If Falcom had both games in production at the same time, which would you rather play first? >:3
I'm highly curious on how Ys IV will come out! But Ys 7 is so mysterious! :\ :/ :\ :/
.........
I'm going to go with the unknown and choose 7 since I wanna know what's in store for Adol's next adventure! :D

Seven, definitely.
While I would like to see Falcom make an official version of Ys IV and once and for all sort out what parts of the story are canon and what's not, I'm hungrier for a continuation. And to be honest, if they are going to make remakes of their older games using the new engine and 3D-style I wouldn't want them to skip I & II. Esteria and Ys itself would be very nice to see in a different perspective.

Ys 7 because it'll be all new, but I would be more than happy with a Ys 4 remake. It was my first Ys game and I haven't played it in yeaaars.

What if it's a homoerotic dating sim consisting only of highly-detailed adult Adol/Dogi FMVs done in the style of the 3D CG intro to Ys VI PS2, voice-acted in esperanto by Bobcat Golthwait and Michael Jackson, and interspersed with a small handful of poorly-timed quick-time events and nothing else? -Tom of course Ys IV, because Ys 7 is going to be homoerotic dating game.

If both game were released simultaneously, I'd go for Ys IV first for the sake of chronological continuity. xD
Now, if the question was about choosing between Ys SEVEN and an Ys IV remake, then it's Ys SEVEN all the way.

Honestly though, do you really want a game where every other boss is a dragon? I mean, we already fought dragons in Felghana. I mean, sure it's Ys -- I just hope that they know where they're going with all these dragons.

xD It doesn't need to only have Dragon bosses. Also I think the only dragon boss in the Ys series was that one from Ys III you mentioned, so I see no harm in there. =s But yeah, let's all see what it will be about first. xD I hope the game is good (which is likely to be) and that it gets tons of good ports and localizations.

Meh.. dragons are overrated. I think Adol should start exploring the northern lands. Adol + viking gear.. can't go wrong.

Ys SEVEN should be "Ys VII: Mystic Far East" and happen in Japan, with some neat VMJ cameos.

Which reminds one.... wasn't Terra sweeping away in front of a Japanese-ish temple wearing a.... kimono(?) in one of the most recent wallpapers? Perhaps it will be Far East-themed? But perhaps that was just a wallpaper theme! Anyways. I voted for Ys 7! Both the Ys IVs are translated and patched already anyways and I want to know what happens next! Besides, even though I wouldn't mind another, definite versioned Ys IV, I think I would probably be just sitting there watching you guys in envy, unable to play, unable to comprehend. (Wait.... I'll be doing that with Ys 7 too... But it'll be NEW! And atleast I could admire the box! )

Well to be fair "They" never did Ys IV themselves. Then all the more reason for FALCOM to give us their spin on Ys IV. >:O Meh.. dragons are overrated. I think Adol should start exploring the northern lands. Adol + viking gear.. can't go wrong. :P Oh, it can go very wrong. Like this: www.imdb.com/title/tt0462465/

True, but Falcom didn't do Faxanadu. ;D Just imagine... there'll be the Chinese Dragons, and the European Dragons, and the American Dragons, and Multi-headed Dragons, and... ;P Just about every last cliche rolled into a single game. XD

Ys VII! But only because Ys IV, especially The Dawn of Ys, is too awesome to be remade.

Honestly though, do you really want a game where every other boss is a dragon? I mean, we already fought dragons in Felghana. I mean, sure it's Ys -- I just hope that they know where they're going with all these dragons. Well, from working on that timeline, I know that the Eldeen referred to the Galva-type beasts as 'Dragon Knights.' If it is that specific story- I'm sure it will have a massive tie back to the Eldeen. The updates made for Felghana and the release of Ys Origin would probably be necessary to setup background information. That's my guess as to why we've not seen it yet. Afterall, the changes in Felghana lined it up with Ys VI (Galvaran escaped the Ark of Napishtim). And Ys Origin actually lined Ys I-II up with stuff we learned in Ys VI. A lot of things keep pointing back to the events that were the destruction of the Atlas Continent. If I recall my translation on the timeline, The Dragon Knights were created to be guardians for major Eldeen artifacts. So it may not be that the 'five great dragons' are enemies... I think it's far too early to determine what it means, and all. Wait, I thought that humans made the Galvaran's while trying to make black emel or white emel & ended up with ash emel which ...somehow became the Galvaran's....something like that
