Obviously most people are going to say Ys. But what other Falcom game has you going flying in the sky?
For me Brandish 1,2 and 3 somehwhat. Brandish 1 was what really got me to notice Falcom and also the reason I tried the snes Ys 3. The Brandish remake, Dark revenant was superb and is my current favorite. Heres hoping that Falcom bring 2 and 3 over in the same format for Vita =D.
Outta of the Ys games, Id have to say OiF and Origins are by far the bestest. OiF is one of the few I constanly go back to after a couple of months, and now with the english patch of Origins, Im sure that will be the same too.. plus I wanna try that awesome Adol hack patch and have hm ru around killing mwahahaha.
But man was Ark of Nap a let down.. maybe its cuz I played OiF first, but Ark just felt.. unpolished and unfinished.. and EXTREMELY short... even tho most Falcom games are short.. this was still shockingly short. ITs one of the few games where the OST was also very mediocre and uninspiring.. not memorable even.. except for Ernst.. which kind of came out of nowehere and was a good reminder that Falcom could still make a sick beat. Sad that its the only thing I remember from the game T_T.
Also.. Xanadu Next.. was just wow. Shows how well Falcom can do in almost any genre.. that involves hackin and slashin =P. I can only hope they bring another one later on.. or even use the system in a new Brandish game with the Brandish style 0_0.
But besides waiting for the Zwei 1/2 translations.. what else can I try from Falcom?

Obviously most people are going to say Ys. Because Ys is obviously the best. Obviously. But besides waiting for the Zwei 1/2 translations.. what else can I try from Falcom? You should try Gurumin. The psp version is in english.

Legend of Xanadu II is the Falcom masterpiece.

Xanadu Next is my absolute favorite. I also really love Ys 2. Interesting choice in the Brandish series, I don't have too much experience with the original games but I had a blast playing Dark Revenant on psp.

I absolutely LOVE Zwei II! The graphics were gorgeous, the gameplay was fun, the characters were endearing, and it had plenty of replay value. I'm only sad I've never experienced the story in it's entirety since I cannot read Japanese. From an Ys standpoint my favorite is probably Ys Seven. The gameplay was fast and furious, the soundtrack was great, and although the story was a bit predictable, the characters were charming enough to make up for it. I would have loved to have this on PS3!

The Legend of Xanadu I & II, with LoX II being "The Last of Dragonslayer". The ending is awesome! Every Falcom fan should play these games through at least once, even though they are not in English yet.

Popful Mail~! Or.... so I would have said, had I not finally actually played Gurumin. Since then, methinks Gurumin has taken over the spot of my most favourite, with it's combination of most lovable characters (Puku~!), really amazing soundtrack, and super fun gameplay? It was like an even more fun, even more smoother playing version of Popful Mail for me. (Which.... I guess is woonky of me to say, as the gameplay for both is very different......)
Ys Seven is close behind Gurumin for me though. It really won me over due to the fact that... for once Adol was no longer travelling alone, and journeying through the lands as him no longer felt that lonely. ^ ^;~ The only reason I would mark it down one point from Gurumin is due to the.... sad undertones to the whole story. :'D I would have loved a 'perfect' super happy conclusion to.... everything. X'D

I guess Ill track down Guru and Ys 7 then. Both for PSP correct? I have to find my CD vault and dust off Brandish 4.. dont know why I havent played it yet.. but Im assuming it has to do with the absence of Ares and Dela T_T. Also.. have you guys heard of Floght-Plan.. that super awesome company that sadly went under T_T. Ive been trying to find most of their artwork ever since their website shut down.
PS - what else is very similar to Xanadu Next??
PSS - Ive become very "graphic must BE NICE".. so it will be hard to play the older xanadu games sadly T_T

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys tops the list for me. Followed by Ys Seven.
I'm also quite partial to Legend of Xanadu I & II.

I only know Ys. XD
I tried to give an opportunity to Sora no Kiseki with the anime, (like I did with Ys, I didn't knew it was a game) before buy any game, but I didn't like it a bit.
Maybe I did a stupid thing, but I didn't like the main character, neither the story.
And when any of this works to me...

Not only you have been spoilered with FC's huge plot bomb, the OVA is based on the second game in the Kiseki series and you should at least have played SC before watching it. Also, I've discovered the other best Falcom game: Brandish 2: The Planet Buster, aka the finest game ever. It also has one of the best endings in a videogame and it's so bad you can't help but burst out laughing.

They are, but the anime follows the events of the second game and focuses more on the action. You've missed an entire game of world building and an entire game worth of details. The anime casually spoils major twists and leaves many details unattended that you could only understand if you've played the games.
On-topic: Ys Origin is my favorite Ys. It has everything I love from the series cranked up to 11. Zwei II is shaping up to be my favorite Falcom game, but I'm keeping it on hold till the translation is finished. My Sora no Kiseki opinion is kept on hold until SC is fully translated. Although I can safely say I like the series.
Currently Zwei 2 is top contender for "best Falcom title" to me. It has some odd charm that just makes me smile while playing it, even if I can't understand anything of the plot. Also, Norio Wakamoto as a luchador that makes you dance? 10/10 material right here.

LOL @ Wakamoto appearing in the strangest of roles again
Also think about SnK OVA as a Fan Service or an eye-candy if you will, something to treat yourself with after playing the games.

Hm...kinda hard to decide that...it's like deciding which of your children is your favourites. Well, mine are : Ys III : The Oath in Felghana (PSP)This is just awesome! Apart from perhaps the game being a little on the mean side when it came to the extra bosses, I can't think of any other flaw it might have. Everything is memorable in there, the story, the characters, the gameplay and even the music. The artwork is exellent and the unlockable pieces are a blast to look at. Good times all around and the cherry picked best of a Falcom era in there. Ys 7 (PSP)This is more complicated, as it is the game that really cemented everything I love about Falcom and what I've been expecting for years in the Action RPG genre. While I waited for a good game with Adol and generally an evolution of the Ys combat, there comes the package of Ys 7 when it first came out with me not even remembering why I even purchased it from Play-Asia with the Special Edition to boot. Bewildered at my actions, I put it in my PSP and I was stocked from the first second. Something just told it was going to be awesome. After experiencing the combat and learning the tricks of it, I was excited and fueled with pure motivation to be great at that game, something not many titles could give me back then...due to me being oblivious. Fast paced combat, lots of skills, on the fly switching characters with different movesets, weapons, abilities and stats along with intuitive, twitch-reflexive, skill based action. I was in for a treat! Despite all the awesomeness I was quick to notice its flaws though, those being lower difficulty, not because the game is easy but because the enemies crumble at the might of the team, while Adol alone could have had a challenge, the lack of a Boss Rush mode and no New Game + with bonuses, something that Falcom can pull off with exeptional gusto. Ys vs. Sora no Kiseki Alternative Saga (PSP)When I saw the first screens I thought "Sora no Kiseki characters in a fighter? WITH Ys? MUST BUY!" When I saw that the awesome gameplay engine of Ys 7 was used for that and a jump button, along with jump mechanics added to the game, I was fuelled with motiviation to play it to the finish, again. Simply everything is awesome in there, from the story, the characters chosen, to the music files to even the references, especially the Dragon Slayer and more importantly, the Dragon SLayer II : Xanadu / Xanadu Next ones. It just makes one smile. Xanadu Next (PC)This is the oddest title Falcom has released, IMO. While they have done some dark stuff over the ages, nothing seemed so serious, morose and downright old-school-epic. When I heard it was a remake of the Dragon Slayer II game, I thought I'd give it a try. While not a fast game or one that requires mastery of stylish combat tricks, the methodical and smooth combat nature of the game made me dwelve into its dungeon filled world and had me hooked. I can only wish we will see a Sorcerian remake like Xanadu Next. Nayuta no Kiseki (PSP)This one got me hooked on its concept for one reason : this is honestly how I always imagined a Mega Man Zero game or at better yet, a Mega Man ZX with the Zero learning system, would play if it transition into 3D. While the game has way too many storytelling flaws for a Falcom title and a bit of poor job done for the Status growth, along with really bad 2 Handed weapons designs, it really was a fun ride and the use of acievements in-game was pure genius to keep it going further, unlocking many more feature and making the player feels awesome. I just wish that we could get another game like that, but not with Nayuta necessarilly...preferably the Zwei twins, or just new characters altogether...or just Signa. As for those I "own" : Dragon Slayer (PC) Dragon Slayer II : Xanadu (PC) Dragon Slayer V : Sorcerian (PC) Dragon Slayer VI : The Legend of Heroes (PC) I have years to play them...mostly because I just want them remade, Falcom style. And because I have them kept burned in DVDs waiting to "install" them again, If I feel like it.

I'm going to say Sorcerian. Ys I is fantastic no doubt, but Sorcerian? They took the concept of dungeon crawling and made it side-scrolling instead of first person, gave it an EXTREMELY CHARMING opening that makes me feel like I'm 5 years old being told a story or something like that, and stunningly good music. It's by far my favorite of Falcom titles. A long time ago, so long ago that memories did not exist.
Love was not wide srpead among the people and it was magic or might that ruled the lands.
There were men that set out on precarious adventures in order to test their strength and courage. People called these men ....
