I know it might sound trendy but I've been rocking the drums on Rock Band. If you play Hard and Expert difficulty you will get a near real experience of what its like to play an actual drum set. Considering there is 3 songs released every week via XBOX LIVE, I've been busy. Its more entertaining than going to the gym! Rock Band - more entertaining - but less effective - than the gym.

Considering there is 3 songs released every week via XBOX LIVE, I've been busy. Its more entertaining than going to the gym! DrumMania is better. I have a bit of a grudge against Guitar Hero and Rock Band, both of which owe most of their "innovations" to Konami's Guitar Freaks and DrumMania. And while I don't like either Guitar Freaks OR Guitar Hero, I *adore* DrumMania, and so I was kinda looking forward to Rock Band... but there is virtually nothing about Rock Band that even comes CLOSE to delivering the same level of enjoyment I get from DrumMania. If you have the ability to play import PS2 games, I highly recommend picking up a DrumMania game sometime. The newest one, DrumMania V3, is probably the best so far -- though you might be better off starting with 2nd or 3rd Mix, as V3 is not exactly beginner-friendly. -Tom The thing is that Drummania is made for the japanese market with japanese songs. Sure there is probably a couple western songs thrown into them but its japanese dominant music. I'm a western boy, and I like my western rock so Rock Band is my cup of tea.

Pardon my ignorance and laziness for Googling the game but isn't Rock Band more than JUST drumming? I know that Keyboardmania, DrumMania and Guitar Freaks can be played together so I take it Rock Band is more like this than simply DrumMania. Hirm~ I like a lot of rhythm-type games but I've yet to try Guitar Hero or Rock Band. I've watch my friends and other people play though (usually at stores or, most recently, at Video Games Live). XD

Rock Band focuses on playing Bass, Vocals, Guitar, and Drums all at the same time. Of course you need 3 or 4 people to do this. If you only have 3 people then you could have somebody play drums and sing, play bass and sing, or play guitar and sing provided you have a mic stand.
Rock Band has surpassed Guitar Hero in fun factor mind you have friends to play with you. One thing Guitar Hero does have over Rock Band though is extreme difficulty if your a seasoned Rhythm game junkie.

Also Rock Band's music choices are really really mediocre compared to any of the Guitar Heroes. I was all interested in playing Rock Band with my friends, but the songs are largely just so meh that I simply do not care to get involved.

I read something about Metallica including a song in Rock Band........ a song that is completely new. I would like to hear it, but definitely not play the game. And Guitar Hero III has a song by The Fall of Troy! That is very cool. Other than that, probably crapance. Hahahahahah!!!! I dreamed that I played Guitar Hero III, but I have never played it, or even seen it in real life. It will probably remain like that.......forever. Hahahahahahaha!!!!!

I like Rock Band's interface better the way the notes are presented but Drummania seems to have a more realistic drumkit setup. The position of each drum piece in terms of elevation is pretty spot on for drummania.

Rhythm games are for pussies. When will they release polyrhythm games? Please let me know when that happens. Until then, I'll be playing my rpgs.

oh, and sitting on a couch and playing a standard video game is manly? Its more fun to watch somebody shredding on the simulated guitar or drums on an insane difficulty rather than playing a 50 hour RPG.

In Rock Band you know when you missed a beat when the multiplier keeps on getting reset from 4X to 0X. Also on the Expert difficulty, its possible to get more than 5 stars on a song. Its called a Gold star and you pretty much can only mess up a couple times through the whole song in order to get gold. Its based on score too so you have to know when to utilize the overdrive power bringing the multiplier to 8X on sections that have tons of notes.

~ Wii Play and Kirby 64 going on the Wii. ~ Ys Origin on the PC. And some random bouts of C&C3. ~ Tales of Phantasia and DJMax Portable 2 (still ^^) on the PSP.
Yes, I made all that rhyme on purpose!
