Alternatively, I'll wait until a website for it is up, and post unused stuff pictures then. I have a part of the site done, sooo... yeah.

Thanks, and it definately goes with Myrmidon! I didn't like the hot-pink armor, so I did a palette swap. X) Also of note: I was going to upload my "Fast Xanadu Remix" - A Faxanadu Hack website. >_> I can't, because Avast waited until after my reboot to tell me that I have a virus. So my computer is scanning, and I've effectively borrowed my sister's inept machine.

Oh, and I still need to pick out a good service for my site. >_> One that won't eventually tell me that my page violates their POS... I mean, their TOS. *coughs*

Raincheck on the website and hacking progress until my laptop is fixed. =\ I've backed up what I need for this hack, as well as my baby project, so no worries there. I just have to do a full restore or something... maybe it won't work. All I know is that my system32 files are all messed up, so I can't do much of anything.

The wait is cut down. I can gladly resume progress on this hack without any fallback! A website for this project may be just around the corner, too. Please, be waiting.

Website progress is on as usual. Haven't really fiddled around with the hack yet, outside of website purposes. (What purposes?) So eh, yeah. Tres minor update.

Okay, so.
I finally got my plate clean enough I feel like playing through Faxanadu again. So I gots a question. This patch fing'um, how does one install it? I haint ne'er done that before. Or is this like a patched up rom?
...Wait. I was trying to get the patch whilst posting, and the link seems to have expired. WHAT KIND OF RINKY-DINK OPERATION IS THIS MAN!
Or rather: Can you re-upload it, and give some instuctions on putting it in?

Absolutely; plans for the patch are as follows: 1. I get the website running 2. I get all content running with the website 3. I include any instruction with the website 4. I make absolutely sure that a finished/complete hack is available. For the most part, many emulators auto-patch simialarly named .nes and .ips files. If that is unsatisfactory and you want a more permanent solution, programs such as LIPS (Lunar IPS) or anything with an IPS suffix should suffice. Most of them just ask you where the rom and the ips patch are, and have a neat option to backup your rom incase anything goes wrong. I'm not sure if I was clear on my warning earlier, or even if I made a warning; but the current patch as it stands is simply a proof-of-concept patch and does not contain absolutely everything I intend the final or even somewhere near-final release to have. Interesting note: I managed to find the data that controls the mantra spoken by the Guru. (But it doesn't control or relate to the mantra entered in the continue screen.) Instead of finding out how to get the game to just say it, I managed to piss the game off and reduce the Mantra to a single letter, "A". Nonetheless, it was a rather irrelevant experience.

By the time I get the website running, I'm aiming for v0.06.
This corrects some Faxanadu-specific bugs, AND implements some more things that I have mentioned here.
Especially the indoor sword enabler.
By then, though, I'd like to enable equipping/unequipping stuff indoors; items, weapons, armor, shields, magic, the whole nine yards. It's too early in my day to worry about this right now. *would like more sleep*
Edit: Through insomnia, I shall give it a go.

I was just working on it, and suddenly my speakers boom "Click here to get a free $1000 walmart gift card..." But I have adblocker plus and flashblocker on here... so why?! >_> Where the H-E-L-L did that come from?! >_<" I didn't *see* anything! That was interesting, because I was just in the middle of accidentally messing with the game's audio. XD Mini-update: HA! In your face, I found it! I should've checked the NES memory (to discover $0024) all along, and did a read check on "$0024". Then, by following the line (x30XXX) it takes me to, modify the value from 00 to 01 or anything beyond that. XD Damn this is random! Regardless, you gotta love my keen sense of dumb luck! I must warn you and myself though, I don't think dumb luck alone will be enough for LAMP. *nods* I must educate myself, learn how pointers affect NES memory, what the NES gives and takes from it all, how the spread of variables work each-other, and what specifically the "down-b" code looks like. I know where to find the down-b code, and initiate it manually, but... how to use this to my advantage, is something that has yet to be worked out. I can compare my way of hacking to being a prosecutor; you have to ask the right questions and press the right issues! In middle of this chaos, my virus scan had finally completed. It was scanning since 10 last night. Oh, and I also have to check and make sure that my changes aren't affecting the Dragon Slayer, etc. -- you're not supposed to be able to equip/unequip anything once you get the Dragon Slayer. Of course, I'm not worried about that. Due to personal preference, I'm inclined to enable equipping and unequipping the Dragon Slayer, Battle Suit and Battle Helmet. The only issue is, shield graphics don't display properly over the Battle Suit, and the Battle Helmet doesn't visibly come off. Whether or not it affects gameplay is unknown at this point, but who cares? Edit: Installing updates. I'll be back. I must point out that I want to fix that door to Eolis, soon. If people can go in and out of Eolis, that's a good thing -- especially for the more ambitious finale hack. In spite of the fact that it's actually pretty easy to get back down, you'd have to wonder why the end of the game wasn't more epic-like, you know?

Absolutely, will do! On the bright side, difficulty level related things barred, I'm not that far off from what I hope to achieve.
Things which require extra attention, and will take a while: - Lamp - Crystal - Fire Crystal - Book - Difficulty Level Selection - Possible new code for every unused item - Dark towers - Enablers/Disablers; basically, every flag and value related to difficulty levels
Things which (I believe) I can get by on dumb luck: - Pendant "glitch" (Questionable, but contradicts manual; halves offense.) - Door to Eolis - Mantra (Eolis) - Brown Potion - Shops; adding unused items and their prices.
Things I should do right away: - Finish the website - Dumb luck related hacks - Plan out shop-related hacks so they're efficient. - Plan out dark tower related hacks, for the last part of the game. - Anything that could and should be planned out first.

I always get myself into trouble by hyping stuff. X) I don't think I've ever had this many people excited/interested, though. Admittedly, the one thing I've spent the most time on, was trying to get the mantra to work in Eolis. It's not entirely important, sans for the upper difficulty levels, but it's still a big deal. I have one last difficulty level in mind, for the most hardcore of masochistic gamers to tackle. This may require more than just my everyday "dumb luck", but I'm eager to solve it.

Here's the deal: - No acceleration, main character is always full speed. This means that jumps in towers are easier to make. - Fast text and fadeout speed. I shouldn't have to explain this one. - Equip anything indoors. Before my hack, you had to go outside to equip anything. - Sword indoors, you'll see this in the key shop. It's not perfect, as the sword doesn't appear when it's changed or equipped indoors yet. You'll notice this in the tool shop. - Uncensored Cross - Faxanadu, with European version font. - Typographical errors and abbreviations are corrected. - Fixed a bad opcode which would prevent you from leaving Eolis. - I made it from Eolis to Apolune without a scratch. I miss enemies about three times.
Not in this video: - No hourglass bug. Before my hack, the hourglass would halve your HP. - Uncensored Rosary, and religious figures. - Many more hacks, which are yet to be complete.

This video showcases the items and people that were once in Faxanadu during the production period. Now these things can only be found via hacking, or through use of some very special Mantras.
