No Phantasy Star = YOU FAIL IT.
But, having the rest of the series almost makes up for it. Almost.
Also: Are these straight ports, graphical facelifts, or remakes? And is this even coming out in the US?

For all my crotchety old manism, I probably would try to snag it, too.
I hope it's better than that Sega Smash Pack stuff they did for Dreamcast, though =(

Wow, what a piece of junk. Only four games worth playing. They're just releasing this to keep people away from the 1.50 exploit. Can't fight emulation? Sell emulation!

I loved Toejam & Earl. I thought it was one of the funniest games I've ever played as a kid. It had crued humour but sensible enough that a kids will just laugh at it.

Quackshot was indeed an outstanding Genesis game. I had the theme music memorized for over ten years. I need to play that again.

No, that's a totally different game. Legendary Axe was a side scrolling, more, platformer styled game. I think this is a great collection, as long as the emulation doesn't suck! I believe it's coming only to the US, as it's called the Sega Genesis Collection. Here's what I've read from Magicbox: Sega announced Sega Genesis Collection for PS2 and PSP, a compilation of over 30 classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive titles, which will be available in fall 2006. The PS2 version also features 3 unlockable Sega Master System classics. The list of titles include:

I guess its worth while to play these games with the dual shock 2 controller. This can still be done with GENS and a PS2 to PC adapter. There needs to be somesort of bonus material. How about scans of all the box covers and manuals and maybe even some unlockable commercials for some of the games. Activision Anthology really got it right with their classic compiliation.

I think the benefit, in this case, is the lack of questionable legality.

Plus, there are unlockables via 3 SMS games. And hey, I play roms, but, I also buy old school compilations, no doubt! I like having the real thing, rather then roms n' burns

Its too bad Castle of Illusion and Quackshot arent on this compilation. Although they were rehashed on the Sega Saturn some time ago. Aladdin and Lion King were also really good Disney games for the Genesis. I'm waiting for more details of what extras if any are put on this compilation. With the Wii coming out very soon Sega needs to make this compilation worth while.

Bugger. Given the price, it's probably just another lousy Smash Pack deal.

I'm inclined not to think so, because all the other retro collections are quite well done, so, I would think they'd spend more time on it, but, it's no guarentee ofcoarse.

I found out that this collection has a slew of bonus content including interviews with the original game developers, a museum that has interesting facts about the games, hints on how to beat the games, unockable sega arcade games.
Should be worth checkin out.

Sonic and Ecco were always great mindless wtf? fun, even if I was never really a Sega fan during that era.

Alex Kidd: The Enchanted Castle Altered Beast Eternal Champion Super Thunderblade These are all terrible games... Why have absolute shite on there, like Super Thunderblade, when there are a slew of incredible shoot-em-ups. The same with Alex Kidd - it's a "classic", but in name only. Altered Beast, being one of the first mega-drive games, is understandably apalling. Eternal Champions is certainly not the best example of it's genre. These are allm, however, worth the price methinks. It's a shame there's no Sonic 3, Streets of Rage, Ranger X and so on, but seriously, why package some great games with some that are so bad you'll find you won't want to play them. Unless they're completely remastered of course. I don't see what they're trying to do here. Sell games? Allow Sega to get back on everyone's good side? Remaster memorable games so that, together, they can compete with modern games? Ok fair enough, it's quite cheap XD Still, I don't understand some of their choices at all.

Not remastered, just emulated. This is what we call "milking."

Would have liked to see ShadowRun in thier. Loads better then the Snes ersion which i couldnt even play cuz the controls were so bad. I remember spending hours on the gen version just going into Cyberspace and hack/stealing files then selling em for quick cash to upgrade my deck
