I can't believe I just typed that.... "Wii"
I am very impressed with the console... I think the most impressive part is the actual total body movement to play a game. They had a tennis matching going and that is certainly really interesting to me as well as some of the chop 'em up, slash 'em game.
I might be interested in getting the new Zelda game for Wii even though I dont play the Zelda series that often but being about to control the sword and stuff sounds cool to me.
Oh yea, it's now Nintendo DS Lite... "lighter and brighter"

I'm still slightly skeptical. But, reading how Metroid 3 will play, actually doesn't sound that bad. But I still want me some 2D Metroid dammit! I'll seriously have to play some games for it, to really make a desicsion.

I might wait for more titles on nintendo before buying it. I found games on the GC were really a lot of party or kids game. There aren't enough platformer. I really enjoyed Ratchet and Clank series on PS2. I'm hoping maybe Wii will have something similar.
But after watching the press conference... I wanna try it out...

MP83 has summed up my ideals. It's going to be interesting to have to relearn a controller, just like my old NES days when I as 8 =D

Why is everybody so excited about Super Smash Bros.? I don't see anything good about those games. And what's the deal with Snake? Why stream when you can download? I hate Youtube.

I know, that game has one of the best NES music scores too. I'm hoping his appearance in this new game is a sign of things to come.

I don't think it got much press. It appeared in Nintendo Power, and maybe a couple other magazines, but yeah, never really caught on.
I daresay that it's because Kid Icarus is fiendishly hard.

I wonder if Solid Snake will play like he did in Dream Mix TV World Fighters. He was one of the lousiest characters in that game. The only decent move he could do was plant c4 on the opponent or maybe I just sucked as playing him. Anyhow, the fighting system of it, while similar to Super Smash Bros wasn't all that great to begin with. I am very excited about the Nintendo Wii though and I can't wait for Metroid Prime 3 and Zelda, even the conductor game looks sweet, even though I'm sure I'll be terrible at it. lol And I just found out the other day while reading Nintendo Power that they had made a sequel to Kid Icarus. Apparently it was a real sequel and the final boss was something other than Medusa. -SkyeWelse

I haven't been much of a fan of Nintendo for a while now (I'm immune to that brand loyalty thing, or so I like to think) but I think they've fairly well sealed the fate of competition in Japan with Dragon Quest being released on the Wii.

IMO, Wii totally killed the competition. I kinda doubted it, but wow... shame on me. Super Mario Galaxy videos blew me away and the nintendo fan in me couldnt stop drooling over the SSBB video. They're pleasing everyone with Red Steel, HAMMER, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda, Sadness, and Disaster: Day of Crisis for the hardcore/mature gamers, and everything else for the people just looking for a great time with their friends and family, like Monkey Ball, Wario Ware, and Super Mario Galaxy. I can finaly play star fox with my dad again and not see him cringe at the sight of so many buttons. Unless you're closed minded, or a huge fanboy/fangirl of something thats exclusive to PS3/360 *coughMGScoughFFcoughHALOcough* there should be no ifs or buts when i say nintendo has won this. and hudson announced 100 PCE games to be available at launch for Virtual Console... Ys here I come ...again! btw, that classic controller is for the Virtual Console games and possibly SSBB only. Either way, SSBB is not playable with the Wiimote. You really have to try the thing to understand it though, this is a case where seeing is not beleiving, playing is beleiving. and the controller for the PS3 was just sad. You should have seen the pre-e3 conference video. Sony fans everywhere got pissed off with Kutaragi. The way he acted and what he said about the history of their controller since PS1 just shocked me. Its hard to beleive that he doesnt have his facts streight, that too about his own console. The worst thing about the controller (more than their lack of creativity, reverting back to their old controller and all) is that they TOOK THE RUMBLE OUT. you tell me whats more important for a console like PS3: the rumble or crappy tilt? Then they covered up the truth (that the refuse to pay for the patent) by saying it interferes with the tilt. the tilt functionality of the PS3 controller only works (barely) with one game, Warhawk. also, thats all it is.. a 6-way tilt, its not a motion sensor like in the Wii. you can get more out of a PC Joystick. It was just thrown in last minute as a jab towards Nintendo... which is an area that another publisher just should not attempt to tread. I was waiting for a cool Tekken 6 showing, but instead got a short cinematic with in-game graphics (that look like Tekken 5). I did like Heavenly Sword's demonstration, but other than that, the games were same-old with little little actual gameplay shown. it was like the killzone trailer, prerendered stuff with a HUD thrown on... theres proof that sony loves to do that. the first half put me to sleep, but then the MGS4 trailer was shown and that was cool... i tried hard to find real gameplay in it and failed, guess I have to play MGS3 to care for it. I was actually very interested in PS3 till i saw their sly/evil ways and the price (but its mostly cuz of the price, im one canadian not ready to spend nearly $1000 at the launch of a console). I'll wait untill I see more that I like for the PS3, and if the price goes down (maybe a year or 2 after launch... if ever, from what I hear ) it'll be too hard to find a console at stores before the year is out anyways. Nintendo has, in my opinion, triumphantly returned from the ashes of the GC. btw, theyve pretty much confirmed that theyre making a new Kid Icarus.

I think it's kinda premature to hate the wiimote until you've spent some time with it, myself. Not much point in judging what you haven't tried out when there isn't much of an analogous thing to compare it to.

yes, deffinately. like i said (or more like, what nintendo said ) "Playing is beleiving" how is the new controll a gimmick, really? this E3 was all about proving whither it was just a gimmick or an innovation and every time it proved to be the latter. Many, if not all of the games on the console so far that use the Wii controller would not be the same or as fun if the controller wasnt used. BTW, waving is an option and many games on the Wii are actually two-handed affairs. playing is beleiving, but to tell you the truth, the videos of people actually playing it and their hands-on impressions are whats really getting me already. I suggest you atleast watch a few videos of people actually using it. it may seem they move their arms a lot, but thats due to high sensitivity and their distance from the screens... this will all be ajustable when the console is out and you really wont have to move so much (i actually beleive the reason they move so much is due to how much their getting into it) for instance, the IGN impression I read for Super Monkey Ball (or was it Zelda?) says that once you get used to the new controll scheme its hard to go back to the old controller. It just works out so well and it's so fun and easy to get used to. and if theres any proof that it's possible for the Wii to work perfectly for any game built for it, it's in this impression: revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707953p1.htmlits just a demo but it sounds so good that I actually wish it were coming out. and i'd just like to point out again, especially for wyrdwad (cuz it sounds like you like SSB but not the Wii controller) that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will only (or mostly) be playable with the GAMECUBE controller and (possibly) the Wii classic controller. They did this cuz they are using the game solely to show off the WiFi capabilities (in a poll done by nintendo, they found SSB was the game series that everyone around the world wanted Nintendo to make into a wifi title the most) and because they wanted previous SSB players to be used to the controlls right away for intense, deep battling. I also beleive that this is proof that any game is possible on the Wii, like nintendo said, by using the Wii's classic controller. It's the developer's choice on which controller to use. for games like this, maybe the Wii controller could still be used for things like menus or smaller extra things. btw, Metal Slug Anthology is coming out for the Wii. So far, the Wii is the only next gen console with a new classic 2D title coming out for it. I dont think Sony, or maybe even MS, would be as willing to put a title like that on their console. Also, I beleive Metal Slug Anthology will allow for use of both the Wii controller and classic controller, optionally... its a very possible idea. Hudson (i think) is also making a flight game for the Wii that sounds a lot like the future of arcade-style verticle shooters. one new IP thats getting my attention is a new game from nintendo called Disaster: Day of Crises. You can read about it here: wii.nintendo.com/software.html its a very different game that you may like, wyrdwad. Another two are Elebits, which sounds like chibirobo to me, and then there's Sadness: nibris.net read the sadness preview... theres no way a game like that would work with a traditional controller. anyways, there will always be a few who arent looking for a change (actually, your the first one i know, wyrdwad, but im sure ill find more) so it's understandable if you just plain arent interested. but thats not to say that Wii wont be good or anything or that it doesnt have the potential to beat the competiton.

I'd just like to comment on the Game Boy Kid Icarus (and Kid Icarus in general). The Game Boy game is horrible. It DID get quite a lot of attention though (at least in Europe), but as I said .. it isn't a good game. Also, Nintendo said they'd make a SNES game, but that never happened. Oh and Pit was SUPPOSED to be part of the original SSB but shortly before it was released, he had been replaced with Jigglypuff. Oh and by the way -- wasn't Kid Icarus originally developed by Konami? I guess not, but it FEELS like a Konami game to me! (Kid Icarus got released on the Famicom Disk System as "Partena's Mirror" in Japan. It never saw a Famicom release.)

I never liked the original Kid Icarus. I always felt it was just a weak version of Metroid with a few tweeks and (sort of) more difficulty. If they do make another one for the Wii (which is looking extreamly likely now), I expect a total revamp of the gameplay.
