I'm using Win Xp on a Pentium 4 2.8 ghz with 1 Gb of ram, graphics card is a radeon 9600 atlantis with 256 mb

Try running the game from the cd/dvd. The executable can be found there. Alternatively, try copying all the files to your hdd by yourself. It might not work, but it 's worth trying.

ok i've tried both but it doesn't work either Is there a difference between YSF_WIN.exe and YSF_WIN_DX9.exe?? And could it be a configuration from this game that my graphic card doesn't support ?? i have made many test by changing some options but nothing worked Is there any translation of the configuration panel yet?
Thanks

Try both YSF_WIN.exe and YSF_WIN_DX9.exe, and if neither of them work, rollback to some older Catalyst drivers.

Ok TigerShard, i tested it with all OS but it didn't work, did you have the same error as me before trying to execute it in Windows 98 compatibility mode?? And everyone, did someone make it work with a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Cause maybe the problem is my graphics card even though some people make it work with older cards than mine like a geforce MX440

Ok I got my version to work in a weird way. I did everything right, but when i clicked on YsF.exe or the directx 9 one it would go black then go back to the desktop. What i did was I browsed through the folders on the dvd, clicked on the "logo.avi" and got an explorer error just from high lighting the file. So since the file/folder structure is the exact same I copied the YsVI "logo.avi" over to the YSF folder and overwrote it. I clicked on the YSF.exe and lo and behold it worked. Afterwords I browsed my YsF dvd, and the "logo.avi" file still gave me a EXPLORER.EXE error. Well at least I can get YsF to load and play now but it just plays the YsVI logo now at the beginning. Does anyone else get this error when double clicking on the "logo.avi" file on their dvd?

Hmm I was thinking it was a codec issue. If i just highlight the logo.avi folder I get a EXPLORER.EXE program error. That doesn't seem like a codec issue. Also I don't think it should matter if it's Windows 2000 or Windows XP. BTW I am running Windows 2000 SP4 with DX 9c drivers and the newest NVidia Drivers. The game runs great but only if I replace the logo.avi file with the YSVI one. It's just weird. I appreciate the help though. I do have a Windows XP Pro cd that I got from intel with my mother board. If it really bothers me I guess I can do a fresh install of XP and get SP2. Does the logo.avi file play fine for you? Is anyone else having problems playing that file on their YSF dvd or HD? Thanks again for the help.

hi geise69 i tried to do like you were saying but it didn't work for me i think my pc isn't the problem because i'm able to run games like Half Life 2 and Doom 3.. i don't think that Ys needs more ressource than those games Maybe the problem lies in my Ys version, my error seems like a programming error, it says Invalid Call, maybe a program calls to an unexisting variable or something else.. im not good enough to tell it...

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but since it didn't work on the one I got from Falcom I found a version to try and see if it did the same thing. Well it did. Maybe there's something With windows 2000 and that file. I'll take my original dvd to work and try it out on my computer there to see if it does the same thing. That computer is a Windows XP Pro with SP2. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again.

Ok I got to work and put the dvd in my computer. The logo.avi file played fine! Then I tried it on a windows 2k computer and it worked fine! Why would only my computer not like that file? I'll mess with it when i get back from work. I'll stop posting about this though cause it's really not that big of an issue. I can still play the game fine, just with the YsVI logo plays at the beginning instead.
Ok I figured it out. I dled the KLite codec pack. It was a codec issue. I never knew not having a codec would cause and Explorer.exe program error. Now I know.

Did you try to uncheck all the boxes in the config program? Otherwise, go to your username folder and locate the Ysf config file.
