After playing a bunch of origin.
Before I played origin, I remember really liking Rhea (or I knew her as "lair" the first time I played Ys1 and 2) for some reason, but after replaying 1 and 2 now, she doesn't really seem to have a whole lot of content.. did she get a nerf to the amount of stuff she says or something? I seem to recall that part in Ys1 when you give her the harmonica to be longer and more profound, but now it seemed like just a little skit.
But whatever, I still like her the most =P. But that said I'm confused about some things still after finishing Ys2 after finishing origin.
In Ys origin, the goddesses had to turn to stone/sleep while subduing the black pearl because they had no energy to live normally after sacrificing their wings... But in Ys2, it looks like they turn to stone, with the pearl...after suddenly getting their wings back? Will they magically dissapear for no reason now in 700 years? err WILL they wake up in 700 years this time? How about the pearl?
am I thinking too hard and this was just a little bit of artistic leeway or something? I just find the cycle of stoned->de-powered victim to a world in disaster->restone to be way too tragic a loop to really justify the whole happy vibe the game gives you at the end.. If that's how it is, I gotta say I'm pretty upset at Adol. I mean all the crap he actively looks for to get involved in, you'd think he'd at LEAST look for a way to definitively DESTROY the black pearl so Rhea/Feena don't have to repeat their dismal life.
If anybody has greater knowledge into this via that perfect works book or whatever I'd appreciate it (or just send me a link or something so I can research this myself =P ).
edit:
I just remembered too that Ys2 kinda leads you to believe that the black pearl is "deader" this time than after origin.. after all, all magic suddenly is drained from the land, and the floating shrine lands back down to earth... Was the black pearl shut off for good now instead of just for 700 years? Are the goddesses stoned for good now? There's just not enough information qq.
