Yeah, I always wondered why he wasn't in it from the start. And actually, come to think of it... why has Nintendo NEVER released another Kid Icarus game? The original was a pretty big hit -- I mean, it's one of the NES's classics. And Nintendo's cashed in on every OTHER franchise... I wonder why they haven't done the same with Kid Icarus? Not even one single sequel! -Tom I agree. Awesome game. So sad.

I never liked the original Kid Icarus. I always felt it was just a weak version of Metroid with a few tweeks and (sort of) more difficulty. Why is that? The game has nothing in common with Metroid. Kid Icarus is just a regular (well, maybe not REGULAR) platformer.

The Wii controller will be awesome for certain games, and horrid for others. That's the bottom line. Playing a Diablo-style game with is a joke (See : HAMMER) but games like the new Zelda are more suited towards it. Or a Tomb Raider-ish game.

I might wait for more titles on nintendo before buying it. I found games on the GC were really a lot of party or kids game. There aren't enough platformer. I really enjoyed Ratchet and Clank series on PS2. I'm hoping maybe Wii will have something similar. But after watching the press conference... I wanna try it out... OMG double-nature! Let me quote in super-enchaned zoom-in vision! I found games on the GC were really a lot of party or kids game. Lookie: I really enjoyed Ratchet and Clank series on PS2. Hopefully I made it clear enough... I never liked the original Kid Icarus. I always felt it was just a weak version of Metroid with a few tweeks and (sort of) more difficulty. Why is that? The game has nothing in common with Metroid. Kid Icarus is just a regular (well, maybe not REGULAR) platformer. Well actually, there were couple of Metroid Enemies in Kid Icarus towards the last levels. The booklet suggested that " They might come from another planet"

*Laughs at this whole exchange* I can sympathize with wyrd a bit. I personally refuse to even look at Cave Story until I can play it with a controller. I can't use a keyboard on a sidescroller
I'm willing to give the Wiimote a chance, though, before I say that I don't want to use it.

I wouldn't call Ratchet & Clank a kids' game. Just because its main characters are anthropomorphs DOESN'T mean it's geared toward little kids. Ratchet and Clank is NOT a kids game... my cousins tried it... they were 10 or so... and they had problems with trying to achieve goals. I quite enjoy that series... blowing things up... lol But the characters to attract the younger crowds. I, personally, am very, very interested in trying out the wiimote on some of the games. My problem with nintendo here is how long would this novelty last? Is it "wow... something different I have to try out" or will be there be enough games to take advantage of the unique controls? Because I've seen some sword swinging arcade games and this is what nintendo has done. Taking the sword swinging arcade and putting it on console... that, I think is genius!

Well, I know that I believe that swinging a freaking controller around to slash a sword or move is going to get really old, really fast. I also don't really have a whole lotta room in my home to stand around swinging the controller, and I hate standing to play games anyways. I'm fairly certain they'll have the option to play without that feature.
I'm still only really interested in the bigger hits for the Wii, but then that's all I'm ever really interested in with the Nintendos. Metroid, Mario, and Zelda are the only games that I really care about. I don't have a lot of friends who are into playing the party games, and that's pretty much the only other thing the Nintendo system's have going for them (I do not refer to the portables).
I know that Nintendo's intent is to revolutionize the industry, but I don't that a little gimmicks here and there are going to do the trick.

Well, I know that I believe that swinging a freaking controller around to slash a sword or move is going to get really old, really fast. I don't think so. Before the DS was launched, everyone said the same thing about it. And what happened? It was a HUGE success. I'm sure this will be the case with the Wii as well.

Alright I understand that the DS is a huge success, but not because of the stylus or the dual screens, which are both actually pretty pointless over all.
It's because of the games.
The games that most people love so dearly aren't innovative uses of the system. Most games use the other screen as a way of not having subscreens, which is not innovation but convenience. Heck, most games that people seem to love don't use the stylus or other screen at all. And yes, I have played it, though I don't own one.
But, I am also a pessimist by nature, unfortunately. And this whole controller motion sensor is gonna need some powerful support to back it up, which it doesn't seem to have yet.
I'm definitely going to purchase that machine for the back log that can be accessed with it. I do think that that is an awesome addition and that the big N will profit quite nicely with that.
I also believe that the newer games, while they might be innovative (so to speak), will not be nex gen. The Wii is only slightly more powerful than the GC and a lot of people will be turned off by the mere idea that they'd be purchasing a weaker system.
Anyways, I'm rambling now...so...yeah.

The new Zelda will see a Gamecube release, so fear not. Edit: Damn you, MP83. Not sure if this was answered already but I believe it states on the Japanese Wii sites that Zelda will be relased on dual platform -GC version and -Wii version on the day of Wii's release. So people can either buy the gamecube version of Zelda or save their money and buy the Wii and the Wii version of Zelda the day of release. Not sure what I would do in this case, I probably need to see just how awesome or different the gameplay is with the Wii controller versus the GC controls. *Laughs at this whole exchange* I can sympathize with wyrd a bit. I personally refuse to even look at Cave Story until I can play it with a controller. I can't use a keyboard on a sidescroller I'm willing to give the Wiimote a chance, though, before I say that I don't want to use it. Wow, I'm not sure how the subject of Cave Story came about. I honestly looked for the original post that brought this up, but I wanted to clarify that Cave Story can easily be played using a PC gamepad. The setup is easy and I don't think I know of anyone that has finished the game using a keyboard, the controls (especially near the end of the game) and gameplay are a bit intense and you need a fair bit of manual dexterity to finish it completely. It is an extremely great game though and worthy of your time if you enjoy games like Metroid/Blaster Master/Gunstar Heroes. There is a reason why I dedicated an entire website to it afterall. -SkyeWelse

You know, I wonder how many people said the same thing about the noble D-pad, after the era of joysticks?

The Wii is only slightly more powerful than the GC and a lot of people will be turned off by the mere idea that they'd be purchasing a weaker system. Actually, I don't think you're too far off with it. Most people want to buy "the best and the most powerful and the latest" thing out there... If Wii's internal system is weaker then 360 and PS3... a lot of people will gear towards 360 and/or ps3 instead of wii. I think only time will tell... the potential is there because with that remote, there are endless possibilities but will people take advantage of it? PS3 decided to steal nintedo's idea but they were smart enough to keep the actual controller looking like a controller instead of a remote. I think it would be interesting to see a game for all platform and all have different play style... meaning while you may be good on one platform, you might need to relearn everything on a different platform...

The Wii will throw 360 & PS3 out of the market the same way as Gamecube did. Wii it is, Wii the gamers will get Wii.. Heeheeh

Wii, and to a greater extent Nintendo, really proved themselves at this E3. After last year's abysmal showing, Wii and DS simply rocked hard this year. I'm more excited than ever.

I'd buy a ps3 if cost at much as ps2 cost at release, really as a system, I don't really find the ps3 to be worth spending 600 dollars. ask yourself, what games on ps3 would you by no means be able to play on ps2? Ofcourse its not going to look as good on ps2, but the gameplay stays the same. ^^
