What is that from? Aside from the basement of Awesome? And thanks, guys, for the full scoop on Legend of Mana. I think I may give a whirl sometime (though not sometime soon--*buried alive under games*). If some of the quests are connected into something akin to scenario arcs, it may keep my interest better than a game full of random. I'm admittedly (strangely) picky when it comes to quest arrangement. I LOVE sidequests in a game--I'll lose myself for hours just doing the little extra stuff in Elder Scrolls, or, currently, Xenoblade--but I like it to be a (drawn out) distraction, and not the entire substance. --I never did finish Arc the Lad III.

It's been years since I touched Legend of Mana, and with my super senile memory, I've pretty much forgotten all (so I guess me saying this is not much~ ^ ^;;;~), but... the 'sidequests' never quite felt like sidequests to me. :'D Rather more like three story arcs with some random other mini stories scattered inbetween (or getting to know the stories of most of the residents of the world - a story explorer of sorts? *bad describer*)? And that the character one controlled was more of a.... viewer or helper, than someone who 'grew' from the arcs. Rather, my vague airy memory tells me that it was the people who... were the 'stars' of each arcs, who one's main character 'aided' or so, who kind of grew. :'D I wonder if I remembered all woonky? :'D Eitherway, the one thing that I do remember is that I LOVED the game. X'D But then again, I haven't played any of the other mana games, so.... probably my opinion once more doesn't count as much again. X'D

....I think I just had a long day at work~ @___@''''~ Dratted university has restarted, and the trauma of traveling all the way to there has been doubled two fold with the news that I shall be teaching two different years, instead of simply my good old 2nd year students.

Obviously, you should get paid simply for the travel trauma--actually teaching should be an optional extra, which pays bonus should you decide to do so! Actually, you seem to have quite trustworthy tastes. God knows you keep making me want to give Tactics Ogre a replay. . . STOP IT! Nyaa~ OOOhhh. Thank you, Mr. Freak. That is quite impressive.

After listening to music from UN Squadron yesterday, I was bemused by its musical stylings. While a lot of the tracks feature that wonderful Capcom synth guitar, all of the songs are actually pretty slow-paced. Take that all you Touhou players with your silly fast piano/synth riffs.
And I never realized before just how tense and foreboding some of the music is
I wanna play this game again! I've got a thing for bosses with multiple points you can target and destroy. UN Squadron delivered on that

Just spent many more hours on calculating status builds for LoM again, and I got very interesting results. Before all else, I should explain it's like the "Improved Option 1" model, but improved in EVERYTHING else improveable, sacrificing only the "HP" attribute. The "HP" attribute is solely responsible for how fast your maximum HP grows. However, your maximum HP will hit 999 (the limit) by the time you are level 99 regardlessly, because it's impossible for the HP attribute to be lower than 54, and that's enough for the maximum HP hit its limit. The only suspicious thing is that its descriptions implies that attribute is SOMEHOW related to the "Poison" status ailment. Now, there already is the "SPIRIT" attribute, which lowers the chance of getting any status ailment inflicted upon (and probably lowers its intensity as well?). I'm going to assume it's related in the sense that larger maximum HP = larger HP drain with poison. Meaning once HP is maxed out at 999, poison will be equally harmful whether the "HP" attribute is at 54 or 99. I plan to eventually test that theory, so we will see. But even if it turns out to be false and that the higher it is, the better you resist to poison somehow, I still think the other attributes far make up for it and are faaaaar more important. Anyway, here's the BEST I could come up with: DEFENSE was raised by 1. MAGIC by 3. SPIRIT by 1. CHARM by 4. HP was decreased by 19. (When compared to "Improved Option 1".) I think that's the best I can do.

Oh, and the "recipe":
(Levels) 2hAxe x 32 Spear x 29 Staff x 19 Hammer x 11 Bow x 5 Knife x 2 (TOTAL: 98 levels up, since level 1 doesn't count.)

Been years since I've seen the OVA series. But I'm a big fan of the 2004 anime series.. .which had trance/techno pieces produced by Vincent De Moor at least once per episode. They were pretty cool, even when they started to repeat or did not fit and stuck out like a sore thumb.

I promise this is the last build I'll put here in ALoY. XD I think. Probably. Managed to take the latest build and raise the HP attribute by 1 without sacrifices, in case that attribute does have some significance. Obs.: In this recipe, only 3 out of 11 weapon types aren't used. *stops the madness for now*

That was an interesting red, Read Hairdo. I so wanna play it again. Also, I've always picked the map with the most land, as well, which is coincidentally said area of the map for the ultimate playthrough.

Two other things that stick out about LoM to me? The graphical style (Seriously, this is a well-drawn game!) and the music.

Ok I'm no writing expert, but I just read some reviews and they were some of the worst I've ever read. If you're going to review something, at least try to put some passion into it. It looked like they were all following the same script and just changed a few words to make it appear different.

I think more reviews need to LACK passion! You can always tell what reviewers are utterly devoid of objectivity. And don't you love the Gamefaqs reviews that take six paragraphs to set up how, when, and where somebody acquired a game, and in what kind of atmosphere/emotional state they were in when they played it? But yeah, a sheerly technical review is understandably boring too.
