Hello and welcome to the forum Horikawa! It's great to see that this project has picked back up and I'm excited to see your screenshots and progress above. : )
Sadly, I've not made it too far in the game to be able to be of much help with providing saves. My Japanese is not that good to really be able to understand how to play the game well enough.

Kil has given me permission to translate this. I'm not using any of Kil's original translation (except a couple phrases I liked here and there), but I am using his incredible program. I'm about 30% done. The most annoying part is found in having to play the darn game though. Does anyone have saves they can find or share or something so that I can load maps, etc? Or does anyone know a code or cheat to instant-win maps? It'd help me test this dialogue a lot. I am not going for a 1-1 dictionary literal translation, but instead what is known as a meaning-literal translation. In the translation field, this means that every word and grammatical phrase is represented in some way, but this can be through slang, dialogue, punctuation, etc. This style also focuses on meanings, so collocations, idioms, diminuatives, etc. will be translated to their nearest English equivalents rather than translating them directly. Additional content can, and will, be written in order to give context as Japanese is a highly contextualised language. Before I get requests, I am not taking editors, beta testers, etc. Currently I have an editor and all beta testing will be done by me. However, if people can supply me with saves, I will distribute your names in a "thank you" in the txt file to be distributed with the eventual patch. Haa, sort of lucky; I was just googling this game's name looking to see if anyone was translating it. And this would be a good excuse to replay it. Are there any specific characters / campaigns you need saves for? I could replay it and create saves for each level as I go, if that would help.

I'm sorry for the delay - I've been running a contest and it's been simply devouring my time. But that's over and I'm returning to the project. No but if you could do that, I'd be SO THANKFUL. That would save me so much time it'd be incredible. I plan to translate the whole game, so any characters would work. However, as I'm playing through right now as Momosuke, he's a lower priority than the others. If we could get a bunch of people together to record videos of the dialogue before and after each battle (or supply replays, or screenshots of the dialogue, or saves or whatever), I could get this entire thing done extremely quickly. Possibly in as little time as a month or two. Believe it or not, I'm a professional translator irl, so this is child's play to me. It's just a matter of seeing the context and making sure I'm not assigning the wrong speaking styles to the wrong characters (I only have dumps of the dialogue, not who's saying it).

I really wish I could help you on that, but I don't have VM Japan (yet) . Yes, I could always download it, but I'll feel very bad doing so :/ (even though I'll eventually buy it.) ...Because there's no videos of every scenario on niconico, right? Thanks a lot for working on this BTW! It is much appreciated! I LOVE VM Japan music!

Latest update!!
Game is coming along slowly, but well. Time has been an issue (isn't it always), but it's particularly bad here since there's such a low text-game ratio.
I basically have to beat the game like a billion times to make sure dialogue boxes are properly assigned, etc.
Anyway, I've got two paths completly done.
Still looking for help here though! I could knock this whole game out in about a week if I had a better way to dialogue check =/. To that end, I'm looking for people who will play through the game as a character (possibly on the easiest settings or whatever) and then take screenshots of each dialogue box before and after battles.
If we can get enough people doing this, or if each person handles 2-3 paths, then I could get the information I'd need and we'd have another Falcom game brought to the English speaking world. I'd then release a patch somewhere.

What do you mean? If you're worried about piracy issues, the game is freeware. falcom.com/vantage/index_e.htmlOr is this a different version?
It even looks like it's been Falcom-translated. Imma have to get this.

Why the freeware of Vantage Master Online, though? I don't know. Because Falcom wanted to, I guess. They've since remade the game and released it on PSP as Vantage Master Portable.

I'm gonna take a look at that. When I Google (or Bing, I do both, can't remember) 'ed the post, I ended up with that Falcom link.
Initial reading makes me interested in this. I'm gonna have to go with the version Falcom's offering directly. Looks neat, and I have a Windows XP box it'd run perfect on.

Alright guys! Some major developments here. So, I had gotten a couple people to help me, but they almost immediately dried up. So I began seeking other methods of getting this done. I found this *AMAZING* software called Cheat Engine and, through its EXTREMELY good (but very hard ;- tutorials, I was able to find out how to edit the life counters of the game dynamically. So I have found out that the address 00A84Ed4 (VMJP.EXE+684ED4 according to the program... Whatever that means) holds the enemy life. You set that to 0 and... On the next turn, they lose instantly! Suddenly testing doesn't seem so bad! Now I've just gotta get back to doing the actual work, but I've got a way to breeze through the game now, which is what I really needed.

Hey everyone, it's me again, although I forgot my old account info from long ago.
Anyone know how I can buy or otherwise get this game again? I lost it awhile ago in a HDD crash. Amazingly enough I still have all my tools and stuff for unpacking the game and translation, but I can't find the actual game anymore on the internet.
