I just saw the awesome work with Nayuta no Kiseki, and wow! I mean, i'm very glad to see people working hard to bring games that most of us couldn't enjoy by either way, and for no money! for all that, thanks, i 'm gonna get the game as soon as i get some money!
Seeing this, and the translation projects for Zwei, Zwei II and Dinosaur Resurrection, i was wondering if were possible to translate/localize the Sorcerian Series. In particular, Sorcerian Forever and (or) Sorcerian Original, since these are the newer versions of this classic series (as far as i know).
I haven't seen any fan-translation projects start up for Sorcerian, but I'd love to help out with a project for Sorcerian Forever. Heck, it's one of the main reasons I bought it as well as the American release from Sierra since I wanted to play it all in English one day. Picture
I'd also be up for anyone that would like to take a shot at fan-translating Romanica ~ Another Legend ~ which was developed by Unbalance and not by Falcom. It's a pretty nice Windows 95 remake and the definitive port (at least graphically, maybe not gameplay-wise) of Romancia which also contains the original game as well. Though, I do not know if Princess Mode existed in this version or not. It did in the MSX version, but not in the Famicom version (both of which have been fan-translated). Picture That version came with a nice hardbound artbook too with some very nice art inside. I took pictures of it awhile back in case anyone is interested.
I must be out of the loop, but you said there was already a fan-translation in the works for Dinosaur Resurrection? That would be awesome!

In my opinion, i would preffer a Sorcerian Original translation as seems to be more visually attractive to me (it has a better charcater design, and a smoother scrolling). But Forever would be okay as well.
I've played a bit the DOS version, but honestly, i couldn't deal with it. Too much archaic for me, i guess. BTW, i did not know about that Romancia Remake. Falcom has a lot of treasures to discover...
Has XSEED said anything about these old games? i'm afraid they are not much interested in them, althrough they were released in digital version.
Would be great if a group decided to take care of translating any of these titles.
The compression problem is partly solved too. I don't know how to proceed beyond the compression problem, so I'm hoping this guy does. Maybe we can disable compression for some or all of the game files.
I gave the guy this compression tool and he says he'll take a look at it.

Don't know about playing Sorcerian Original but, I did play and beat Sorcerian Forever using the partial patch and Google translate on my iphone. There isn't much text in the game. The characters only say a few lines. So with the google translate app, just take a picture of the JAP text on screen and translate! Now it's not the best way but I was able to figure out what was going on with the story and quests. It will give you the basics about what is going on.
