Actually, it does have a story! But if you are going to play for the story, then I suggest you don't. xD Ys-world-wise, it doesn't make sense and is full of nonsense. In-game you have a lot of Ys fanservice here and there, too, but story-wise, it makes no sense. By the way, they have 4 pages dedicated to its story, actually, in Chinese: Ys.wasabii.com.tw/ys_legend/legend_A.shtmlYs.wasabii.com.tw/ys_legend/legend_B.shtmlYs.wasabii.com.tw/ys_legend/legend_C.shtmlYs.wasabii.com.tw/ys_legend/legend_D.shtmlYou'll have to run Google Translate on those. About quests, no worries. 99.99999% (if not 100%) of the quests are done by: Killing stuff then talk to someone; Gathering needed materials to hand over then talk to someone or; [c] Just talking to someone in itself is enough to complete a quest. So getting them done usually isn't a problem.
What to kill or hand over, though, is a bit troublesome at first, but you get the hang of it in comparing characters between what the quest says and then enemies from the same level range as your quest's, or materials' names.

The YouTube tags work, but you may have to enable content from ytimg, and YouTube on NoScript, and possibly disable ABP on seldane.proboards.com (or just find and delete YouTube and ytimg from ABP's filters.)

Nah, NoScript and ABP were not it, thanks tho oncemore It was due to using a short yt URL instead of the full yt URL what was causing the problem, thanks mp

By the way, another person joined us, Gabrielle. He's registered in this forum, I think. Also, I have tried PMing Pal and SkyeWelse in game for some days, but none of the times I tried they were online.

Oh yeah, I haven't been online because I went on a trip to visit a friend.
Also, since my computer is slow I don't log in so much in the game. Tell me at what time all of you will be online and I'll try to log in then.

Sadness. xD But the estimate turned out to be true - that it'd be terminated before 2013. Oh well, we got to see some interesting peculiarities of this server. And how it relates to the EU and JP servers. Now I wonder if we should record some YsOL TW bug videos and other kinds of videos before this one closes as well. I perhaps might record some. Oh, and we definitely should go to that one dungeon, using those expensive cards, which we had seen before in YsOL JP screenshots at times. Hm, we never found an Adol NPC in the end, which was also seen in some YsOL JP screenshots. It was interesting to see Homunculi finally had skills in this, as well. And how people somehow could challenge one another to a PVP battle in the middle of Fiera Harbor, too. xD Anyway, hopefully it won't be the last of Ys Online: who knows if the Global version won't eventually come out. Although, regardlessly, we perhaps should look up on how to set up a private server by ourselves, as well. I have the installer of 3 EU versions (including latest), 1 ancient KR version, 1 TW version (latest) and 1 JP version (latest). Aside those installers, I still have the latest update files of the EU, JP and TW versions. I will upload all of those here at some point. In the end, I lack the latest KR installer, any CH installer, and the latest update files of the KR and CH versions. All else, though, we already do have. Obtaining the KR ones could be veeery nice, as well, as it had features no other version had (costume enchanting etc.).

Well, that wasn't anything we weren't expecting.
Say, is there a way to get a clean rip of the launcher music from the TW client? I loved listening to that song while waiting for the updates to download.

I loved listening to that song while waiting for the updates to download. www.mediafire.com/?7b6e77o2tdppbk3I uploaded it, but I found it I think 1 month back or so in some random website somewhere. And, agreed, this soundtrack is amazing.

*wears headphones* *relistens* Hm... I don't hear it... On my end it sounds normal as always? Are you sure it's not your headphones? Or maybe it's the program used? I'm using good old Windows Media Player that came with my Windows Vista. Eitherway, I don't think it's possible for us to manually record it again... Neither the JP or TW Launchers can be started normally again. The only way would be to discover how to convert the game's audio files or by making the Launcher start by editing it to make it point to a non-official YsOL server (IP) which could be created.

Hm, maybe checking the game's data while running it would have been a good way to tell when the music is "called", because I suspect the files get decrypted by the game itself "on-the-fly". Meaning the encryption/decryption code(s) might be there. Although they might vary for each file.
I think if we analysed what the "Launcher.exe" (EDIT: Erm, I guess that's actually called "YsUpdate.exe" is made of, it could lead us to somehow find out the "code" for "Launcher.fsb" (EDIT: I noticed there's also a "Launcher.fev" file. I wonder why only for it), which might be easier than trying to do the same on the game (client) itself, which is many times bigger etc.. And if we do, even if the code differs for the other tracks, maybe it could give us a "pattern" for each, I don't know.
At times like these I wish I took the "Information Security & Networking" course in my college. xD I know nothing. :/
Edit 1: Hm, "Launcher.fev", if opened with SimpleText or MS Word, has "Launcher.wav" written within it. I wonder what that could imply. Edit 2: I guess it simply means the .fsb files are converted to .wav before being played. I thought the game directly played the .fsb files. I think Launch.fev does the "password check" that gets automatically input by the Launcher (YsUpdate.exe) and, if "true", makes Launcher.fsb a .wav file. (I don't doubt I'm completely, hilariously wrong on any of this, though. xD)
Edit 3: Can you try some keywords for Launcher.fsb? They are:
000tkdnsem
00tkdnsem000
tkdnsem
kdnsem
000tkdns
tkdns
tkdnse
kdnse

W00T! XD I think I kind of did it?! I decided to finally get the program. =p Apparently the decryption keyword is "tkdnsem"! It seemed that the .wav conversion was going fine...? Except then I stumbled upon the following error: imgur.com/bjPPWI know I did get the keyword right, because whenever I got it wrong, I got a clear error message saying "Wrong keyword." and the program closed each time. It probably didn't work for me, because my computer is "japanese-fied", I believe, as one can tell from some of the characters seen in the screenshot I took. It probably will work for you, MP. By the way, that was the "Music_1.fsb" file. EDIT: OK, changing my PC settings to run non-Unicode programs from a JP setup to an EN one did not do the trick. And the gibberish JP text from before got replaced by another kind of gibberish text. What now? Edit 2: Did the same with KR and TW, now. Still nothing. D: I ran out of ideas, aside trying a different program for the conversion job, but I don't think that'd work... Edit 3: Wait, there are 2 encryption codes? How can I use the 2nd one? Because no matter what I type, the program always interprets it as if I was attempting to use the keyword for the first one. IS there any option in the program for me to change it so it'll assume I'm typing the keyword for the 2nd encryption?

@_@ By the way, I tried used using a program called Game Extractor, but it's no good at all, definitely not meant for this. Do you know of any other FSB programs? Could be either an FSB player or converter. I searched, but I couldn't find any. EDIT: I found an FSB player and converter, but the problem is that it won't play or convert the files since they are encrypted, and unlike the software we were using, this one does not decrypt the files. =/ I wondered if decrypting it with some other program or something to then use that one program to play/convert the files would work, but I couldn't find anything to decrypt it with. Here's it, though: Music Player ExP.S.: Did you try using the program from before with the keyword I provided?
