I have version 1.1.0.0, but apparently there are some graphical glitches, text issues with the translation patch and no widescreen. Anyway, I got the Steam version, but my 1.1.0.0 savegames don't seem to appear when I copy them into the proper folder. Even though they are in the correct folder nothing appears when in the Load Game menu.
Is there a way to transfer them? Or is there a 1.1.1.0 patch for the box version, which is compatible with the English translation patch?

What "proper folder'' did you copy them to? What version of windows do you have? I ask because some versions of windows override where the game wants to place saves and puts them where it wants. The saves should be compatible though, unless some recent steam update broke compatibility. I copied mine over to the steam release when I first bought it though I don't remember of the top of my head where I moved them to or if I had to move them at all.
As for patches for the boxed version there was a 1.1.0.3 patch and there was a version 1.1.1.0 boxed version of the game but no patch to bring older version up to that. The only way to get 1.1.1.0 was to buy the boxed vista version or maybe it was the win 7 version. The 1.1.1.0 version was just a compatibility fix for windows though it didn't add anything else except for a cd key check IIRC.
If you want widescreen with the boxed version there is a patch here in the forums. It's not as good as xseed's true widescreen as hud elements are still stretched but the world and characters on screen are all proper widescreen.

C:\MyPrograms\Games\Steam\userdata\16923895\207350\remote
That was the folder that they're in. If I delete those files then there's nothing in the Steam versions load game screen.
This is the boxed location: C:\Users\madmax\Saved Games\FALCOM\yso_win
I searched for yso_win.ini and those were the only two locations.

This is going to be a guess since you didn't tell me what version of windows you are running.
I think this is a case of windows overriding the save folder. Place your saves from the boxed version in C:\Users\yournamehere\Saved Games\FALCOM\yso_win
I just put an old save from the boxed version in this folder and it showed up in the steam version no problem. I have win 8 but I belive it was the same folder in win 7. Older versions of windows would have probably used the steam folder.

Oh... sorry... I'm using Win7.
I have both versions installed. So, I haven't removed the saves from the boxed version location.
I don't know...it's a mystery. If there isn't any difference between 1110 and 1100 saves then I'm lost to the cause. I'll try uninstalling the boxed version, maybe there's some registry conflict or something...but I'm not too hopeful on this idea.
edit: Nope, didn't work.

Oh I see now... I was looking in "appdata" and not "saved games" folder. The boxed version put it in appdata and windows search only found the ones in the Steam folder. Windows search sucks. It really does. This would not have been an issue if Windows search was actually able to find files. This isn't the only time it's happened either when I know a file is somewhere, but it doesn't come up in search.
Thanks for your help.
edit: Now it's not finding the one in appdata. MS really forked the search in Win7.
