Ok, I just got it today and I'm LOVING IT!! For years I have wanted to play this game, and I let it slip the first time. Then it started going for over a hundred dollars on ebay and I never thought I would get to play it.
The soundtrack is definitely one of my favorites of all time and it's pretty much my favorite of Motoi Sakuraba's works. It is in a league of it's own, I have listened to it countless times.
The new cinemas created for this port are GORGEOUS!!! I started playing right away, and it has sucked me right in. I thought some of the prologue was a little wierd, but I'm hoping that will be cleared up as the story moves on. The voice acting is great is you ask me, but some characters are done better than others. I am unaware if the original PS1 game had any voice overs.
There are no loading issues as far as I can tell yet, and the character costumes/designs are beautiful. Man, I can't believe I let it pass by the first time around. Anyway, it's a phenomenal game. I have to recommend it for those who haven't played it yet.

You need to give it more of a chance, yeah. I'm kinda surprised you disdained the intro so much, it's not really much different or worse than most RPGs. Eh, maybe I'm just not very picky. I deeply enjoyed Valkyrie Profile, myself.

Did Tri-Ace develop Valkyrie Profile? (Too lazy to look.)

Yes, and the battle system is different from other Tri-Ace titles too.

Don't forget that the first volume of the OST to Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria is out.

I saw that, I need to get it ASAP, I'm gonna tear this game up, and then hit the second one when it comes out. This is a great game, and I really like the character Arngrim and his massive sword.

Arngrim is like the least inspired or plausible character, really.
Lezard, though... =D

Well, I won't be buying the OST for a while, since I have to worry about pre-ordering the game, some anime I've been neglecting, and SMT: DS. . . If I were a rich man, a-da-da-dee-da-dee. . .
(look out below, some may whine about spoiling)
Seeing as Arngrim is in the second one too (under his original name Aluze) (no, it's not really a spoiler, as his presence is made known on the VP webpage. . .), I'm willing to bet that he gets fleshed out even more than he was in VP1.

So far I really am loving this game. The detail in the backgrounds is beautiful if you ask me. And I forgot how much the soundtrack rules. I hope the soundtrack to part 2 is along the same style. I've only finished one dungeon so far, but I like the mixture of side-scroling and turn-based battles.

If you wanna keep the Aesir happy, send up two people every chapter.
Also, am I the only one who gets really irked that the Vanir are listed as the enemy, rather than the Jotuns? I suppose that's my North Mythology background getting the better of me.

If you wanna keep the Aesir happy, send up two people every chapter. Remember, the secret is not to make them too happy. . .

Well, now I'm totally comfortable with all the unique features of the game, and it's only getting better. I was also really happy I couldn't send my favorite character away.

Maybe you don't wanna keep 'em too happy >=[
GMF will figure things out.
Also: Yeah, Arngrim sucks to much to be allowed into Valhalla. That still makes me giggle. I think it's like that even if you powerlevel him.

I can't wait to see what else happens.

With the exception of Belanus, I assure you that you're getting the least interesting characters first.
Ergo: Prepare for pleasant surprises!

Man THIS GAME RULES!! I had some time to kill at the airport today and I went at it. I'm almost at ten hours now, which is a lot for me in such a short time. I really love Lenneth too, and how she speaks with authority in the game. It sounds neat, like she's trying to be a super-hero or something.
