Check out the trailers at www.sega.com/games/game_temp.php?game=shiningforce The Anime Cut scenes look mouth watering. Cant wait

Nuh-uh. The original Shining Force was remade for the GBA last year or so. Shining Force Neo has pretty much nothing to do with the Shining Force series, from a gameplay standpoint. It's a Diablo-clone not unlike Shining Soul, Shining Soul II, and Shining Tears, only vastly superior to all three of those atrocities put together.

The GBA remake of the very first Shining Force (Genesis/Mega Drive) is the game you speak of, MP83. Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon is a comprehensive remake (not a port) of the original Shining Force: Legacy of Great Intention.

This game looks interesting. If have enough money after buying a DS and Fire Emblem Path of Radience, I might just pick this up.

Yep... Shining Force I on the Genny/Megadrive was subtitled "Legacy of Great Intention." The GBA game pretty much replaced it, IMHO. Better graphics and music, more characters, weapons, battles, maps, etc. And better replay, in the form of a pseudo New Game+ mechanic that makes the game harder every time you beat it.

I dunno reason i said it was a remake is cuz both main characters names in Shining force 1 and Neo are Named Max

Yep. Hell, they might even be the same Max. But the games are TOTALLY different.
It'd be like saying that Super Mario RPG is a remake of Super Mario Brothers, simply because they both happen to star the same character as the lead.

Hmm, I believe Shining Force 1 for Mega Drive does not have a subtitle. At least not the PAL version. So Shining Force Neo lacks the strategy elements that the "regular" Shining Force games do. Fantastic! Has anybody played Shining Tears? It's just like Shining Force, but the battles are more action-based. Oh, and the very first game in the series is actually Shining in the Darkness (Shining and the Darkness in Japan) for Mega Drive. It got a "sequel" or sorts. Called Shining the Holy Ark. For Sega Saturn. Fantastic game.

Yep, the Shining Series started off with Shining in the Darkness. I love that game too. But my favorite subset of the Shining Series is the Shining Force collection of games. The US version had a subtitle "Legacy of Great Intention." It was on the title screen, not on the box or manual artwork, where it was just referred to as Shining Force.
I have all of the US games in the series, including Shining Tears. It was created by the same unfortunate bastards who made the Shining Soul GBA games, and is as bad as those titles. As far as Diablo clones/dungeon hacks are concerned, Shining Soul and Shining Tears are about as bad as you can get on their respective systems. I'm hoping Shining Force Neo fixes that problem, since it was handed over to more competent developers.

From what I've seen, this seems to be a real-time battle game. IMHO, this is stepping out of the tradition of all former Shining Force games (admittedly, I've never been a fan of Shining Force), so I'm probably not going to check this one out.

As I said earlier in the thread, it's a real-time Action RPG very much like Diablo. They really should NOT have called it Shining "Force".

Either way I think It looks like a good game. Its out now but none of the store in my area seem to carry it. Its just like Ys VI nobody has it. I hate the stores around here all they carry is sports and fighting games

The only two knocks I can give SFNeo are: 1.) The localization is horrible. Funny, in a terrible and unfortunate way. 2.) Single-player only. WTF? This kind of game was CREATED for multiplayer. Shining Soul I, Shining Soul II, and Shining Tears all feature similar gameplay with multiplayer mode. SFNeo is BY FAR the best of the bunch, but is single-player only. Oh well.
That said, anyone that digs Diablo or the classic Record of Lodoss War ARPG, will love SFNeo.

I got the game today! It seems like a really good game! ...But I am a bit pissed. I'm stuck! I am supposed to return home and eat that girl's food, but I can't find that house! I've been wandering around town for 15 minutes but the house is nowhere to be found. I might check a walkthrough. Otherwise I'll just put the game away and never touch it again. That's what I usually do. The game seems to be pretty similiar to YsVI though. That's interesting.

I was going to pick it up, but I saw a demo of it and it looked way too confusing, so I backed off.

Confusing? The game's very straight-forward.
Seldane, Max's home is in the NW part of town, roughly one screen away from the airship.
