I hope not. They call the music in Grand Theft Auto Vice City a soundtrack and it was just a bunch of pop tracks! I can't stand that.

A box set was released in North America with all the music. It even says soundtrack on it.

I figured that. It's almost all you can find in normal stores as a "game soundtrack" besides a few titles like Halo and Fable and Age of Empires. I would like to see that change one day.

With only a few game soundtracks released in mainstream stores outside of Japan, I just don't want to see box sets like Vice City etched in people's minds as video game music. Though it served it's purpose well. Some of the Tony Hawk games have a lot of music I grew up with as a skater, and now even that has been released on a CD.
Even the More Friends Final Fantasy Concert, which took place in the U.S., has only been sold in certain stores as an import CD. I hope that original game music, and not just music featured in games, will find a place on the store shelf as well. I had a few game soundtracks, mainly for RPGs, with me at a recent concert, and a lot of older people were shocked. They didn't know where to get them.

Here is a nice article that interviews six composers with some pretty good questions.

They just announced that Jeremy Soule will be a guest at the Toronto Play concert along with Uematsu & Mitsuyoshi. I hope I can ask him a couple questions about his MTV experience.
