Well finally got my memory stick and cable today and am trying to do the downgrade using that program Seldane posted a few pages back. Still no red screen though, every time I go into the photo menu it freezes then powers off.
[nm, i just read about the looow success rate. Got a red now, so here's hoping]
[edit2: SUCCESS! Now to do the upgrade]

Okay, okay.. I'm thinking about getting one again. On again, off again since it came out. Anyway, a couple of quickie questions.. if I find a 2.71 or below, how long does it take to do all the stuff up to having the newest custom firmware and is "bricking" still possible doing this? Secondly, MAME for PSP.. is it decent? Does it allow playing Wonder Boy in Monster Land?
That is all.. for this now.

Lovely, I bought it used on ebay, so, guess I'm screwed.

When I bought my PSP on ebay over a year ago, I made sure it was a 1.5. The seller even advertised it that way.

Ouch, yeah that's definitely a faulty screen. Not much you can do about that I'm afraid.

Well, like I've told others, atleast it isn't in the middle of the screen, that would suck alot more! And hopefully I can exchange it at EB, if not, I'll just live with it

Did you contact the seller? Be aggressive! He probably never even mentioned this major flaw!

I did, and he's a really good seller, not a single negative ever. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, I don't usually, but, in this case I did.

A "really good seller" sold me a broken SNES recently. No negatives, no nothing. Broken. Filed a claim, got a full refund and got to keep the SNES. This, of course, was because the seller didn't reply to my claim, not because he was being fair.

Well, I already gave him positive feedback, & everything else was in mint condition, & I made 40 bucks off the 2 games that he sold with it. I can't see my self making a claim. Besides, he responded to my messages to him, so, I don't know if I would've gotten my money back. I'd gotten money back on half.com loads of times, but, not ebay.-

Sooo... is anyone here willing to tell me how to get this UMD loader stuff working? I've put my Gurumin iso in the root memory stick ISO folder, but it won't work without giving an error. Tried turning on the 'No UMD' thing in the recovery menu and it works without the UMD in, but gives me no music. Do I need any other programs/settings enabled?

Did you have an UMD (any) inserted when you tried the ISO? Gurumin requires it.

Can you download official demos and updates while running custom firmware? I want to get Mega Man Powered Up and I know there's a bunch of stuff you can download for it.

Yeah, you can. I haven't found any real limitations to using one of Dark Alex's Custom Firmwares in lieu of Sony's official ones. Worst case scenario, if you can't download the demo straight to your PSP, download it to your PC and transfer it via USB.

Ok, my buddy at EB got traded me my PSP for a refurbished one. Though, right when I turned it on, I can tell that the Sony techs are a little strange. As they had wallpaper on their, of a chick on all fours, buck naked. A friend of mine said they could be sued for stuff like that, whatever.
Anyways, not only did my old PSP have that line, but it also, no matter what, could not connect to the net. Infact, there was a smudge mark, I could never get out, & we're pretty sure, that it's on the inside, & that the PSP had been tampered with, hence why it had all these problems! I'm pretty pissed off at the guy I got it from, but, now I have this replacement which works flawless, so, I'm ok.
