Finally there was at a time a Dreamcast card which could be put inside a PC and play the games. does know anything about it ?

Unfortunately, the page for the game on IGN only says Japan and North America. Usually they put all 3 and put "unreleased" if they dont know if the game will ever be released in that area or say "Import Only" if they're sure its only a Japanese game that wont be released elsewhere. So, I asume by not mentioning Europe at all they're saying it wont be released there... I think it's safe to go with IGN has since, well, it is the International Gaming Network. I actualy have this game (Canadians are also luck ) because I had also bought and liked Ikaruga. Personaly it was a bit disapointing...

I wouldnt say its terrible (although, that was my first impressions) but compared to Ikaruga and most other verticle arcade shooters i like... yeah, i'd have to agree Its deffinately the most regretable purchase ive made for my GC, especialy due to the price tag. I thought that this time (unlike ikaruga) they'd make it a lot more than just a port of an arcade game as consoles demand more than just a single player game with a high scores list... but sadly it ended up having even less than Ikaruga. Plus, I prefer Ikaruga's gameplay and presentation (actualy, i prefer everything in ikaruga...). I guess, unless you liked the DC version (im not sure, was it Japanese only?), its no big loss. Actualy, if you liked the DC version, that probably means you would own it, in which case the GC version is probably useless.

No I don't have a DC. But Since my first games in arcade I allways have been a fan of shooters (quite as much as A-RPG). Since I own GC, I only have Ikaruga (which rocks, but not as fun as Viper Phase arcade), I hoped on another one (are there some others available?... I am gonna buy Shikigami no shiro 1&2 on PC then.

I guess this is a good place to ask because you guys seem to know your arcade shooters well (i love the stuff too). Does anyone know if Blazing Star, Dimahoo, and Shock Troopers 2 (not exactly horizontal/verticle shooter, but still a "shooter" ) came out for any consoles? I've got them for MAME and they're by far my most favorite shooters, i'd love to own them for real. How Gradius 5, btw? yes, btw, i do use emulation, but only under certain conditions (I dont like using GBA emulators, for instance, cuz developers still make profit off those games, for one thing. maybe if i own the game already, then its ok). Half+ the games on MAME are made by out of business developers and it'd be next to impossible to get all those arcade machine into my room . So, I think it's excelent for getting shooters and older, obscure games. In my case, its especialy good because I can study the start of the industry that im trying to get into (im one of the few my age thats been able to play Arm Wrestling by Nintendo). I know this is a bit off topic, but I wanted to explain before one of the uptight emulation nay-sayers attack me for mentioning MAME

Gradius V is freakin' fantastic. My favorite in the series. Treasure breathed much life into a stagnating franchise, it was so obviously a labor of love. It's full of that old Treasure magic, FEELS like a Gradius game should, and Hitoshi Sakimoto's music is an incredible blend of classic Gradius music and new, a very strange synthesis of orchestral music and "classic arcade rock" tunes.
Gradius 5 is probably my favorite shooter of this generation of gaming.

From what I've heard, Gradius V seems to contain lots of techno. That's nasty.

I can share a couple of my favorite songs with you and let you be the judge. I fell in love with the OST before I ever even played the game, and I can't always do that.

ive never heard of "techno" or "rave" soundtracks in a shooter ever sounding bad before. Even chaos field has them and they're realy not all too bad (i still prefer ikaruga's more, but these are ok in a different way). They tend to go along with the fast-paced action and flashy graphics of arcade shooters very well. Technoish music in games can sound good too, if done well (the only way i know techno will sound horrible for sure is if it's from the US vocals and lyrics make it even worse) well, i think i saw some mp3s for the game over at hardcore gaming 101 some time ago, so ill check that out. and is it just me or is my avatar glitchy? i never changed it and the URL is still correct... EDIT: whatever, i decided to just change it entirely...

EH... sorry. I havent played in a while (early January, for about less than a week), and I dont intend to ever try putting that game into my GC ever again... so I dont feel very confident that I will be able to remember it all accurately enough to explain. Also, I have only played the GC version and all I know is that it's based on the extended version of the original (either the arcade or DC version of it, im not sure). Although, I didnt even read the manual for the game and just went in and used my old arcade shooter instincts. I figured it out eventualy and i found it to be pretty easy... Anyways, you can check out a review here, where they explain the gameplay and history in detail: cube.ign.com/objects/705/705909.htmltheres also a post by me in the boards for that game over there, maybe that'll shed some light too. BTW, ive just recently been playing a free Japanese PC game called "Every Extend". Its amazingly fun and adictive. If you dont know what it is, i think it's described as "The Ultimate Uchu Game" or something. Its a lot like an arcade shooter (well, it feels like one) yet its very different too. PSP owners are getting a port with a ton of more content called "Every Extend Extra", so PSP owners can look forward to something cool. Also, yet another new DC arcade game has been announced for port to GC. It sounds much more promising than Chaos Field, even though it has a much more silly sounding name.
