I just randomly saw this article this morning, and got so 'O____O~'-d at the sight of Dogi that I had to pop up over here and see if you all had seen this too. (And was curious about the reactions! What be that goatee?!) gematsu.com/2016/04/Ys-viii-details-little-paro-drifting-villageI hope I'm not spamming something that you all have already poked at? I didn't see much talk about it in the chat box, sooooo~~~~

It's the artstyle probably Truner...that...or the fact that Adol's eyes are slowly becoming brown instead of grey. Not a fan of the new outfits, but Dogi beard is ok. The gameplay is...I guess...ok? I understand the need for the team based combat in 4 and it being a new thing in 7 but I doubt 8 really needed it, unless the team was only Adol and Dogi. Will wait and see about that.

Oh hey, an actual trailer for the new Ys : youtu.be/93BjWhCdBZcMan, this is probably the one game I will regret not buying a VITA for. It looks amazingly awesome.

Hmm, not sure if they eliminated the slow framerates shown in the earlier play demo... hope they do optimize it somehow.
Anyway I will be plugging this into my Vita TV and playing it on my 55" TV mwahahah. Pixelation or not, I will play this on a giant screen.

Okay, the Vita Ys VIII LE is looking great. I've completely lost track of time and forgot this was coming out already. Is it Vita only or is there also a PS3 or 4 edition? Meh, even if it is Vita only, the eventual XSEED release better work with the PS TV. That was the best $40 Memories of Celceta TV adapter that I ever bought.

There will be a hopefully better PS4 version coming out about a year from now.
It is 40 hours, about 30% longer than Celceta.
You can move the camera this time. You can see whatever scenery you want. Controllable cameras are fraught with peril, but I think this one is OK. You're going to run into problems when surrounded by enemies (they will attack you from the back where you can't see), but that's only realistic, right? There are some camera zooms during combat which weren't there before, so that's a nice touch.
Oh yeah, and you can jump. I don't know that it affects the gameplay all that much, I'd just as soon not jump. The jumping mechanics are not well thought out, like they are in Felghana & Origin... your character doesn't have good "jumping" combat moves like Adol does in those other games, so it feels kind of flat. It ends up being "some basic platforming" and I go to Mario games when I want that.
That aside, the "ground combat," aka the combat, is even better than it was in Celceta. Each character has a fighting style quite different from each of the others.
It's the best Ys plot yet. Lots of stuff happens. Yeah. Characterization is fine. All the characters are one-dimensional, but it's par for the course for Ys. There's no character development. It has never been a strong point of Ys.

So, all I´ve seen so far (not as much, if I may be honest) are videos in Japanese. Is the game officaly confirmed world wide? Is there a official date of release? Best regards!
