Hello,
I'm planning to buy a laptop so I was wondering:
Which is the most powerful?
I need enough power (or more than enough power) to run the latest games (especially the Falcom games of course).
Yes I want a high end laptop.
Another problem is, is there a tablet PC that is as powerful or nearly as powerful?
I'm an artist and I feel that tablet PC would help me big time. But I want to play games too. Not just any games but the latest games (again don't forget the Falcom games).
Worst case scenario, I'll bring my Graphire with me along with the laptop T_T
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
PS: Did I ask this question before? I don't remember. So I apologize for the trouble.

Um... I don't think you need an overly powerful PC to do art programs. Of course, if you're into the heavy graphics or audio program stuff... then yes. I can feel a few of the "Get a Mac" answer. If you want a high power gaming computer then you're looking into the alienware laptops. They are DESIGNED for gaming but they're going to be in the range of $2500 and up. here are few pages that may help www.firingsquad.com/www.sharkyextreme.com/

Well the priority of the purchase is the tablet PC side
I was just wondering if there's a tablet PC that can handle the Falcom games
Yes I think I'm content with just playing the Falcom games^^
Felghana, Gurumin, Xanadu, Sora no Kiseki.... you get the idea
But yeah I'm grabbing a tablet PC whether I'd be able to play Falcom games with it or not (it would be sad ifI can't play though).
As for Phantasy Star Universe, maybe I'll just grab the PS2 version^^

If it's just falcom game... i'm certain most intel centrino or amd turions with like 80+gig hd and a decent onboard vid card AND 512meg ram will run the falcom games

Any other recommendations that would maybe pwn the requiremnts of Falcom games? Thanks a bunch^^ EDIT: HD space is no problem as I have 2 portable external hard drives^^

Make sure you get one with a 7200 RPM hard drive as most laptops come with 5400 RPM. It's quite a big difference too.
I'm not sure about the Tablet PC. I don't know anyone who has one so I don't know if there are any issues with them (game-wise). I just use my Wacom Intuos with my laptop (which also runs Felghana just fine).

I'll grab the most powerful tablet PC my money set aside for laptop can buy If it runs Falcom games at full speed then I'm lucky. If not.....well at least I got the tablet PC But well it looks like the 3D graphics software (I think it's called Maya or something.... never knew it existed until now ) I got with my Adobe software bundle would be installed on my PC instead if that would be the case^^ I just hope my Manga Studio is compatible with it (if it doesn't well I won't buy the tablet PC)^^ EDIT: I found a tablet PC with a Mobility Radeon X600 SE graphics card (?). But since I have only average knowledge with this computer crap (with the exception on games, art programs, and surfing the net), could you guys tell me if it's powerful enough to handle the Falcom games (again, from Ys 6 to present)? Thank you oh so very much

I think you should write down the game recommendation requirement (NOT the minimum). Then get something that's better...
If the requirement is a P3... go for the moble centrino... if mem is 256, get 512 or more... I believe most laptops are 512 or 1gig... hard drive, most i see out there are at least 80... and yes, get the 7200rpm... 5400 will be horrible. as for video card... min 256meg. The problem here is laptop have shared video memory. So, it's my recommendation to get 1gig of memory ram so that X amount of memory will be to the video.

Oooo... I like the expandible to 2gig memory! HD is 100gig but it's only 5400rpm vid card looks good
hey, you can even upgrade to vista when it's finally out on the market...
everything seems ok except the 5400rpm hd...

So will Falcom be playable on that laptop?
Or am I doomed with low-res, minimum effects, and low frame-rate?
I WANT OATH OF FELGHANA ON THE GO!!!
That appears to be the best tablet PC I could find with my $1500 budget. So unless anyone got something to add, I'll grab it sometime next month^^

well, if you dont mind the slowness of the hard drive... it seems pretty good. But the 5400rpm will kill you 3 or 4 years from now when you've got lots of program running

Thanks man (or is it ma'am?) you've been great help^^ Surely in 2-4 years I'd probably be hunting for a replacement anyway^^ And with the next gen consoles coming, I'd end up using the tablet PC more with art programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and most importantly my beloved Manga Studio. So the ability to handle Falcom games at excellent quality is enough graphical power I need..... unless Falcom betrays me and releases a PS3 quality game If there is anything else you'd like to add (like "NO FALCOM GAMES WON'T RUN IN HIGHER THAN MINIMUM SETTINGS YOU DUMMY!!!"), don't hesitate to tell before it's too late. Again thanks^^

You can always replace the harddrive later if you feel it is too slow, replacing a harddrive in a laptop is usually pretty easy.
