Remember when fans like us bombarded Konami to leave in the original music for Ys 6?? What did they do?? They left it in!! I feel it is our duty to write and ask them to get this game ported to the PS2 immediately......hey ya never know! Go to this link to ask ------> www.konami.com/gs/email.shtml

Hey thanks for the link! I put in a response to Konami immediately. If enough people do it, it will work. This game has just replaced The Dawn of Ys as my favorite title in the series. IT IS SOOOO COOL!! I haven't even finished it yet.

Well... it may not be necessary, actually. There are some pretty strong rumors that Konami is very interested in doing a port of Oath. As in, VERY interested. Still only rumors, but the source had talked with Konami people themselves. Or at least, so I was told.

I've already did some begging at the forums of Konami. I agree with Deuce, I wish Konami would spill some sort of info.

From all the reports I heard, Konami said they would be interested in porting Felghana IF their PS2 version of Napishtim sells well enough. So now the question is "did the PS2 version sell well enough?". To answer that, you need to know what the total sales of the PS2 version are to date, and how much that would need to be in order to be considered "enough". That said, in any case, I would still prefer an English PC version. Konami has console rights, but no one's got the PC port rights... well, I guess Falcom still has that, but they won't make an English version themselves (and knowing their trouble with the English language, I don't think we'd want them to do it by themselves anyway ).

Why do you want the PC version translated? Of course, it'd be nice with a patch, so you wouldn't need to buy another game, but I would still prefer a PS2 version. This is a game that plays much better on a console.

Personally, given the halfassed job they did with Ark, I shudder to think of what they'd do to Oath. 320x240 resolution, 12 fps, no textures, no special effects, and half the number of enemies on screen, perhaps?

I got a response from Konami today. It said "Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at Konami Support. Your time and effort is appreciated."
Regards,
Konami Customer Support
I was expecting something like this. Anyone else get the same response out there? This one made me laugh.

I dont mind Konami replacing the 2D sprites with 3D models. It gives the game more variety. Just play the PC version if you want sprites and play the console version if you want 3D models. At least there wouldnt be no debate about a whole new original soundtrack replacing the PC version. The soundtrack is just too good to be replaced.

Personally, given the halfassed job they did with Ark, I shudder to think of what they'd do to Oath. Every time I hear something like that, I think of the idiot that insisted that the PC version was better because of the blood and guts flying all over the place when you kill enemies. He made out the game to be Mortal Kombat in gore. I do find the whole campaign to shun the port to be entirely counterproductive in making Ys popular enough to keep getting released outside of Asia.

I would rather have a PS2 version of Felghana due to the fact that the graphics on my television from my computer suck, so I would like something clearer....I was so happy to get Napishtim on my PS2 and it was a great port from the original..... IMO.

Oh, you misunderstand me. I have the PS2 port (English and Japanese originals), and I constantly hype them and have a link to buy them on my website. But the fact is, it's a very weak port. Better something than nothing. One of my friends keeps telling me how utterly poor the port for Ys I & II Eternal is for the PS2 (he keeps saying the footsteps drive him crazy) and stuff, but at least he got to play it at all. I get told all the time that the SNES port of Ys III is the weakest of them all, and yet I got to play Ys III at all is better than not playing it. The only Ys IV I got to play was Mask of the Sun, and I get told all the time that it's the weaker version of Ys IV. And I still think it's better that than not playing it at all. Sure, well, I played what is considered the weakest versions of all the Ys games put out. It still got me this far. Other than the crap-ass voices I was happy I got to play Ark at all, regardless of how much worse it looked to the PC version. I mean, hey, when I can afford to be picky about Ys ports I might say the same stuff you do, but until then, I can't. I might say the same things about Oath's port if I can ever get the darn game to play again (which I can't play at the moment due to no small part frying the laptop that could play it).
