I just finished watching the press conference. It is very impressive. The controller looks great and no, it's not the banana boomerang... It looks similar to the ps2 but it has motion sensors. Tilting the controller will cause the on screen to react. It looks MORE impressive then the Revolution controller.
One thing that was interesting was the PS3 + PSP combo. It works almost similar to the GC and GBA combo. They showed a driving game and hooked the PSP up and used it almost like a rare mirror. They also showed the usual FF XIII title, MGS4 and EA Sports titles.
It's going to be a worldwide release... and there are 2 versions (i think they're copying xbox 360 there) PS3 + 20gig HDD and PS3 + 60gig HDD It will be released in Japan Nov 11, North American and Europe Nov 17.
The price tag, as expected, will be high... It will be ¥59, 800 for the 20gig and open price for the 60gig. In North America, the 20gig will be $499USD/$549CAD and the 60gig will be $549USD/$659CAD. In Europe it will be 499 for 20gig and 599 for 60gig.
I am very excited about the controller...

I am less excited about the controller. This is because I have arthritus (yes, I am 24 and with arthritus. Shut up ;_;), and often have to adjust my hands, and sometimes can't hold things straight.
Anyways. 500 bones?! Christy McAllah! That's bloody insane. No, that's not even insane, that's just inane! Holy hells, I cannot process that properly at the moment. That's like the cost of a cheap PC!

That's what my friend said... I'm not crazy enough to buy the PS3 on its initial release... I can wait until the price come down.
You should actually go find some footage of the controller. It's the same layout as the PS2 and it's lighter and I like the sensor addition...

Guess I won't be getting it for a few years And I know they'll be doing Suikoden 6 for it, & at the rate they've been doing Suikoden games lately, it might not be too far off. And I dig MGS games, so I'll pick up 4, when they come out with MGS 4 Subsistersistence Gotta pick up MGS 3 Subsistence as well. FF13, might be good, I have no interest in 12, partially cuz of the character designs, & frankly the game doesn't look interesting. But 13 looks better, better char desings anyways. Who knows, maybe we'll also get a new Ys or Lunar on it....but I'll still wait for a price drop, just like I always do with all my systems. Oh yeah, & I HOPE there will be a new Jak series for it as well, I don't want that series to end......until, the end that is, without getting too specific for anyone who doesn't know the full story.

I still like Sony more than both the other systems, and will probably pick this up more towards its initial release than a price drop. I love many games on the PS2 and could find very few that I would get excited about on either of the other systems.
Nintendo really only has it's major 3 (Zelda, Mario, & Metroid) and Microsoft usually has games that I can get on the PC or PS2 anyways and that'll probably continue to be the case. Most of the RPG's that I enjoy are on the PS2 and that also will probably continue.
I don't really like the idea of the controller having motion sensors as I dislike gimmicky stuff usually when it comes to controls. I don't like the stylus on the DS and I don't like the idea of waving my controller around on the Wii or the PS3.
I've had my PS2 since not long after it's release and have had very few problems with it, so I have faith in Sony and the third parties that are sure to flock to their system.
Peace Out Jest

Need to say more? Edit: Yes. Here's a couple of random comments from Evil Avatar forums about the PS3 logo: "Seriously though, Sony had better screwing change that font or I'll be putting tape over the damn name."
"Spider-Man 3 on Blu-Ray disc to be bundled with first 2M of PS3s. You heard it here first "Yeah but you forgot to tell everybody about how nintendo puts out every stupid pereferal for its consoles and then makes you buy them...abandons the softwear and then laughs at you. The ps3 is going to be king once again. Ill tell you why...its not the hardwear that makes the gamer go "oooohhhh i want that" its the softwear...and sony has all the 3rd party support. I mean yes, nintendo can make games...but 10 good games per console run is not good enough to spout that "nintendo" is the way to go. Also microsoft would be crap if it didnt have madden or lucasarts games on its console. Im not a fanboy..im a damn realist...i own every console nintendo has ever put out, so dont think im biased ether!! (i really hope this sparks interesting conversation hahah)

Final Fantasy Thirteen. Looks like a very nice game. With the news of Yoshitaka Amano returning to work on it, it will have to be good. FF IX was incredible.

Is that so? It says on IGN/Gamespot that someone else will work on it. I don't remember/care who it was though.

Here is one of the places I read about it. Amano's involement seems like it could be limited again, but that won't stop me from hoping he will do the character design work.

Oh, okay then. Then Amano's not doing the character designs in FFXIII. They've already got another character designer. They mentioned it on E3 yesterday.
By the way, I hate Sony for a new reason: the PS3 will cost $599USD in North America and €599 in Europe. €599 is a lot more!! Damn Sony, changing the currency but keeping the number, that's typical Microsoft behaviour!
