If you can find "All your base"/"Take off every zig", that one's pretty good. Just gotta find a good stepfile for it...

Odin Sphere is fun times. HOW ARE YOU CHEATING?! BAD NUNUU! d00de, I can't stand the alchemy and item system -- especially with the two goddamn bags I'm stuck with throughout most of Gwendolyn's chapter. I eventually got 6 large bags (after cheating). So! What I did is that I made those aspects of the game non-existent! I can buy EVERYTHING -- literally EVERYTHING -- from EVERY SELLER. Recipes, prophecies, materials, seeds, food, coins, accessories, etc.! I did the works too and have invulnerability, infinite POW and AMMO, max Psypher ... mwahahaha. I figure all this should cut down the average play time by a good chunk. >:3 I'm curently on Mercedes' story. Loved the ending to Cornelius'. It was so sweet~~~ TT~~~~

Simple gaming = awesome I'm playing Defenders of Oasis, on Game Gear. On PSP. In a very tiny square in the middle of the screen, with massive black borders on the right, the left, the top and the bottom. Because that's the ONLY way to do it. It's a really cool game. I have a thing for old primitive RPGs for portable systems, it seems. They have the most awesome charm.

I have never had any luck emulating anything on my psp. I always thought it looked like alot of work.

It's easy once you got the custom firmware installed. Which I never did. I got a pre-custom firmwared unit from Hong Kong because I was afraid to do it myself. But ironically, I have helped a lot of people to get their PSPs modded after that. I noticed you're playing Pokemon Emerald. First time playing it? I love that game. Regarless, enjoy it man. Don't get too many badges too fast, savor it.

Oh I am savoring it for sure. I am really taking my time with it. I take it to work with me or if I have to go out for dinner. I am really trying to enjoy it "portably" and leisurely. I only played the Gameboy versions, and I gotta say its a big improvement.

Nunuu you make me weep. Why do you hate gaming? ;_; I do not hate gaming! I just hate obnoxious systems that interrupt my gameplay! .... ....................... ................................................Christ, I just became wyrdwad. This is exactly his view on SHADOW HEARTS. Dear God. Seriously though, I would seriously either need to farm for money or grow food like mad to get HP up. Otherwise, I'd be dying everywhere. :/ And to think I'd have to do that for EVERY CHARACTER. *head-desk*

Ahhh I see where your gripe with the series is. I love the judgment ring system big time, and I think I played the game at the right time. It was right after FF10 and there was no other RPG games around to my knowledge. I went to blockbuster and got Shadow Hearts on a whim for only $5 bucks. They were off selling to make room for new titles, and everything was $5 bucks. Needless to say it was a sweet sale, and I figured I couldn't go wrong. I spent a whole weekend getting into that game, by myself in my lowly apartment. Perhaps the game has a nostalgia feeling for me, but its just hard to hear someone really not like it that much.

So do I man! I thought I was the only person that even knew about that game. Blue Dragon was totally inspired from elements of Okage: Shadow King.

I cant understand why it flopped really. I think at the time everybody wanted the "serious big budget" rpg. If the game came out on the DS or even the PSP, it would have done much better. Im not worried because I got the game.
You want to know what really pisses me off. I traded in my copies of Shadow Hearts and Kouldeka and I can believe how much they are worth on ebay. $60 for a game I paid and traded for $5..... what a kick in the teeth.

ARGH
Playing the Brain Age demo from the DS Download Service at the Nintendo Channel.
I HAVE THE BRAIN OF AN 80-YEAR-OLD on the Quick Brain Age Check. :( And ... since I'm very horrible at any type of math, I performed at Walking Speed for the Quick Training.
Woe is me. TT
Hirm! After playing demos of both games, I sort of want them. Hate the yelling out and Sudoku stuff though.

If you could take Persona 1, you can take Koudelka.
And the Judgement Ring, really. =[

I am pretty open minded as well, but if its a game that insists on grinding, and the battle system is very drawn out, then I tend to shy away. If there is an option to turn off battle animations or something then I am happy. Hoshigami was so damn annoying, because of how long it took for the enemy to attack. Fire Emblem got it right, but adding an option to turn off enemy/party battle animations. Honestly, its because of over the top cinematic that I could really care about summon spells now. It all just takes too damn long, and that is not efficient gameplay to me.

Grinding is directly proportional to how much fun the game is. Things like Ys and Odin Sphere, you never really notice it as the actual combat is pretty fun. In proper RPGs, it's about the same. The more you can mess with a system and do silly shit, the better. Phantom Brave comes to mind here, as you had a few different ways to grind (Viva Failure Dungeons!) Persona 3 is pretty with it too, due to both limited time and the amount of silliness you can engage in with extra turns.
Overall, I'm not a fan of grinding at all, but sometimes I do it anyways.
