That game must have at least a Dogi breaking wall's quest.

I'm sure the game is good anyway -- it's just not an Ys game.

XD I vote for Riela and Funa in your translation! ;D My poor character would get confused. "WHERE do I insert the micro-transaction?!" ;D

Looking at the screens on those forums it looks like just another brown and gritty MMO x-x.

I can't imagine getting into an MMORPG, even if it IS an Ys game. I think it's just too time consuming. You have to commit to friends and alliances. Still, It WOULD be fun if classic Ys gameplay was intact and everyone was running into eachother. I will enjoy some Youtube videos for sure, but that's it.

MMORPGS can be time consuming if you allow them to be, especially if you are playing one that requires the player to pay a monthly subscription service fee, because then the player feels like they HAVE to play in order to get their money's worth.
But Guild Wars changes that for me since when you buy the game, it stays yours for as long as you wish to continue playing it. I sometimes play, but I rarely drop more than an hour or two on it during one sit down. I have the freedom of going in and out of the game to play it whenever I choose, so for that reason it doesn't end up consuming my life the way that World of Warcraft did for me for about a year.
I'm very interested to give it a chance and I think it would be a great way for some of us Ys fans to connect in a gaming experience, so I'm actually fairly excited to hear that it is getting a global release and that it will be free for players who wish to join.

Uh, it's getting an European release... xD Not global. People from all over America won't be able to play it. (That should go without saying, but we from: Canada, USA, Brazil and anywhere else in Amercia are included.)
Didn't you see MP83's post? =/ Unfortunatelly it's available only for the europeans.
But that doesn't prevent any of us from downloading the game, in english, and creating our own servers. I have a friend that hasn't done that yet, because he thought it wouldn't be worth enough to do so with a game in korean, but that he would completely do it if it was in english. And now it is.

Thanks for providing that information MP83. I've sent a request out to see if I can possibly grab a closed beta key.
That would be fantastic if one of us could somehow get a key. Personally, if I was picked to be a tester I wouldn't have a problem sharing it so that others who are interested in trying it out could at least login to take a look at it.

Um, nope. Maybe I should see if I could edit that. : 0 That must have been the default choice.
Edit: Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out, MP83.

IP block, huh? Maybe that can be bypassed? Whatever, I'm only waiting for private servers to pop up, hopefully.

Hmmmm... from the sounds of it, it really seems to be so.
And what about the music? Is there any Ys music remix or just random, crappy musics?

I've been working on it, but no results to share as of yet. What we need is a program that works similar to 'invisiblebrowsing' that we can:
A) Grab a IP Proxy from European country that is fast enough.
B) Be able to output the proxy information to a specific port that is manually input each time after identifying the port being used by the Ys Online client (since it changes each time you load it and can be identified at the log-in screen) using the 'netstat -abn' run command.
I've gotten close with invisiblebrowsing, but I'm not entirely sure that it is using my manual port information when enabling the program. But I know that it is not impossible. There seems to be countless threads and questions regarding this exact setup process for getting region locked online games to work, so the answer is bound to be something that we can dig up from the interwebs.

I did some quick Google search and I easily spotted this, not sure if it will work though. www.elitepvpers.de/forum/cabal-main-discussions-questions/59945-how-bypass-ip-block.htmlThis seems somewhat promising. I'll try this later tonight, hoping this may do the trick. Did you cross through this by any chance, Skye? Also, in another board, someone wrote this: "use softether vpn but use a taiwan proxy instead of the jp one" (It was an attempt to bypass a taiwanese IP block, as you can see.) Not sure if that can be of any help. EDIT: It seems you have to register to see the two links from that site. I registered and now I can see the 2 links that were hidden. So that you don't have to register there as well, here are them both, respectively: downloads.pcworld.com/pub/new/utilities/security/a4proxy.exe (this one supposedly is the software that will make things work out) www.samair.ru/proxy/ (use this to find an European IP number) Don't forget to read the original post for instructions. EDIT2: ... And I wonder if this will work out... =/ plus the program is confusing to use...
