system doesn't seem the important thing. The point of it IMO is what they learn from the DS today will bring us bizarre stuff in the future. Same goes with the Revo. Bare in mind how video games today have become (compared to old school anyway)....
PS: Looks weird....

There's supposed to be a "shell" that you can put the remote in for traditional gameplay. It'll still make use of the tilt sensor thingie.
The mistake Nintendo made was showing off the "remote" without the shell.

I once had a PS1. It broke.
I once had another PS1. It broke.
My friend once had a PS2. It broke.
I have a PS2. It is starting to sound funny.
I don't like Sony.

It's still prototype though.
I predict the chord that connects the "remote" and the "analog stick" portion would disappear.

I predict the chord that connects the "remote" and the "analog stick" portion would disappear. That's wouldn't be a good idea. It wouldn't be a nunchaku-like controller anymore and Nintendo wouldn't get the same popularity than Nokia got with their side-talking N-gage. To make a really deep metaphor "Nintendogs amazed me"

I just saw a video demonstration of the controller last night.
You guys gotta see it too. It wiped all my horrible impressions about it.
It seems that Nintendo's motto is "Our games cannot be ported to other systems"

I've seen the video too. And it made me realize that Nintendo is never going to have NORMAL games on their systems ever again... only weirdo Nintendo games. And while that may make for a fun distraction... it's not what I'm looking for in video gaming. -Tom Who knows? What am I gonna do to you if I see you playing it in the future (and looking terrifyingly crazy doing it)? Anyway Besides PS3, this will be a buy for me ^^

Systems can be judge only after they die IMO

Systems can be judge only after they die IMO I agree with you 100%, Haven. But when can we judge the PC? Looking at the Revolution controller so far (not including the shell) seems confusing. I'll play it for myself to reek the comforts that the reviews claim, assuming I get one. If there isn't another Ys game on the Revolution...

I'll play it for myself to reek the comforts that the reviews claim, assuming I get one. If there isn't another Ys game on the Revolution... Yeah PC is judged differently. But what PC gaming does IMO is to "keep up" with what console gaming can do. PC's main purpose isn't gaming in the first place. So I think you can't really judge the PC by looking at it as a game console (which it isn't). Instead, you judge PC games individually.

PC's main purpose isn't gaming in the first place. True. You can create console games with it, for instance.
By the way, I'm pretty sure that the upcoming Revolution console will feature lots of Star Wars/swording games. It's like the Revolution controller is meant for these kinds of games.
I wonder... It's rather easy for other companies to copy this controller idea and create one for other consoles. So the controller alone shouldn't be Nintendo's only ace in their hands. Hmmmm, I wonder...This is Nintendo we're talkin bout here ^^
