Even though I didn't care much for FFXIII in the end, I'm still excited for this. Especially since I actually like Kingdom Hearts.

I'm still in two minds on Versus.
Plus: Open seamless action oriented combat! Minus: ...developed by the Kingdom Hearts team.
Plus: Big open environments! Minus: Wastelands.
I like that third screenshot, but the first two put me right off. If most of the game is like that then forget it, I'm not interested. Keep dull brown wastelands to shooters and crappy games like Fallout 3.

Yeah, because a post-apocalyptic world is going to look like this. Well, assuming it IS a post-apocalyptic world. I'm only judging from the screenshots, I really don't give a shit about anything Square puts out that isn't a Cavia title.

Har har. They've said nothing about it being a post apocalyptic world.

Man, seeing gas stations makes me want to plant C4 explosives on the pumps a la Just Cause 2. But booooooooooooo. Can't go up mountains! >:((((((( They should allow players to climb them and then do crazy Nomura-directed-like stunts!

Well, there's no sense in asking you to try the newer games because I bet they'll end up as a self-fulfilling prophecy of KH hate anyway. :B

For Kingdom Hearts, I like the art design a lot, but the games don't really interest me too much, and I've seen the first, second, Chains of Memories on GBA and PS2, and the DS one with the numbers in it's name.
And I've played a bit of them, but they don't do it for me.

Well it LOOKS good. Sadly, so did XIII. I am no longer optimistic when it comes to Squeenix.

God, I can't believe they announced a SEQUEL to FFXIII today. Why is such a bad game getting a sequel?

God, I can't believe they announced a SEQUEL to FFXIII today. Why is such a bad game getting a sequel? A lot of people bought it anyhow before everyone decided it was bad If Versus is an action RPG in the vein of Kingdom Hearts (with fps view and vehicles apparently) that already makes it a better video game than XIII. But I'd sooner wait until it is actually out

A lot of people bought it anyhow before everyone decided it was bad I admit to being one of these poor saps. I was a moron. I swore i would stop buying Final Fantasies after 12. Over and over. I bought the strat guide for 12 even, to do it all fancy, and then swear it off. (Bought the guide for the art) Oh regret. At least Lightning and Fang are cute.

You weren't the only one. You'll hear me constantly saying how I wish I had bought and played Resonance of Fate instead of the time I put into FFXIII. And if I could add my Star Ocean 4 time to that as well, it'd be solid. I really wanted to like FFXIII. I liked the art, I liked the attempt at revolutionizing combat (shame it ended up being such a dumbed down system), I liked the characters at the start... though none of them developed in a compelling way and I gave up when they were all questioning what they were supposed to be doing ps - agreed on Lightning and Fang. My favorite part of the FFXIII-2 announcment was seeing Lightning in a more traditional fantasy outfit

Well, SE is saying that their intent with XIII-2 is to address the valid criticisms made of the original. While I fully understand that at this point they are not building a game and it's engine from the ground up, I have a hard time believing that within a year of the title's announcement, that they intend to fix a game that took them several years and delays to develop before. I'll keep my eye on it, but I'm not falling for what they did with XIII proper. The hype machine worked it's dastardly game on me that time, and I played to it like a fool.
That said, I always held out hope that Versus would be good for having more traditional elements of RPGs as well as being a KH-team game without Disney bogging down an otherwise interesting plot with gratuitous, unnecessary filler content. The trailer certainly looked promising! Still not a day-one purchase. Sadly after XIII I have grown to understand that I must not hype machine SE games anymore. High expectations are in ill taste to have with them anymore, it would seem.
And on the subject of what was once Agito, despite being rooted in a school setting (which I typically hate with a passion) Type-0 always stood out to me among the Fabula Nova Crystallis titles; all of the old screen shots of it from magazines seemed the most interesting looking of the games, simply by virtue of how little the screens told of the combat system. And I really can't tell if it's an action RPG or not after watching the new trailer, though it would seem that that's the case, but I was excited to see it regardless. I'm still intrigued!

That's funny, what an opposite man you are, Ashurei! My favourite part of the KH games WAS the Disney, although I wish it was more well explored with the Final Fantasy being part of it, and with less garbage storyline. The Winnie The Pooh segment had me b'aww!

I always kind of liked the underlying plot of KH, which feels like a side-note to the Disney worlds throughout the series. Which isn't to say that I found KHs story terribly compelling material, but learning what was behind everything (and not so much all of the Sora/Riku drama) was interesting enough, I suppose. My favorite part of each of the two proper games so far has been dealing with Ansem or Organization XIII in their respective final areas and seeing the plot get fleshed out ever so briefly therein. Traveling to each new Disney realm always felt like such a chore. Rarely was the plot advanced, nothing interesting happened... and you just got to run around in a Disney movie wreaking havoc with a giant sword. I wanted more.

That said, I still basically hate Kingdom Hearts. It's useless butt poo, in my vaginal gaming eyes.

The Kingdom Hearts series is much better if you play it in a language you don't fully comprehend! :D Of course, you'd have to be perfectly content in not wanting to know plot or dialogue to get through it! :DDD And I am totally A-OK with that! Gameplay-only for the win!
Are they really building FFXIII-2 from the ground up? Even if they are, I think it's possible that it's doable since they already have the basics figured out through those many years they slaved on the FFXIII project.
However, I wonder what the sequel is supposedly going to fix? Is it going to have GOOD, LIKEABLE CHARACTERS WITH ENJOYABLE PERSONALITIES? Have some decent exposition? Give players more control in battle?
Anyway, I'm not all that interested in this game. The little teaser seemed sort of lame too and I wonder if it's gonna lean toward the FFX-2 bit with an all-girls romp??
