Because I am now absolutely getting a PSP and have decided to get the most recent flavour, mod free of course, I need some recommendations First of all: I can probably get a PSP-3000 bundle. I'm thinking the Rock Band Unplugged version, since I'm a big fan of the normal Rock Band and really like Amptitude/Frequency (what little I've played, sadly) Now, which games should I go for? Here's my wishlist: Brave Story Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles Persona Wipeout Pure/Pulse (both?) Burnout (I'm not sure how to attempt this choice, but I really like the games) Gurumin Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman 2 (whenever it comes out) Half-Minute Hero Megaman Powered Up Megaman Maverick Hunter X One of the import Gundam games (which is the best?) Hmm, there're more, but I can't really think right now (pretty tired, be Smithee)

Ys Seven? \ O_______o /
THAT IS unless this is strictly an english list. :I
UM. Well, I only have Gurumin and Brave Story of what you listed, both of those be good. Other than that my BIGGEEEEESSSSTTTTT recommendation is the port of FFT, since it's probably one of the best things ever.

Also:
Jeanne d'Arc Valkyrie Profile Star Ocean: First Departure/Second Evolution Yggdra Union Riviera Breath of Fire III Disgaea 1/2 Crimson Gem Saga
You decided not to mod it, though? That's kind of a shame, but hey, maybe you're rich. Gurumin, Castlevania, and Half Minute Hero are your best choices from your list.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions seconding! No PSP collection can be complete without that ultimate awesomeness! :'D Out of your list, I'd really jump on Brave Story. That game was pure loveliness and beyond. Combine that with the book aaaaand~~~~ <3 (Perhaps you ought to play the game first and read the book later though? :'D I LOVED the book. So much so, that the game had to work very hard to even attempt to come close to the levels of the book. Sadly, for me, in comparison to that, it sort of failed. The game.... as amazing as it was.... seemed like it was trying too hard to imitate the book. T___T So long rant short - say play game first, read book later, I says!) And.... I know I'll probably be shot a thousand times for even saying this, but.... what about Ys VI for PSP...? That was what I actually played Ys VI upon, and loved! Totally. After playing that, I couldn't even bring myself to touch the PS2 version.... (Project Diva was great fun too! :'D) (Everything else on HJ's list is absolutely awesome too! [Or atleast the stuff I've played out of those..])

His PSP isn't modded, so I'd say stay awaaaay from Ys VI PSP.
Well, between the PS2 and PSP version I wouldn't really care, but if he can play it on the PC and his PSP isn't modded, I can't really fathom why he'd pick the PSP version. It's not a very portable friendly game anyway.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is an absolute must. That game is brilliant on so many levels. Why would you recommend the inferior version D:

The PSP version is better. Dude, NOBODY in their right mind would choose a song over more extras.

I actually played it off the UMD quite happily even though me PSP be modded.... :'''D I'll just quieten up about this though, since I have a LOT of patience with load times, and somehow, I seem to like me Ys as portable far more than sitting in front of one's PC. And I doubt Smithee prefers portability over proper awesomeness of PCs like me so..... yeah, I guess PC versions with doppi-patches IS the best. (I still found the PSP version awesome though....! )

Well, Yakra, I've read most of the book, but at the 600 page point I got distracted and haven't went back. Which has caused me to give myself more than a few punches to my own face, whether metaphorical or not.
Honestly, that list was just stuff I knew was good. The things you guys recommend outside of it sound good, but I already own some of them (FFTWotL for example). I did have a PSP once before, heh, that's probably the only console of mine that's ever been broken outside of plain aging, and it was all my brother's doing. But hey, he was younger back then!
Which (if any) Gundam game should I go for? I understand they play just like the arcade games, and I have the PS2 version of Federation vs. Zeon and like that, except there are like NO characters in that game (Seriously I think there are seven or something?)
So if anybody does know which Gundam game is most import friendly and most kick-ass that'd be great.

Oh yes, I remember when that was just a doujin game (if I'm thinking straight, anyway)!
I like mechs better than cutesy people though... Hmm.

Cool, glad to know I got the history down on that one, at least.
So if I were to get one RPG, one action game, and one of something else, which should it be for the PSP?

Racers are one of my "guilty pleasures". I mean, I'll admit to trying to keep the appearance of an indie type gamer at school, who plays only the top quality things and loves the obscure but really, there aren't so many obscure racers... But damn do I love them! Just like falling block puzzlers, Puzzle Fighter, Puyo Puyo/Kirby's Avalanche, Tetris, all favourites of mine. Y'know what I'm embarrased to say though? I've never played an F-Zero besides the first one. I'm really tempted to change that by getting X off of Virtual Console, and maybe the GC one if I see it in stores. But that's off topic One of the Wipeout games sounds fabulous

Ugh... after being used to the PC version (and expansion), I couldn't STAND Daybreak Portable. It wasn't anywhere near as enjoyable for me.
My recommendations would be Armored Core 3 Portable, Metal Gear Ac!d, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Tekken 6, and if you want imports, Darius Burst (which is mostly English anyway) and Phantasy Star Portable 2 (which is pretty text-heavy but not impossible to play).

Falcom games are implied in recommendation topics on this board...

Heh, I guess someone has to have faith.
Anyways, I've been making some headway in Brave Story and it's good, but I would still suggest Half-Minute Hero over it. Especially since you've also made a lot of progress with the Brave Story book; it just seems like HMH has more to give at this point. The gameplay isn't exactly the biggest incentive to play Brave Story, after all (if you ask me).

Plus, I usually stop RPGs partway through. If an RPG is only 30 seconds long, then maybe my attention span will be able to will itself to stand a little longer. PS I know it isn't actually 30 seconds, but that is the basis for the game and stuff, so... Yeah, you get the idea.

Half-Minute Hero is awesome. I've beaten all the main stuff and am still playing it. It's my "ten minutes in the bubble bath" game I play before bed time.

Brave Story is far and away the best-looking game on the PSP, incredible considering its diminutive file size, and that IS one of the main things it has going for it. I do think it's very good for a traditional JRPG, nonetheless.
I still need to check out Half-Minute Hero, though. D8

Try the Dungeon Maker series of games!! Little gems!! I got Taiko No Tatsujin on PSP on import and its worth every crazy overpriced import penny!!
I may lose Kudos for saying this however my PSP is modded and from a hardware point of view its genius... Overclocking and a Fifth level of brightness for starters plus a recovery if your psp bricks for most reasons... *shrugs*
I appreciate that CFW is one of those 'taboo' subjects but I think if it isn't abused then you actually improve the capabilities of the PSP...
I always think about the Value for Money factor when I purchase hardware... I mean if its capable of doing something then my curiousity always get the better of me and I have to find out...
*shrugs*
