Ys VIII
Direct feed version of the trailer they've shown before, with some differences. This time around it's slightly longer and it can be viewed in HD. Doesn't reveal much.

Ooooh, new game!! I am so ready in thinking we're heading over to somewhere based on the Greek Islands in the Sea of Crete (Zoom Zoom~). Crete and Santorini are places speculated to be connected to Plato's Atlantis story. Santorini was the site of one of the largest recorded volcanic eruptions in history and may have led to the downfall of the Minoan civilization as well as inspired said story. Of course, I may be totally off the mark, but it's so much fun to guess. My Vita is ready and waiting, falcom! So excited!

Nope, you are correct. The myth is of Atlantis is tied with Santorini's sunken part. Plato as well as other greek philosopher's used these kinds of old stories and events to spin a mythological story around them in order to tell an engaging and thought provoking story or just a fun hero tale. In Atlantis' case, it's the tale of humanity's hubris in getting way to ahead of themselves and thus the world collapsed on them, a story which would later be interpeted as the Tower of Babel.

I think it's based more on the Deluge, then the Tower of Babel. However, of the multitudes of peoples that have the basic worldwide flood story, I don't recall any(not that I've studied them all) that seem to have anything about man going too far with technology(ala Frankenstein) weaved into it, so perhaps you're right. Though, The Tower of Babel was built after the Flood, & in some cultures, it was said to have been built in an attempt to survive another world wide flood(even though scripturally there was the promise that there would never be another flood). Maybe Atlantis is based on both the Deluge & the Tower of Babel? We can only guess, since I'm sure we've only scratched the surface(see what I did there ) in archeology. Not to mention trying to understand dead languages. I'm sure more relics of these stories will be found with time so they can be better understood. Hell, with everything going on over in the Middle East, maybe the US will end up dropping bombs, & in turn, end up revealing more ancient artifacts that we never knew existed. Only time will tell, but, wow, I got off subject!

Nope, the Flood of Noah is akin the Flood of Zeus and Athena, which is the "Flood Story" of ancient Greece. After seeing how effed up one village was down in Greece, they tried to find a couple that was pure so that they can create a new village after that one was flooded. The myth was suppossedly based on an actual breaking of a dam which caused the flood and only the mountai couples survived that tragedy. As for dropping bombs and relics...that's some really sweet thinking, reality isn't as kind like that unfortunately. More likely than not, with every bomb dropped, a piece of Middle Easter history is forever lost. All these things being said, wonder what the mythology of the new Ys area will be...

Well I'm glad they went for a new battle system even if it has party members. After finishing Ys Celceta, I can say I'm over the current "party system". I had a lot of fun with it in Ys SEVEN but enjoyed it a lot less while playing Celceta. Just from the current trailer it's looking to be quite a bit different, if you take your eyes off the two other members.

I didn't mind how the party system was handled in Celceta. I really only want to play as Adol and I didn't feel forced to switch characters to do more damage on certain enemies.

Yeah, absolutely none.
I imagine after Tokyo Xanadu, Ys will be their next focus.
