I just finished playing and did much better, beating the second and third boss. The next levels after level three with the asteroid fields are much harder, I was dying instantly.

Thank god they started making the AI for the rest of your party a bit smarter later on in the franchise, though. ::) I'm surprised that they didn't up the AI along with the graphics in the PSP one. I guess it would have been different if the game offered the player the billion battle strategy options like Tales of Eternia did. :P But seriously, the party either spams their techs and spells like mad or just stand around and swat at enemies that come near. >_> (Well, okei, usually the second or third choices have them attacking with a brain SOMEWHAT. :B) Oh, MP83, how's the translation on the PS one? I must order this game soon! I'm just trying to figure out when the best time is cuz I want the game to come when I'm at home. XD Say, you know those NPCs that dance in the SNES/SFC version? Do they all dance like this in the DS one? => www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSmPfLCrk0s

Bleh... I always hated how they'd spam the crap out of their techs/spells. Half the time it meant by the time I hit a boss, the dingbats would be out of TP. Or they just plain wouldn't MAKE it there because the only other option was to have them try and physically attack. ...Yeah, Mint or Klarth physically bopping things. It is to laugh. ::) Heehee, yep, most of them dance roughly like that. All the dancer models (barring strange, cross-dressing Fabul monks and drunken dwarves) look like that. And seriously, get the game. It's wonderful stuff if you're at all fond of the original or its ports. ;D I really, really hope Squeenix will localize it without too much delay. ...and hopefully some decent dubbing.

I recently bougth and played Sega Rally for the PC. I don't like the conversion that much, mainly because there are some problem with current pc setups (figured out how to slow it down, but then it looks really bad with a 16:10 screen. Also the game is 1:1 the same as the saturn version, i.e. no setup of the controls in the options menu, instead you got to press F3, it's not like I would know that from the start ) But it looks nice between my Sega Rally Collection.

For some reason I stopped playing Galaxy this week to go back and play Lufia and the Fortress of Doom Then it snowed outside and I had the urge to play Parasite Eve again. Yeah, I know I have a horrible attention span. It shows like an ugly, dark glow of bile and it'll keep being my downfall in various activities oh well, it's been a happy week.

Try Sega Rally "Revo" for PC instead. Its name isn't Sega Rally Revo, but some people call it that for some reason. It was, like, the working title or whatever. It's just Sega Rally. But it's from 2007. And it's real pretty.
Too bad it isn't possible to install it, you have to manually drag the files from the DVD to your hard drive... and I'm NOT the only one who had this problem.
Also: beware of its soundtrack. You're going to need something to plug your ears with.

Pretty much same with me... although I haven't beat the Chrysler building yet and I've played up to disc 2 of the 2nd game. I can't believe they're making a new one for cellphones and with a completely different team of developers instead of a true new installment on consoles, but at least that one isn't PE3 but a side game. There's been rumors going around of a third one since the rumor about PE3 for GC back in 2002, but nothing's come up.

I was checking out Rom hacking yesterday and noticed in the news that some dood had released an English translation for Emerald Dragon SFC!! This is mad news, since I have been waiting for that to get finished for such a loooong time, but for the PCE version - I had no idea someone was working on the SFC version, which is even cooler!
Well, now I am playing this and it turned out rather promising, the battle system sure is unique and pretty fun. Some people like to compare this to Ys for some reason, but it is absolutely NOTHING like Ys in ANY WAY, so don't be fooled.
But the game turned out to be a pretty damn generic japanese RPG. As usual. And as usual, the story blows, the level design blows, the graphics are terrible... but at least the music is fairly good. I am kind of enjoying the game, but not as much as I hoped I would. I doubt I will play it for much longer though.
The typical anime story really puts me off. It's not particularly common in old RPGs, but as this was originally a PC-88/98 game, I can understand why it has it. So many games for those systems were total "anime games", and this is not really an exception. It's really dialogue-driven... And the characters are damn annoying losers and I don't like any of them. And apparently this game is based on "character development", which I hate.

I would like to play that, having enjoyed what I played of the PCE version.
Right now it's Etrian Odyssey and Soldner-X, though I may also take up Sora no Kiseki SC again today.

I haven't played the PCE version, but apparently it is about the same as the SFC one. It's more tedious for me to play translated PCE games... I refuse to use emulators, and burning a cd-r and stuff is boring, plus I'm a bit reluctant to use cd-rs in the PCE since it seems to not like them very much (but maybe I'm safe now that I have a brand-new laser, but I'll still keep to originals as much as I can). So I'm sort of glad that I found that the SFC one had gotten a translation, I can just use my flash cartridge to play it. But that post came out too negative ( ), I really did enjoy the game, and now it is actually getting better. The battles started out real fast, which I liked. Then they got slower, and uninteresting. Now, they're slower still, but very intense and quite entertaining. Perhaps one of the better battle systems in a Japanese RPG, actually. It is sort of a variation of a typical strategy RPG system, but much faster and way simpler. I find that the battles themselves are actually more interesting than the game itself. I have almost never felt this way about a game. For the most part, I wish I could turn off battles altogether and have a completely enemy-free RPG. Fun game, but the story really really really blows. This game is probably one of the few games that's BETTER played in japanese - then you won't understand all the crap that the lame characters say. Oh and the about the soundtrack... I dunno... I do like the songs, but they did something that just annoys me. I guess it's the constant interruptions in music (the encounter rate is very high). MAP MUSIC for a few secs -> BATTLE MUSIC for a few secs-> VICTORY MUSIC -> MAP MUSIC, etc. Obviously, the map music start over from the top after each battle... I had way more fun with this game when I muted it and put some of my own music in the background instead. After all this though, I recommend Emerald Dragon - at least to those who like really old classic RPGs (NES-era!). But it would probably be a much wiser choice to play the X68000, PC-9800 or FM-Towns versions. They're in Japanese (you won't be exposed to the bad story), and apparently highly superior to the console (or weak computer - MSX2/PC-8800) ports.

Just started Dawn of Mana yesterday. It's soooooo pretty... but the camera during gameplay is an evil, evil beast.

Yeah, the camera and the controls are really bad... I found it to be very repetitive and pointless to play (kill a million enemies to "level up", only to be shot down to level 1 again after finishing the chapter) but the boss battles were really challenging and fun.

I'm enjoying it, but I'd enjoy it a LOT more if I didn't have to constantly keep my thumb fiddling with the second analog stick to make the camera mind. The level progression thing doesn't bother me so much; with the way they break it up into chapters and throw chunks of scenario at you, it kinda helps keep the interest for me more than it would if they let you just power grind from start to finish like a lot of other action RPGs. I definitely agree about the boss battles though. Those (so far) are excellent and entertaining. I wouldn't mind if Square takes the Seiken Densetsu games further with thing engine-- if they'd FIX the funky camera/controls first.

I know it might sound trendy but I've been rocking the drums on Rock Band. If you play Hard and Expert difficulty you will get a near real experience of what its like to play an actual drum set. Considering there is 3 songs released every week via XBOX LIVE, I've been busy. Its more entertaining than going to the gym!

Wait. New Zealand Story? Like, as in Kiwi Kraze? Because I remember that bidness on NES. It was cute and hard as fuck.
