Anyways, I'm just venting. I really thought it was some guy just trying to piss me off. So we were in an editing war. Blech. If you hadn't noticed that already - the vast majority of the Wikipedia mods are trying to piss you off. That is why I hate that site so very much.

Super Metroid Redesign... I spent some time awhile back creating a tribute website to it as well as a forum since the game is completely deserving of one. There is a link to it in my signature if you are interested in checking it out. gameflaws.com/cavestory/ was your site? Props!!! I love that site and was all over it back when I was addicted to Cave Story. It was VERY useful. Thanks!!

Yeah, I'm thinking they have some kind of god complex or something

You know another game that hasn't been mentioned here yet? Strider, for the NES. Not to be confused with the arcade version, NES Strider is very muchly done in the Castleroid style, albeit not as one CONTINUOUS map (different countries and ships get their own unique, and sometimes VERY LARGE maps)... it even has Metroid-esque special items, such as the magnet-boots, which allow you to walk along magnetized walls and ceilings... and the water-walk boots, which, as their name implies, allow you walk on the surface of water. And heck, it's even got wall-jumping, and a charge beam of sorts, and Metroid-style doors! It has its share of problems, too (such as ABSOLUTELY GODAWFUL jumping and hit detection), but it's really a very good game, with a messy but interesting storyline, and some pretty cool map designs (with Egypt and Africa of particular note... and yes, Egypt and Africa are DIFFERENT locations, but hey, this was the NES, and Capcom! Cut 'em some slack!). Worth a look if you've never played it -- and to go with the Goonies topic on here, also a great choice for an eventual remake, as it could really, REALLY use one. -Tom Oh yeah! Strider was a fun series and I remember the NES one having many elements of Metroid in it now that you mention it. It certainly had the most interesting story out of all of them. The others while fun to play were very cliche I remember: Plot Summary: Act 1: Enter the Stider, the one who can stand against the Grandmaster. But what is he and where does he hail from and where does he get those wonderful toys? Acts 1-Most of rest of the game: "You Foo! I pity da foo who try and rise up again'st da Grandmasta! Don' give me no jibba jabba "SHIING" foo!" Final Act: "I am da Graaaaaaandmaster and I am big and cheesy and hard to hit with your short range weapon! You see this glowing? Yeah normal people can't do that. Come get some of this glowing." Final Form: "Now see my true form.... IN DISPAAAAAIR!" Ending: Grandmaster: "Rarrr, this cannot be! I am/was invincible to the eXtreeeme!" FIN... or is it? ---- Wow. That just um... sorta came out... But yeah, fun games none-the-less. Ahem. : ) Strange that the site didn't mention "Strider's Revenge" for Genesis unless I just didn't see it there. It was basically another Strider 2. Hey thanks for checking it out. I'm glad it was helpful to you. To be honest, after playing Cave Story I just wanted to give something back and overnight I decided I'd start building a site to get more people interested in playing the game as a tribute to all of Pixel's hard work on the game. It's surprising how big that community has become with all sorts of mods and fan development projects. I can barely keep up with it. Hopefully this next project XyZ, which deals with Xak, Ys and Zelda will take off sometime as well. I'm hoping on it since I could really rant all day long about these series. lol -SkyeWelse

I think he means Strider Returns aka Strider 2 for Genesis, Game Gear, Amiga, etc.

Yeah, Strider Returns was the one I was thinking of. And apparently they have a pretty indepth analysis on that one on the elusive "Page 2" of the hardcore strider site.
And ParanoiaDragon is right, Beyond Shadowgate is an extremely kickass game! I guess I need to check out Shapeshifter and Night Creatures someday as well. I've never heard of them.

Usually I'm that kind of person, but, not with this game. You can find a rom of it anywhere. As for Shapeshifter, just LMK when you want it It's a tough game, but there is a cheat code that makes it beatable, without making it easy.

Cool, I look forward to checking it out sometime. I'm also hoping to find some time soon to index several of the games you pointed out to me into that Action-Adventure-RPG page as soon as I can. Seems like all I do now is go to work, come home, eat dinner, sleep, rinse, lather, repeat. I barely have time to keep up with all the kickass Ys news coming out. lol -SkyeWelse

As we get older, time goes by faster, & we wonder where the time went to play games, or work on our own projects, etc.
