Which one is your all-time favorite character in the Ys series? I didn't create a poll, because there are over a hundred characters in that huge series. Don't forget to choose carefully! There are many Ys games... Ys I, Ys II, Ys III, Ys IV, Ys V, Ys VI, Ys ORIGIN. There are many ports and remakes. Such as YsF and all the COMPLETE and ETERNAL games. As well as some adaptations from other companies, such as Ys II Special, Ys Strategy (the game may be bad, but what about the characters? xD), the Ys anime, manga, novels... ... although we know who's our favorite character in general. But let's see how this will go! ==================================== ---------------------------------------------- ==================================== Adol Christin. Plain and simple. xD

Reah. 1) She's mad cute. 2) At a time when the damsel in distress was so typical, she was not completely useless (and quite possibly batshit insane for letting herself get captured, but so much the better at breaking the stereotype) within the context of the game. No offense to Feena of course >_> 3) Her YsO dress is so frilly and pretty I can't help but adore it (Feena's too!) Honorable mention to Dogi, who somehow manages to retain this awesome charm despite being practically one-dimensional with his wall-crushing shtick.

Terra. Full of energy, and is a kid at heart. This is the way to be. Or die!

Terra Ys 5 or Terra Ys 6?
I like all the bad guys, but Dark Fact takes the cake. Without their menacing ways, we wouldn't have adventures for mr fire crotch to embark on.

Wait, I have to choose JUST one? ;_; Impossible.
I'm partial to the myriad blonde folks though. Cheers for the Fact dynasty, eh? And the Stoddarts.
Terra too, I guess- ignoring her voice, that is.

Dogi is the best character. He knocks down walls for free.

Adol. I don't care what anyone else says, to me he's always seemed to be one of the few more original and likable sword-wielding protagonists that's come out of Japanese gaming. For some reason I love how he always considered himself an adventurer first. I need to give a mention to Reah, though. That hood, the harmonica, the way she mysteriously waits in a dark corner of Minea. Coolest female character in the series, period. She also has the more interesting stare out of the two goddesses in the Ys II Eternal intro (that pic as a whole just gives me chills every time! Then again, pretty much the whole intro does.) I could say something great about a lot of the characters... guess it just adds to the reasons I like the Ys series so much

Well I guess my signature says it all. No wait, I'll only acknowledge it if they come together in a pair.

Heh, I have to say that Karna is one of the most awesome Ys characters ever, too. She's also very Adol-ish in many ways.

Luta Gemma! For years and years Adol had been my one and only favourite Ys characters, being the one and only sole reason why I even followed all the games until... a couple of days back. Rescuing a sleepwalking Luta (with his 'H-E-L-P!') has totally won me over though! X'D
I suppose Adol comes a close second. Now.

Especially the fact that only in Japan, does he have a name. Us English speakers never get to name him. Such a mysterious character.

Indeed. Infact, his name, which you give to him, is:
- Possibly saved by password. I can neither prove nor deny this, but I can see that as a potential hazard while restoring the naming screen. (Since we're dealing with a USA/EUR mantra screen, naming screen data could be altered simialarly. The USA/EUR mantras, however, could've been modified in such a way that is not fail-proof.)
- Used in-game. People say it, he says it, it's everywhere.
Hopefully, they had a really, really stupid reason for removing it; if they had some complicated routines to deal with, etc., I doubt that I could somehow successfully restore it without some backlash. I'm having *some* complications, which I blame on the intense shifting/rewriting of the game data. I analyzed this, only to figure out how to skip the walking scene or freeze the game with the naming screen music "Enter Your Mantra" playing in the background.
More trivia: You can hear the first half-second of "Enter Your Mantra" when you start a new game on the USA/EUR versions of the game. In my theory, this means that they've implemented a sortof fail-safe. We know that they'd made the game *skip* the naming screen. What we didn't realize, was that the game actually reaches the code for the "Enter Your Mantra" song and THEN skips right to the walking scene. The game loads the naming screen, but then is set to act as though END was pressed. It's sloppy, but quite plausible.

Adol, because he is constantly running away from women who are madly in love with him, which I find mildly amusing. I personally definitely wouldn't turn down Lilia for Dogi, but I respect that choice. Also, he is a rather pure character. No motives or secret agenda, just a wandering swordsman looking for fun. That is one aspect of Ys that I find refreshing - despite an overall story and a big cast, there is very little "plot twizt OMG." It's just a pure and simple story with no goofy motives. For the same reasons, my favorite character is also Adol Christin.

I like Dark Fact so that I can say Dalk Fukt.
I mean, without him, I couldn't use a dumbass excuse for cursing, right?
Ha ha, honestly, I like Adol.
