Thats great, a real Japanese metal band. I hate how most of them say there "metal" and yet there mostly make up wearing fairies. ESP brand guitars are my favorites, and being its a Japanese company there are some great Japanese bands on their site. Check it out for sure. Thanks for posting that band btw, I am going to import some of their stuff for sure.
I don't think I'd say they're all that "Japanese" at all, except in terms of what they're wearing. I mean, when you said they're the most "Japanese Japanese band" you've ever seen, I thought maybe they used instruments in their music like taiko drums, shakuhachi, koto, etc. 'Cause THAT would be cool, and I'd love to see a video of a rock band that did that!
That's the thing, I've tried to find a band like what you're describing (after having seen so many who do the "influenced by western classical music" thing) and haven't had any luck, so this is the closest I've managed to find. I guess maybe I should have picked another video, because in some of their more mellow songs you can hear quite a bit more of a Japanese folk influence -- still no taiko drums, but at least it's something.
Yeah, I've found their live videos are kind of hit and miss -- some are really good, others sound a little off usually because the male vocalist tends to not be as consistent (and I've even found a few live songs where there's both a good version and a not so good version).
On a completely unrelated note, an important message from the toddler party:

Exactly! Nevermind the overplayed theme/opening song that's been annoying me for *MONTHS*, or the fact that my niece constantly watches the same episodes over and over again... seriously, I'm with Leah on this one. It's almost like Bratz vs. Barbie, or Hilary Duff vs. Britney Spears.
I believe that Beavis and Butthead had foreshadowed what was to become of our society. It'll only get worse from here. ;D
