Anyone who makes their opinion on this thing off of still pics is crazy. They'll change they're minds once they see the video and see what it does in action. No one has explained it fully here, so i'll have to be the first... What you see as a "tv remote" is actualy a motion detection system. Sensors that will be place at the left and right sides of your tvs will pic up signals from the controller as you move it forward, back, left, right, rotate it, tilt it, whatever. Swing the controller, and the sword on your TV will be swung in the exact same fashion. Basicaly every developer in the world is head over heals for this innovative jump... and yes, nintendo will get games no other system will be able to have... but will it get games other systems have? Yes. Theres an attachment to the controller that allows developers to port over any game from any console. It'll be somewhat like using a GC wavebird controller with a motion sensor built in. and all u PC gamers, you SHOULD be thrilled here. Developers have been saying that this thing is even better than using a mouse+keyboard combo for Strategies and FPS. and, I think the idea of using the controller to swing a sword could take Ys to a whole new level. in early Ys games, you had to run into enemies at the right angle to defeat them, right? well, thats like emulating the feel of slashing at the right angle and breaking through the enemy's gaurd. They could even implement this while keeping the Ys 2D overhead look. I dont think that fatigue would be much of a problem. You can still sit on you behind for the whole time and just simply move your wrist or something. And do most gamers even play for over 2 or 3 hours without some kind of break? stuff like the eye toy requires you to move a lot more than this would, yet thats doing realy well. With the revolution, if your not in the mood to get into character and actualy move for once, then have a seat (like you've probably already been doing)... simple as that. (sorry for bumping an old topic but I had to say something.. ) ever since I started college and asked what ppl thought of the controller, It surprised me how uninformed ppl were (especualy since im in Game Design, you'd think they'd be more aware of the future of development). I cant beleive most ppl still think that it's just a basic 2 button "tv remote".

Well, judging from developer response (both western and eastern) this will likely be the next big thing, unlike the DS. They wont just be throwing gimicky ideas at it and saying theyve done something new like that. And if Soulcalibur 4 comes out on PS3/Xbox360, it'll easily be ported to the revolution with the option to do stuff like navigate menus just by pointing and clicking. If they get Need for Speed, rev will get it too with the option to steer however you want (old way/new way). but If revolution gets a DMC that lets you slash and shoot by moving the controller, that'll stay exclusive. the thing is, it'll STILL have the plain old buttons and analog stick AND a whole new way to play. but unlike the DS, the use of the new features is an option.
Its fine that you just dont like the controller and dont want a change (I felt liek that at first), but I just see this as an actual revolution in gaming that cant be missed. the buttons and stick will soon be the old way to game... its not the controller that makes me say this, its the variety in developer support that the console is already getting (Kojima of Metal Gear Solid is deeply in love with it). Theres already chances that the next original street fighter could land on it. I think most ppl would end up having revolution as their secondary console, next to the PS3/Xbox 360. but i realy dont think anyone will go with out atleast trying this thing.
I would get a PS3 too, just incase the revolution cant have the best of both worlds, but the comments from kutaragi that the console might be the most expensive of the generation realy turn me off... also, you'll be forced to use that "batarang" version of dual shock without option, you're old PS2 and PSOne controllers will be useless. If this stuff changes, PS3 will probably be my secondary console.
I guess its too early to decide what system will be the one to get...
