Agreed! Ys I + II for the new generation would be sweeter than hell; assuming that hell's coated with sugar, of course!

When it comes to 1 & 2, if it's done on PSP or whatever, will it come out, outside of Japan? Especially with the Legacy one just being released, will they decide, that, atleast in NA, that people wouldn't care about ANOTHER version of 1 & 2, since we just so recently got one? That's the only thing I worry about.

It's probebly at Akihabara Station in Tokyo Japan. since they have the whole Falcom party there next week. so with that in mind, it could be real.

My prediction: Falcom will release *every* Ys game on the PSP, one by one. In order. Mark my words. Now that would be amazing! ....What would be even more amazing is if they were all brought over in English~! *far off dreams* But wow... you guys have good eyes! I couldn't even see if there was any Ys IV art there, forget about noticing whether it was DoY or MotS. That is a pretty logo though, whether it is photoshopped or not!

Interesting choice for the Ys 7 logo, if that is the one. It looks like script to me, similar to a form of Arabic written script perhaps. I wonder if that would place Adol's next adventure somewhere east of the Europa region of the Ys world map. Hi Thomas! Long time no talk. About the logo, that "script" in between is actually the greek character ZETA, which takes the value seven when used as a numeral. Makes more sense now?

I still wish Falcom would MOVE THE FUCK ON with the series instead of constantlly remaking Ys I & II on every system known to mankind.

Well, and they are! Ys 7 is part of this announcement too, after all. (: -Tom And yet, they keep going back to I & II. :P I wonder when they'll come out for the 360 and PS3?

No wonder that Ys I & II are all about bumping skills.

When I think about it, it kinda makes sense. I mean, they now have 3D models for pretty much most of the bosses from I and II.

! True, true. Oh, but that's bad actually. xDD We all saw before that Falcom gets their YsVI stuff and just modify. They even got Darm Tower ready, dammit. xD Which could (maybe) be used even for some future Ys IV remake. FALCOM THE RECYCrING COMPANY

xD Well, I agree. But it's still somewhat lame. xDDD (It doesn't mean it's bad though. But just... lazy. xD)

Which Falcom seems to be good at! However, I think that Falcom ARE overdoing it -- they just happen to be so good that nobody notices! Now if Falcom did Final Fantasy VII, that game and its respective sequels (and movie!) wouldn't be in the same boat, I imagine!

I know, but it's amusing. xDD Like when you and doppi found that Ys VI dialogue in the Ys ORIGIN script. XD And that earth/lighting confusion from before too. xD It's slacker-ish.
But I do like the games and their recycled engines and whatever. xD

Nostalgia happens when you play a game and it reminds you of an experience you haven't had in a long time. I have experienced more Ys I and II, than I have with most other games. Some time man, they need to give it some time. But, this is Falcom were talking about. Instead of using 90% of its brain power for new content, they use 40%, and devote the rest of their resources milking older series with "NEW super awesome 3d graphixxx, and a whopping new soundtrack ramastered by hogamashiyamiohkamisama jyankenpo, oh yeah, and we have new art.... NEW ART KAWAIIII".
Whoopie doo, is all I can think. I though the same thing with Ys DS, but it was at least a handheld Ys, which has now already been done. If Falcom wanted to wow me, they shouldn't have whored Adol out to Atlus for his DS romp. If the PSP port turns out to be better than the PS2 Eternal Story, and ends up being pretty cheap, then Ill pick it up. I just have too much to play, and I would rather Falcom used their talents to make something new, or at least something new for another console (Like they are with Brandish). I just have too much to play, and I have done the Darm tower thing way too much.

What if Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles isn't Ys 1 & 2? What if it's events leading up to 1 & 2(not 700 years ago, but present time), or what if it focuses on different aspects of the game, like say, what if Dogi is the hero, & it focuses on his adventures? Food for thought

So there is no Ys 4?

Post by Justin on Mar 2, 2009 0:32:39 GMT -5
Yeah but Captain is right, by that logic, Ys 4 doesn't exist. I think it counts because it stars a red head dude named Adol, and he is looking for the books of Ys, Darm, Lilia, Feena, Bla bla bal bla bal bla bla. Same story and gameplay, plus it has Falcom's stamp on it so, its a Falcom game. What I mean by something new for another console is not a "revamped, but "new" title by the actual copyright holder", I mean something like Ys 7 for PSP, or a Legend of Heroes 1/2 pack for the DS, much like Brandish PSP. Like I said, I am just getting sick of Ys I and II getting released all the time, developed in house or not. www.gamefaqs.com/search/index.html?game=Ys&platform=0I mean come on, that's a ton of ports. Not saying the game is bad, just over done. It would be the case with anything, including say Mario. I know you love the company to death man, but its pretty obvious that its talent is wasted on older content sometimes. That said, there is no point fighting reality, as such Ys I and II chronicles could be pretty fun to play. If they make it at least something like YsF, then I'll be happy. It would at least be different enough where it wouldn't feel like I've played it before. I am probably going to spark a flame war over this, but I feel Falcom has lots in common with this guy: Beware the darkside, and its IP whoring abilities.

Says the guy who just "gave" his copy of Ys DS away......
Like I said, it doesn't take as much talent to rehash an older title, than it does to make a whole new game, or series. Its not a question of who likes and doesn't like the ports, because I wont lie, they are good. Its just that you hope for more from the company, and it just doesn't happen as much as you would like it to. There isn't any point in fighting it, most Falcom fans have low standards for the company, and they'll eat anything that they put out.
