I own GW. It's the only online game I play due to them not charging any fees. I quit a while ago and pick it back up if I'm bored. It has a pretty good story, and you don't have to party with people if you don't want to. There are npc's you can party with, and you can complete the game without ever joining another persons party.

I agree that MMORPG games is like Drugs. But it's this way: We're humans - We all think diffrently but we stil are social creatures. MMO Games combines both gaming that many of us love togheter with social activity. This is what makes it so addicting. Ever since I started with MMO games, I've been more or less hooked. Anarchy Online for example, but then I switched to WoW which I actually quitted a while but got back because I had ruined my daily scheme - had nothing to do really and I rather play WoW then stare on MSN names. I play on Roleplaying realms on WoW, love it. It's fun and let's you pretend your someone else togheter with a bunch of others. Also CrazyJo, you want to shoot the crap out of others? Try Planetside then, they have a free year now - the diffrence is that you cannot reach the maximum potential ofcourse And that's a MMOFPS. Was fun for a while but it feels like you do no-to-zero damage. So I refunded my "certificates" eg. level up points and just flew around in a dropship - Great fun until they came with rocketlaunchers.. The only other game I would want to play as MMO currently ( except Burning Crusade ) is Gundam Online. cmd-whatever your name was.. That battletech game sounds awe-cool! Tell me more about it how it was and such Also, the only game that has the possibility of dragging me out of the MMO world to play and enjoy is Star Wars Battlefront 2 - I love it. It's so extreamly much fun - It's also very fun in Multiplayer. ( I am so going to buy the real version - currently only downloaded *cough cough* you did not read anything of what I just said ). I hope they will have some CPL of that game, I'd love to participate ( And WIN ofcourse )

Psk, Quake - Play a REAL Game! DooM 95! Now that's the stuff! No idiot jumping around all the time thinking they are uber with rocket launcher - No here we run and smack you down the same time Ack forgot to comment on this one: spend hours running through epmty field with boring music searching for party members to take on one monster at a time to get the amount of exp you should be having in the first place What says you must have party members? Except Final Fantasy online that is where you must be in a party or like 10 levels higher then the monster your bashing on. The point with Online games are Socialization, Fun and progressing your character. Also, cmd - DoTA isn't online, heck it isn't even a game - It's a level in Warcraft 3 that is even playable single player. It's fun though, just to sad that they have taken all spells and such from another site without giving any credits to them.

I've been playing online RPGs since the good old MUD days; strictly text based, but somehow alluring. Most recent online RPGs are just boring grinds.
I was in the US Final Fantasy XI beta test. The game was sooooo slow...I just couldn't get into it. And it seriously punished your mistakes with severe penalties for dying. The game was slow enough without having to re-earn your XP.

Psk, Quake - Play a REAL Game! DooM 95! Now that's the stuff! No idiot jumping around all the time thinking they are uber with rocket launcher - No here we run and smack you down the same time lol I find that very amusing since Doom is made by ID Software which.... makes the Quake series The problem I had with Doom was it was just a maze... everywhere I went looked the same

I've played quite a few Rakion, Gunbound, rose something, Ragnarok, Eve, There, a few others but they never really got me hooked, I keep on promising myself that i'll never buy WOW because I intend to see the light of day sometime. But I'm waiting for that Phantasy Star Universe, that game looks interesting!

Meh, I have FFXI.. It sucks because of so many reasons Don't base all MMO games on that one - Anarchy Online example, your strong on your own and if you have a friend, you can easily gain 12-20 levels in one day and even more. If you are like me well then your naturally slow Meh, Crazyjo, what about Duke Nukém 3d then? Quake in MP is fun, but not that fun because of all those idiots who think that they need to jump every second through the game - or all those who can shot the dots on a dice from 6 miles distance with Railgun.. Instant weapons For the Loss! I say it fullhearthed - Take the Ripper from UT and nothing can go wrong! Chronk, Ragnarok is fun but the movement with the camera drastically lowers the funness factor when you cannot decide how you want it look. EVE sucks so increadible much so I cannot even start to begin with. One word: You don't get to fly the ship yourself, you click where it needs to go. Intend to see the light? oO You play games - doesn't matter which one - sometimes to morning you know. I promise you see the sunlight at 0600 in the morning

RO is fun at first, until the leveling slows down. Then there's really not all that much to get into. The bosses are just bosses, the story is non-existant, and so on. WoW, for all it's drawbacks, does do an excellent job of tapping into the Warcraft Setting, and adding a degree of story to some of the stuff that you do. City of Heroes/Villains is very much the same way. They do an surprisingly good job at adding life to the world with their own numerous plotlines.
I like those sorts of aspects, myself. Make doing your quests fun. (RO has pretty much nothng in the way of quests, either =()

I've seen intressting stuff about City of Hereos/Villians but.. WoW is also easy to learn the controlls about - and some classes are very beginner friendly.. Like Hunter and Rogue.. RO - Man I'd love a good RP Realm for that! The characters are cute ^^ Female dancer * grin grin*

Duke Nukem 3D is one the greatest FPS game I've EVER played. and I'm kinda looking forward to the upcoming Duke Nukem Forever game, which has been in the development from 1997. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_Forever
NEVER forget Shadow Warrior!! Ahh yes... Back when 3D Realms made fun games. Are they even around still? Those were thet days... That reminds me of my first multiplayer gaming expereince. Sure, we did modem to modem. But man. 4 guys, knowing absolutely nothing about networking except for a few odds and ends, putting together a network on coax trying to figure out why 3 of us could see the game, but one of us couldn't. Then feeling really dumb when we realized we forgot to terminate one end of the coax lol. Doom was my first game with more than 2 people... And OMG how fun it was! We played all night! I remember it being daylight when we started, and looking out the window saying "HOLY CRAP! ITS MORNING TIME! ... Lets keep playing <evil grin>"
