That it's coming this year! Yes! That it will be for the PS4 and Vita... ok. That it will have a new party system.
Anything else? Any chance of it coming to Steam?

I think they listed it being compatible with Vita TV as well, so that's kind of a like a third platform. Doubt there is a PC release scheduled yet, but if they ended up doing one at some point and it's released by Falcom in Japan, perhaps it could be localized one day. Ys Seven and Ys Celceta were also released on PC, but so far not in Japan by Falcom directly. They've been released by a Chinese company called Joyoland and I'm not sure if that stands getting an official localization, but perhaps these may one day see fan made English translation patches.
As for Ys VIII, I don't think much is known about it plot-wise. Too soon perhaps and Falcom loves to tease information.

It's been a while since I've visited this forum. Anyway really hyped for the upcoming game. Here's a screenshot of some info from the latest falcom magazine. It's in Jap though and it's pretty much what the earlier post talked about except more synopsis.

Ys VIII happens before Ys VI, with a 21 years old Adol. I can imagine another Ys game before VI with a 22 years old Adol. In the second line from the third paragraph it names the travelogue of this new Ys. Any translation of what it is? Something about the sea of Goethe... or whatever it is called?

Ys VIII happens before Ys VI, with a 21 years old Adol. I can imagine another Ys game before VI with a 22 years old Adol. In the second line from the third paragraph it names the travelogue of this new Ys. Any translation of what it is? Something about the sea of Goethe... or whatever it is called? Well it says that Adol is travelling on a ship called "The Ronbaldia" from Sandoria Xandria to the Continent of Eresia. Edit: Alright so it's confirmed after Ys V since Adol is travelling from Xandria. And in good old Ys fashion, the ship gets attacked by a giant sea monster and gets capsized. As usual Adol awakens on the shores of an island, which turns out to be Seiren the "eternally cursed island". With ancient creatures untouched by the outside world and ruins of an ancient civilisation. So Adol and the rest of the capsized passengers set up a "drifters village" (he goes around saving some of them first), for protection against the island's ancient creatures. In the meantime Adols dreams of a mysterious blue haired girl and the unknown place she lives in. So that's the gist of the story this time round. Though a little disappointed it's not after Ys seven's timeline. I hope the next Ys game after Ys 8 is a remake of Ys 5 since that's the last one yet to be remade.

It's the blue haired girl... something tells me her story line is in the past and Adol is dreaming of her adventures...
It's still early to tell though, I would prefer that she is a team member with Adol and company.

gematsu.com/2016/02/Ys-viii-introduces-raksha-sahadRaksha 19 years old. She uses a rapier in battle. She is the daughter of the noble Roswell family of Garman, and as a noble conducts herself politely. While confused by the lifestyle of the Drifting Village, she works with Adol and company using her profound knowledge of ancient ruins, and plants and animals. In battle she is fast and has good reach, but since she can’t target many enemies at once, she finds herself in trouble when surrounded. Staff Comment: The Garman area is located in the northeastern part of the Romun Empire, and many of its people are made of fortitude and vigor. This is the first time Raksha is meeting Adol and company. By taking advantage of her reach, you can follow up a preemptive attack with consecutive attacks. Sahad 41 years old. He uses an anchor in battle. He is a fisherman from the Greek area and has a lovable personality. He works with Adol in order to return to his hometown where his family is waiting. He has high attack power and can attack many enemies at once, but has open spots. Staff Comment: When it comes to playable characters in the Ys series, he is the oldest. He was a passenger on the same boat as Adol. Adol (Adol has already been detailed.) Staff comment: He’s the balanced character in battle. System Attacks have three attributes: “Slash,” “Shoot,” and “Strike.” When you attack your enemy’s weak point, they’ll “Break” and all attributes will damage it. Staff Comment: The Break system has an exhilarating feeling about it. We’re planning parts of the game that use the PS Vita touch screen. There is a possibility that Adol and friends will be wiped out by an Ancient attack. Ancients are completely different creatures from dragons and have no connection to the Five Dragons of Altago. Also, the jump action and switching between characters may seem similar to Tokyo Xanadu, but in this game, all of your party members appear on screen.

It makes sense to have a new adventure take place between V and VI as, judging by Terra's appearance in both games, a few years passed between them.

So this will finally explain how Terra ended up in VI?
They need to remake V and release it on Steam.

Yup it's the Japanese release. Which port did you order? PS4 or Vita? I'm curious as to who has what here. I don't have either so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Steam release.

I pre-ordered the Vita version. I don't own a PS4... yet. I also own the vita TV which this game works on as well, too bad the vita TV is almost a dinosaur now.. so definitely looking at a PS4 in the near future.
