The new "devs" is just one dude: Christian Whitehead (aka The Taxman).
He became famous thanks to his Retro Sonic engine which was a pretty damn fine replica of the Genesis era Sonic engine and could run on Dreamcast. His fangame: Retro Sonic then merged with the famous Sonic XG, the project then merged with another fangame Sonic Nexus.
Taxman however, had evolved the engine, allowing Wii ports and eventually iPhone and Android. By this point he showed a video of Sonic CD running on his phone, that's when SEGA contacted him.
While he got some technical support from SEGA, the Sonic CD port is all his labor thanks to his engine (now named Retro SDK). The boy is truly to be admired.

The saddest thing was that the new devs were going to actually create a new, more fitting final boss and create a new zone called Desert Dazzle (inspired by the legendary Dust Hill Zone in Sonic 2 and the missing R2 zone from Sonic CD) but both were pulled because Sega didn't want the remake to stray more from the original than it already had (with Tails and spindashing). I've always hoped they'd come out as DLC but still no word almost a year later. I'm sure hardcore fans wouldn't have been happy about that, but DLC would have been a good idea.

I'm sure hardcore fans wouldn't have been happy about that, but DLC would have been a good idea. If there are "hardcore" fans who don't like that concept, then they're prolly also up in arms about being able to play Tails or the slight tweaks to the physics. I'd consider myself a hardcore fan of Sonic CD and I would've loved to have seen those stages. Of course, if I want the original game, I'd just pop my hardcore physical copy into my hardcore Sega CD on my hardcore CRT

It looks amazing, which is pretty natural for WayForward. I hope to check it out soon!

Seiken Densetsu 3 is an awesome game. I played it back when I was around 15yrs old, the memories. I played as Kevin, can't remember the two other party members I chose.

Double Dragon Neon, great game, & really funny, especially love the ending credits! Did you play alone or with someone else? I usually find those who are playing 2 Player are more likely to say that they love the game. Btw, I love the game Also at @seiken Densetsu 3: Back in college I played through all 3 of the routes and it is a fun game. More rigid than Secret of Mana for better and worse, amazing music, and amazing graphics.

Seiken Densetsu 3 I liked when I first played it, back in the late 90's. I only did one run-through at the time, so I ended up choosing Lise (Star Lancer), Angela (Magus) and Carlie (Bishop). I would always spam the stat. enhancers during boss battles. Also, this was when I had to play the game without any real guides, so I ended up winging it.
Overall, I liked it, though I have a few nits. Mostly it is in the gameplay.
I felt SD3 took things a step backwards with the gameplay, disabling things like running when you were close to baddies, limiting the weapon abilities, not allowing for treasure chests until after you beat every enemy in the field. Also, I felt the game was very unforgiving in 'kicking you while you were still down'. SD2 was bad for that, but I thought SD3 was even worse.
The menu system was terrible and slow to load, making it discouraging to bother with it.
Controls were fine, but they can be frustrating, especially if you hit something to access the slow-loading menus and especially when you are trying to control your character while it is getting gangbanged by a bunch of evil monsters. >_>;
The graphics are a real treat. Even by Playstation 1 standards, the graphics for this game would be pretty good.
Music I always loved. There are so many different tracks for the game (I think at least 100, probably more), covering a lot of possible ground.

Finished my remake run with Growlanser: the Wayfarer of Time and Persona 4: Golden. While I enjoyed both games, I am going to go against the grain and say that I consider Growlanser: the WoT to be better than Persona 4: Golden in both story and gameplay. The biggest problem I had with the setting of Persona 4: Golden was that they added far too much Japanese school anime stereotypes into the game that it lost that dark and philosophical atmosphere unique to the megami tensei series as whole (i.e. Soul Hackers and SMT3: Nocturne). Even though characters in Growlanser: WoT are stereotypical for most part, I found them more likable because the story does not go out of the way to show how annoying they can be. What I hated about Persona 4: Golden's commu is that I have to see characters acting their stereotypes to their logical conclusion for 80% of the events and then something happens that makes them change for the better and they thank you. Of course I am doing it so I can get the new persona and strengthen my allies but I found the whole process so irritating. Sure, Growlanser's "commu" are much simpler and characters are shallower per say but I would rather have that instead of Yosuke any time of the day. As for gameplay, I liked both. Growlanser: WoT looks like you can customize characters through rings and spellstones but each character has certain set of abilities they can learn. Plus, it can get challenging at times since missions have various goals in addition to "Kill all enemies". The battle can get annoying at times because fast enemies will take lots of turns and waste time but it was a good mix of action and strategy. Persona 4: Golden's battle system is standard turn-based game, which is pulled off well since fights can get challenging. Since Persona 4 fixed many problems from Persona 3, I will not mention most of them. They also added some features like skill cards and new shuffle system that make the game simpler. With those features in hand, I was able to use Izanagi until the very end. It would have taken a lot longer to finish the game without them.

Nap Time: Hey Ice King Why'd You Steal PB's Pantyhose? ...was pretty sweet! Wayforward brings us another Zelda II-alike (think Shantae), however it is also short like Shantae: Risky's Revenge. There's only 4 major (but extremely tiny) dungeons, very little in the way of side-questing, the overall content just seemed so compact. For a retail game, this is a bit of a bummer, especially when the existing content is actually pretty neat! I'm not sure which I enjoyed more -- the gameplay or the soundtrack! Oh my glob, it's so awesome! Wayforward needs to keep up with the awesome 2D platformer love, and make longer games while they're at it! I haven't finished the New Game + yet, but I'm hoping it's a LOT harder. So far, I'm already done with the first dungeon. It seems like all that was really affected were enemy stats, and not the AI itself. The AI wasn't all that great, sans for a handful of enemies. If anything, the real challenge is probably to try and scrape by with the bare minimum.

I beat the campaign for Halo Wars. A bit hit and miss, but for an RTS game on a console, it was not bad, at all. Too often, RTS games for the computer get imported to a console, and the controls suck, at best.

I beat Double Dragon Neon on all 3 difficulties, which is a rarity for me. That game is great! I just have 1 more trophy I'm aiming for, the one with the maxed out tapes, I'm pretty much there. The ones I won't bother with are the multiplayer ones, since my wife isn't too much into brawlers.

I recently finished Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for Nintendo DS. I put this one down for awhile, not be cause it was a bad game, but the format of constantly doing mission after mission and revisiting a lot of the same areas became extremely monotonous. Story was rather good though and really branches on the characters of Roxas, Axel and several of the Organization 13 members and builds on more detail that was missed out on players who only played Kingdom Hearts 2.
I think the events of Chain of Memories plus 358/2 Days really fully explain the missing details of Sora, Riku and Roxas quite well leading up to KH2. A fan of the series should try to at least read about what happens in these games even though they aren't numbered titles per se.
I find it amusing that it took me 1005 Days to finish 358/2 Days...
Working on Birth By Sleep for PSP next and Re:Coded for DS so I can hopefully catch up with the latest release of Dream Drop Distance for 3DS, which promises to be the last unnumbered titles to be released before the REAL Kingdom Hearts 3.

I'm kinda in between games right now, but I think the last one I played and finished was actually the Ys: Jukai no Celceta. I tend to dislike the whole "main character has amnesia" cliche mechanism but it allowed us to see unique flashes of Adol's past that was previously unknown. Before that, I played through SOL TRIGGER, another RPG for PSP. It has a Vita port but there are some issues with the sound in it from time to time. I completely got caught up in this game even though I had been playing the Ys game... I actually put Ys on hold to finish this one first. *eep!* Anyway, I have an incomplete fansite for this game if anyone is interested. The music is amazing! I also made a bunch of audio clips as a sort of unofficial soundtrack for it. Yes, I was obsessed quite a lot there for awhile...!! haha Anyway, here's the site: sol.firesanctuary.comI hope some new RPGs will be released soon. I feel like I'm falling into withdrawal after finishing these last two...

Zelda - The Minish Cap
I didn't finished that game before, because Vaati was a very difficult boss, when you don't know how to kill him.

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (some 10 hours before the year changed to 2013) Took me six years! lol But it really is an awesome feeling when you clear something that's been haunting there for so long xD Awesome ending. Though I'd prefer some battles being a little more challenging. Why theres no Time Attack mode for bosses in Zelda games? and only three saves, stupid-

I played Skyward Sword, that was pretty good, don't know how it compares to Twilight Princess since I never had the chance to play it. I'm old-school Zelda, was a fan of the first Zelda for NES back in my childhood days. I'm getting old.

Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are both very awesome -- and in many ways very similar. The only thing that bothered me about Twilight Princess was the gaping plot hole. Zelda sacrificed her life for Midna.
Afterward, you can see that Ganon is holding her hostage. Can someone help me make sense of this?
