The old thread contained too much misinformation and other stuff, so I decided to make a new, fresh thread. Discuss away!
Old (locked) thread.

1. It is a sequel to Castlevania Bloodlines (Genesis) and stars John Morris (son of CV Bloodlines' John Morris Sr.) and a mage named Charlotte.
2. The Morris family is tied to the Belmonts. Charlotte is somehow related to the Fernandez/Belnades (magician) families.
3. You will play as BOTH simultaneously, though apparently, only one character is active at once. You can switch on the fly, from one to the other.
4. Morris will wield a variety of weapons, including whips, swords, spears, axes, etc. He will eventually be able to wield the Vampire Killer. The Belmonts can wield the Vampire Killer innately. Not so the Morris line, who must accomplish a certain task (or sequence of tasks) before they earn the honor.
5. Charlotte will be a spell-caster. The more powerful the spell, the longer it takes to cast. In those instances, you must initiate the spell as Charlotte, then switch to Morris and protect her, while she incants her spell.
6. Apparently, combination attacks will involve Morris and Charlotte simultaneously.
7. Aria/Dawn of Souls soul-collecting is out. However, you will be able to earn new abilities (lots of them!) by gathering various materials. Most of these materials will be enemy drops. (So harvesting souls is out, but farming enemies is still very much in). Article implies that most of Charlotte's spells are thus earned, and many of the "special" abilities, such as the double jump, as well.
8. Bloodlines took place during World War 1. Portrait of Ruin will take place during World War 2.
9. Most of the game WILL take place in a castle.
10. IGA's Castlevania team has been greatly expanded, including members from the old Circle of the Moon team being brought back into the Castlevania fold for the first time since CotM.
11. Features an enhanced version of the Dawn of Sorrow engine.
12. Game will be significantly longer/larger than Dawn of Sorrow. Why the short turn-around, then? Pre-existing game engine + expanded development team.
13. 2-player co-op mode is pretty much confirmed. Online or offline? We don't yet know.
14. MICHIRU YAMANE IS DOING THE SOUNDTRACK. Previously, she only contributed one or two songs to Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, and Dawn of Sorrow. But this one's all hers, apparently.
