If you haven't played a Shantae game, you don't know what you are missing! These games are a hell of a lot of fun and very vibrant and colorful. This year seems to be the year of not just the re-release of the original Shantae on the Nintendo eShop, or the all-new third game in the series for 3DS coming out later this Winter, but just recently announced is an all new HD adventure for PC and other consoles such as Wii U.
Yeah, I agree with you there on the timing. Especially considering how I wouldn't even think about not getting a higher tier for Shantae if it was in a different month since I do need to budget month-to-month on my gaming hobbies. But, at that same time it seems like a lot of Mno9 fans are taking interest in it, so that's good news as well. : )
Oh and for the hell of it, I bought Mno9.com last night for $1. Not sure sure why, but maybe I'll do something with it. I'm pretty pumped about that one too. I tried telling GMF about it before he left on his trip, but I'm not sure if he got the message in time. I'm certain he'd want to fund the Mighty no. 9 kickstarter.

Well on your recommendation I went ahead and did the $15 pledge on this. Here's to hoping it succeeds. Now to go dig up some old shantae games to play. I remember when the gameboy? version came out. It looked interesting but I never played it.

Hi Xalphenos! Thanks for backing the Shantae project. It's a true gem of 2D platforming/Metroidvania design and all of them are quite unique and have great music and animation. I hope you enjoy playing them! : )
When describing the gameplay I would say that the first Shantae feels a lot like the style of exploration found in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest with the dungeons being more akin to Zelda/Zelda II and the second one expands a bit on this adding new features and new transformation unlocks allowing Shantae to traverse more areas.
I'm in the process of making a tribute site, similar to the (original) one I made for Cave Story awhile ago at Cavestory.org, not the one that is currently there now which was made by the developer that now runs the site/community. It will be at www.shantae.net
Well I have to say, I put a way higher tier pledge to Mighty No.9 simply because they have a physical box tier. Shantae was pretty much all digital, so I only end up in the 12$ category. But in my guts, I think I would put more money down on Shantae, it seem something I want more then No.9. I think just wanted to put that money to No.9 to spite Capcom.

Cool glad to see you backed it too Zoelius. : ) I'm thrilled that they reached their goal. Now it's on the stretch goals! : ) Being able to play as the villian, Risky Boots, ain't half bad to shoot for next. : )
I ended up on the $60 Tier for Mighty no. 9 and the $200 Tier for Shantae. But, it means I will have no Christmas presents this year! lol Ha! Like I care if I get that awesome hardbound artbook in the end! : )
See like this year we get all the genre of games that we been missing from 90s. With Shantae reach its funding goals. The only thing that will make me super happy right now if the River City Ransom sequel reach it target.
I don't think it will reach it goals, since it barely reach 50% after 15 days...

I really wanted to back the River City Ransom Underground as well, along with Mno9 and Shantae, but I'm just outta cash. I definitely plan to buy the game as soon as it gets released though, I just think their timing was unlucky. But that shouldn't stop them from doing another Kickstarter if they don't make it. I'm sure they will though. They still have 8 days to go and are already over half their goal amount.
