Been about a year since I played an Ys game. There are so many though that I just dont know which one to play. I will not that I have never finished Ys 5 (SNES) or played the PS2 version. The only game I do not have is Ys Strategy, Origin, and the DS games.
If you were in the same position what you would play?

I guess mask of the sun has been translated but I never played it. I finished my Jap copy before discovering the patch. I ended up with the first version of Ys 5, not the expert one. Problem is Ys 5 is always regarded as the "least favorite" so I am not pumped to plug it in.

Replay a game you liked or get Origin! XD
I don't have opinions on the DS games but I did try Ys V Expert and if it has the same gameplay as the regular Ys V then bleh. It never held my attention. Of course, I sucked at it but that's beside the point!

Ys V is not regarded as a "least favorite", it's just that nobody's ever played it. And it's their MASSIVE loss, because it IS the best Ys game of them all! It's such a great game! Man, now I really really want to replay it - AGAIN. Wow, that game has such an "adventure" feeling to it. Only Ys V and Ys IV The Dawn of Ys has that feeling. You know, that awesome feeling of the wind blowing through your hair, when you're on a great big journey. THAT kind of feeling. Especially the later half of the game. Wow, amazing game.

Hahaha, I love that everybody hates Ys V! It deserves all the hate in the world! I am so confused haha I don't care if the game is shit or silk, its an Ys game and I am sure I will enjoy it. Anyone know where a good walkthrough for the game can be downloaded.

Hahaha, Seldanation.
Also, Mask of the Sun is pretty keen, but it feels, I dunno, a little too minimalistic. I'm spoiled by sprite animation and shit, I suppose.

Apparently the PS2 remake is trash. Can't say for myself, but everyone tends to insist it is.

Its not "bad" but its not very good. If you never played an Ys game before and had no expectations then it would fit nicely in the "niche" Japanese rpg category.
I was just being sarcastic, because if they kept the same gameplay formula and upgraded everything else, it would have been a great remake. Its kinda like how Phantom Menace is shit only because we know what a good Star Wars movie is supposed to be, but its still great to watch because its Star Wars.

The only thing menacing about Phantom Menace was friggin Jar Jar and his annoying accent. The only good one out of the first three was the third one, if only for the fact that it takes alot of cues from The Empire Strikes Back; which was totally epic in comparison.

Hey now, to be fair Phantom Menace also had the podrace announcer, who was pretty damn funny. Given I come from a family of NASCAR fans, so I get exposed to that bidness from time to time.
Although, yeah. I used to be a big fan of Star Wars and its novels and shit before Phantom Menance, even to the point I forgave Kevin J Anderson. Then Phantom Menace came out, and it became all Jedi all the time, and I just dropped off the map =[

If I'm lucky and get to see a crash in a Nascar race, that's what'd make my day. Nascar crashes and hockey fights. I just hope they don't try to remake Episodes IV-VI. If they do, Ford better be up to playing Solo again!

Eh. Nascar's a thing for mechanics. There's really no point in watching it unless you're a mechanic and can actually understand the differences in the engine makes and suspension set-ups and shit. And while there is also a skill aspect to getting around people at those speeds without causing a huge accident, that's not very fun to watch.
So yeah, most Nascar fans are...well, I dunno. Not mechanics. I never did understand how it became anything other than a niche thing.

"It's getting really exciting now, folks! OH MY GOD! LOOK, LOOK AT HIM, HE'S GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER LEFT! Unbelievable folks! The sheer determination of #59, just look at him go! Wait! He's doing it again! HE JUST MADE ANOTHER LEFT TURN! This just might be a new record folks! Simply amazing!"
Yeah, if it weren't for crashes... even so, I get all the crashes and more on Spike TV, the show where they show people who have survived some crazy bs. The weirdest one I saw was this guy who cleans zoo cages for a living, he gets his head stuck up an elephant's ass. Talk about taking your job a little too seriously!

Ha Ha I love this board. I mean this topic has gone from Ys to Star Wars and then to Nascar and its still on topic.

Well to be fair about circle tracks, it is about beating the other guys, not winning an obstacle course. And making a turn at 200+ MPH is no joke. You gotta do that shit just right or...well, off you go into the wall.

“I want to be a race car passenger: just a guy who bugs the driver. Say man, can I turn on the radio? You should slow down. Why do we gotta keep going in circles? Can I put my feet out the window? Man, you really like Tide...”
